Pros: Very nice stay, very helpful and friendly owners. The breakfast is excellent. The location is ideal (central Valparaiso)

Pros: The staff were all lovely and made us feel right at home. The room was super clean and had a really comfy bed and pillows, the shower in the bathroom had the perfect amount of pressure too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, great location, was able to park on the street just fine (only on weekends).
Cons: It's a bit noisy on the streets at night sometimes so if you're the type that is easily awakened you might want to choose a quieter place. But then you'd likely be further away from the most interesting parts of Valparaiso.

Pros: Stunning location and breakfast. Wonderful staff and building. Loved the bay window with harbour views in the room we had on our first night.

7.5 Good
Pros: Residential neighbourhood, high on the hills. Kitchenette
Cons: No restaurants close by (that we found), only take-aways. That said, the take-away we went to had excellent food
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely little homely B&B with absolutely stunning views. The owner was really lovely and helpful with a map and recommendations. We got an "apartment" which was an ensuite room with a little kitchenette. We didn't really make much use of it, but it was well kitted out for simple cooking with a stove and a large fridge with a few pots/plates etc. There was a wifi router in the kitchen so the signal was excellent. Breakfast in the morning was really good with fresh fruit and nice bread/cheese etc.
Cons: I actually really liked the location but this is not for you if you don't like a bit of a walk. We always walked into town down a steep hill which took about 15mins and was very pleasant. We generally took taxis back from town at night (and once when we were just tired!) which came to around 4000 chilean pesos a time. This was definitely worth the peace and quiet and the great views! It's also very close to the maritime museum and there's a lovely cafe just a couple of blocks away.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Marisol is very kind and very helpful. She has given us a map with all sorts of useful information (elevatrors not working, which buses to take ...). The view from the terrace is stunning.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We booked this place last minute after our original booking turned out to be a fake one, and our party of 5 was stuck in Valparaiso at 8pm without accommodation. Hotel El Mirador was a good option to the alternative, with private units equipped with a kitchenette, fridge, and reliable Wifi. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The place is clean, well looked after, and above all, super quiet! There is a nice courtyard where guests can enjoy breakfast, coffee etc.
Cons: Nothing the hotel can do, but the location is a bit out of the way, as in quite far from the center, or other touristy areas. This is a problem more at night than during the day, due to the neighbourhood looking a bit sketchy. If you don't have your own car, you're pretty much relying on cabs and uber to move around.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our host and the house
Cons: Valparaiso is a tatty and dirty town that is falling to pieces. B n b is in a very dirty and tatty street liered with dog turds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A super clean, nice B&B. It’s one of the best I’ve seen. The owner is really nice and helpful. Breakfast is really good compared to the price. They also have parking spots which is difficult to find in this town. It’s worth staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: El Mirador was a nice respite, a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of Valparaiso. It is located in Playa Ancha about a 10 minute walk from Ascensor Artilleria. There are frequent (every 1-2 minutes) buses from the center of the city which take about 8 minutes and feel a little like riding a rollercoaster. I stayed in one of the apartments which was spacious and had a great view and an even better balcony. They were equipped with a kitchen which I thought I would not use but it was nice to store cold drinks and have ready access to wine glasses. It was nice to sit on the balcony every evening and enjoy the view while sipping the excellent Carmenere which was everywhere for less than $10 a bottle. Marisol was exceedingly kind and was very interested that all her guests should have a great stay. She provided all sorts of tips including information on a free architecture tour I would never have heard about. When I mentioned that I was interested in visiting La Sebastiana (Pablo Neruda's) house information and pictures were waiting for me at breakfast. Breakfast was enjoyable with hot bread, ham, cheese and a large serving of mixed fruit. All in all, I loved my 4 days in Valparaiso and I feel that staying at El Mirador really added to my experience of the city.
Cons: Nothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: Price should have been my first indication. Very, very basic.
Cons: No shade on window. Nothing close by for food, etc. Extremely basic accommodation. I was not about to use the shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really loved location on the hill with a beautiful view of Valparaiso The owner of the hotel was very nice and accommodating with all our requests Room was nice and bed really comfortable
Cons: Everything was perfect
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely house/room - with splendid views. Comfortable bed, hot shower &, for those wishing to self cater, very good kitchen facilities Good breakfast (warm bread, cheese/ham, jam, fresh fruit & tea/coffee) and, above all else, a very helpful and informative owner.
Cons: Nothing - the only small issue (for those who don’t like walking much - unlike us) is its about 20 mins to walk into main plaza and involves some stairs. However there are easy alternatives with many buses to avoid 15 minutes walk) and an ascensor (to avoid stairs)within 5 minutes of the accommodation.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place in the middle of Cerro Alegre, one of the nicest tourist areas in Valparaiso. Although not water views, the scenery of the quaint houses on the hillside was still beautiful. A friend recommended this place because we were looking for a small hotel. The place exceeded our expectations. We had a two-story apartment-style room with a kitchenette, a small dining table, two beds on the first floor, and a bed and the bathroom on a second floor loft. The lobby was big and welcoming, and the public areas and rooms are full of art created by the owners and their family. The long tables had cards, dominoes and other board games. The hotel bar is tiny , but they had Pisco sours, and that's all we needed. Several nights we spent playing dominoes, drinking Pisco sours, and eating in from the empanada place or the wood-fired oven pizza place around the corner. The hotel was beautifully designed and well-appointed. The staff was excellent--friendly, helpful, accommodating. In Cerro Alegre, we enjoyed walking everywhere, and discovering the murals throughout the hills in town.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super friendly and helpful!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is magical the view from the smart tub has no comparison and the atmosphere of the place is very chill. Perfect relaxing place specially on a winter day.
Cons: Breaksfast was a bit disappointing I was expecting fresh Chilean bread and a bit more variety for the price.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: People really nice at the property. Amazing place to stay !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was great! We truly felt the hotel went above and beyond to make our trip memorable and enjoyable!
Cons: I would have loved some coffee or tea in the room, everything else was great!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, view, decor, and lobby are great.
Cons: View and large windows in room are great, but it was too bright in the morning, and the stairs are hard to navigate in the night with the bathroom upstairs and one of the beds downstairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, varanda with a view to the town and cerro and a private jacuzzi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcome drink and snacks. Hot tub and amazing view at night.
Cons: Not easy to find and address confusing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hot tub and the staff
Cons: The room doesn’t look like in the pic

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room, very clean. Nice en suite bathroom. Friendly and helpful owners, they provided a good breakfast and had good local knowledge. Lovely terrace to sit in at the back overlooking the city. Kitchen had everything I needed. Thank you very much!
Cons: It was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners of this hostel are a French couple who speak English, Spanish, and French. They were very sweet and kind to us. We arrived late in the evening after being robbed. The owner helped us put a plastic covering over the broken window of our rental car. He was very kind and accommodating despite the fact that we did not communicate our late arrival time. The hostel was clean, big, and very cool inside. The rooms were nice and the location was pretty central, but also quiet and safe.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Great city view. Nice hot shower (with hand-held shower head!). Cozy. We walked from the bus terminal and enjoyed the colorful art on our way despite the hill. The map around Valparaiso given and explained to us at check in was super helpful as well.
Cons: Laundry service took a little longer than expected (we should’ve checked when and how to collect our laundries beforehand).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable accommodation. Main reason to recommend is the owner who gave us loads of excellent advice on where to go and what to see in Valparaiso. The showers were clean, warm and had a decent flow rate. There was a decent kitchen free to use and a really nice balcony with a nice view in the mornings. The front gate and door felt really secure which was great. The owner came out to great us and helped us into our taxi when we said goodbye. Would definitely recommend this hostel to others.
Cons: The breakfast was a little basic but we were offered as much tea and coffee as we wanted. Not a negative for the hostel as Valparaiso is just a hilly place, but guests should note that this hostel is on a steep hill. Again, the hostel owner explained to us the bus routes and taxi system so you can easily avoid the walk. We chose to walk and it was only 10 minutes from the historic centre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect! The Wi-Fi was great, room was spacious and clean, hot showers, loved the terrace and making use of the shared kitchen. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. They gave us great advice with what to see; we spent one afternoon walking around Valparaiso and the second day we walked from Vina del Mar to Renaca along the waterfront ending with some fish and chips before catching a night bus. Thank you for helping us make the most of our time there and for letting us use the hotel facilities until it was time for our bus :)
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful people run this place. They are super kind and helpful! It is also very clean, comfortable, and quiet. I am already going back to stay more nights at this fabulous hostal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hostel in a good location. And the hosts were kind, welcoming, and helpful with advice. Room was comfortable and clean. The hostel has a nice, easygoing warmth to it.
Cons: Everything was great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very big place. I got a room for myself with Its own entrance. Nice and quiet place. Big room, good WiFi. Kitchen you can use, clean space. Relaxed people. Everything is nearby.
Cons: Its on a hill. So a lot of walking up and down. But Its good excersize!
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice staff. Location is quiet and family friendly. Breakfast is modest, but good quality. Spacious central area accessible to guests. Nice location for walking around town and sight seeing. Owner provides good suggestions for sightseeing. Rooms are clean. Nice terrace to sit on and look out over city.
Cons: Building is somewhat run down, although it appears it's in the process of being renovated. Central area where guests can sit to eat/hang out is large, but lots of piles of random stuff (toys, paint cans, new windows, linens) everywhere. Looks a bit chaotic and looks like work in progress. Kitchen area is small - ok for limited number of guests, but would be difficult if multiple guests are present and need to cook.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast, kitchen, personell

7.5 Good
Pros: The view out the window over Valparaiso & the sea was fantastic.
Cons: A bit difficult to get to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sutherland House, perched atop a hillside in Valparaiso's Miraflores neighborhood, was once the home of the rector of an elite private school. The current owner, Claudio Corvalan has transformed what was his family home into a beautifully rendered guest house with spectacular views of the city and the ocean. Claudio and his English-speaking staff, including Bastian Collao and Vanessa Rodriguez spare nothing to make sure their guests are comfortable -- from flutes of champagne for new arrivals to sumptuous breakfasts in a wood-paneled dining room. The driveway up is steep -- and the three floors of stairs are steeper -- but the views from the open-air veranda and front rooms are breathtaking. A fifteen minute walk (the only sensible way to see Santiago) will get you to the downtown area and most tourist attractions.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cozy bed, great panoramic views of the city. The balcony was very nice on the second floor bedroom, and the owner and staff was very friendly and helpful. I”ll come back soon.
Cons: The room was very clean and nice, I only recommend to mantain the window glasses as clean and transparent as possible, because one of the many positive things about this place, is the view from The bedrooms, so it’s an important matter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: all staff were extremely helpful and friendly
Cons: I liked it all. If you don't like neighborhood noise and beautiful old buildings with all of their creaky wood floors, you should not stay here. (you should stay here!)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: nice view, very good breakfast, very nice staff, beautiful house
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and accommodating; called around for a laundry service for us. They had welcome drinks for us. Great breakfast with fried or scrambled eggs and buffet. INCREDIBLE view of Valparaíso from our room. Many nearby tours and great restaurants.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and very accommodating staff
Cons: Barking dogs.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, awesome view and a very comfortable stay. The breakfast is excellent, one of the best we have had.
Cons: Nothing, it is all good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The staff, the room, the view, location, tje food!
Cons: Nothing!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful old house restored to a charming hotel. The location is perfect. The staff cannot do enough for you. And, something most people understand once they have arrived, it has parking. Parking is pretty much impossible in the area. The restaurant was good, and after wandering around the hills of Valpo, we were happy to dine at the hotel and not have to climb the hills after dinner. The rooms are comfortable, but not big, and the bathrooms are nice. The price is a high, but you are not paying just for the room, but the wonderful living room with stunning views, and the location. We loved it. The street art in the neighborhood is fantastic.
Cons: Only that they did not serve wine by the glass, only the half bottle. If this is my biggest complaint, it is not much.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The pool was amazing, also the breakfast with amazing views
Cons: I spected more about my room.
7.1 Good
Cons: They serve you almost nothing being in the pool. In a hot day you want to stay at the pool, and no one goes to serve you there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extensive buffet; able to eat inside or outside overlooking the city and harbor. Fabulous staff.
Cons: A bit hard to find by driving (but well worth it!)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Calm, beautiful areas to relax in from an indoor area with the most magnificent picture window to a roof top terrace and lovely pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful property.
Cons: Nothing, all good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: beautiful, charming, comfortable hotel with an extremely friendly and attentive staff.
Cons: The food service could be a bit more expansive - there wasn't much variety in room service or restaurant, and as many restaurants in the neighborhood were closed on the Sunday we were there, it would have been nice to have more options inside the hotel for a casual meal or snack.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the place, the location is outstanding, walking distances from main attractions, really handpicked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room had excellent view of the port and main square as well as surrounding hillsides. The food was excellent and service very efficient and pleasant.
Cons: Room service delivered tray of food but it was not removed afterwards. Chambermaids always left the balcony door open - not great security! The WC was the oddest design. The cistern tended to keep flushing but the bowl did not empty - we had to ask for a plunger.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This old family home being run as a small hotel is a treasure trove of family collectibles and is laid out well, with a beautiful outside terrace. Tea, coffee and filtered water are available at any time of day or night, usually accompanied by biscuits and, if you want, fascinating conversation. Both Carolina and Doris, the sisters who run the hotel, are well versed in Chilean history, politics, the local area and have lived in many places in Chile, so have a good knowledge of the country’s geography too. We followed their recommendations for our two day stay and feel we made the most of our short visit. Transport around the city is easy and cheap, so the location away from the main hotel and restaurant area is not a problem at all.
Cons: Very little to complain about, other than mentioning that some of the fittings show signs of age, such as the shower unit in our room, which is fitted with a very modern power shower, but the doors were coming off their sliders, the tray was slightly cracked and the powerful jets went straight over the top of the unit, soaking the room!
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The owners, Doris and Carolina, are the only staff and from the start treated us more as friends than as guests at the hotel. The hotel is on the hill above Valparaiso, but with the information provided by our host, it was made easy to find our way in and out of the area, at very reasonable costs. Where else could you expect the host to provide you with a guided tour of the easy access from the town? The whole experience was enchanting!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing, nice area, great host.
Cons: The bed mattress was too soft.
7.5 Good
Pros: This is basically a museum. Run by 2 sisters whose grand granddad build the house in 1919. Since then it was the family house and nothing has changed. You are in all the old stuff. Great breakfast on a Terrasse with a view over the city private parking (but a bit a challenge to get into the garage) Sisters who run it are perfect hosts Price Value is nice
Cons: The place has this old smell Bathroom was across the floor Beds are kind of old
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very warm attention. Perfect breakfast.
Cons: Slow wifi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the BEST hotel we stayed in, during our 3 weeks journey. And this was solely due to the 2 sisters who made you feel at home instantly. Whenever you come in, they offer coffee and tea, make pancakes, treat you like a part of the family! The room was great, filled with antiques and curiosities. We slept like angels and were spolt from the first to the last second
Cons: I personally did not mind, but the house is old, and as such has also an old bathroom. It's also steep uphill, so maybe not to be recommended for people with walking difficulties.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The two sisters who own the property are so gracious and helpful. Beautiful view of Valparaiso and ocean. Loved to see the twinkling lights of the city below at night. Nice to see how people live in this city
Cons: I would never drive here
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from my room was glorious...looking out over the central business of Valparaíso, the port where I watched many ships sail in and out, then the amazing ocean. The collective taxis were easy to use and very reliable. The two young women who run the property were absolutely lovely. They helped me in so many ways and always had a smile and a laugh. They also told me many local stories about Valparaíso and Santiago which helped me to get a better understanding of the area. I will always recommend them and their Grand House to everyone. It was such a lovely relaxing place to stay with big bright breezy rooms, beautifully decorated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are delightful people. They are very friendly and helpful. The exterior terrace has a very nice view of the city and harbor.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing and delicious. Doris and Catarina are amazing people. A warm welcome and cups of coffee when required. They went beyond their call of duty and Catarina took me down to get the right tour and then when I was taking the bus to Santiago. Their consideration for me not speaking Spanish was making me feel at ease. They have a wonderful business here and deserve the highest accolades. Thank you Doris and Catarina.
Cons: The only fault was the bed. The mattress was uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We couldn't have picked a better hotel in Valparaiso. Our host Doris was lovely and very helpful in informing us about the highlights of the town. Breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand House.

Pros: Nice, clean, large and comfortable rooms. Kind and smiling staff. Very nice breakfast. The integrated burger restaurant offers excellent dinners.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice rooms with everything necessary, excellent restaurant
Cons: Pillow too big, bed sinked in the middle
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed at LaJoya berfore for 10 days, the location, the staff and the room are really amazing!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: close to the bus station, you can just drop your bags and hit the city, you can go to the old town with a trolleybus. Staff is helpful, English speaking, providing all the guidance and information
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was awesome. There was hot water, a stocked kitchen, good wifi, good shared space, a bar, and a restaurant. I could have lived there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean through out, lots of privacy in the dorms. It was a bit of a walk into the centre but that’s one of the things I liked.
Cons: Breakfast was a bit wired, the first morning I only had cereal and a bit of fruit, I was up early and the only person having breakfast and I had no idea there was anything else to eat. Then on second morning I found out that you need to ask for eggs and bread. No one volunteered this information - not sure if this was a money saving technique.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Considering the price, they do an excellent job. The location is very practical (next to the harbor and thus close to good transpo). The front-desk guys are friendly and helpful, particularly Felipe, who speaks English like a native. We had a private double room, which was a bit spartan but spotless and thoughtfully designed. The beds are situated in an upper alcove. If you need to get to the bathroom at 2 in the morning, descending the steps could be challenging. But tucking the beds upstairs makes the accommodation a lot more spacious. We also appreciated the nautical theme evident throughout the hostel and adjoining restaurant. Fastest internet we’ve ever seen, and a decent breakfast.
Cons: My only suggestion would be to add a chair in the room. (It had only one chair and one beanbag).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fairly good (included delicious scrambled eggs). I also ate at the restaurant one evening it was probably the best burger I've had in Chile. Joint co-working space is super convenient! Enjoyed the roof common space and in the single room the bed was super comfy.
Cons: Coffee at breakfast is poor and the location is close to the bus stop and Jumbo but not too much else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service was great! nice place and location.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Had a bar and restaurant on site. Price included breakfast too.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great personel, very friendly. Room was tidy and big enough, clean bathroom and the view from the (shared) terrace was priceless. Breakfasts were very good.
Cons: Just small details, e.g. two drawers were not fully functioning. There was however still plenty of space in two other closets.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: very clean and comfortable
Cons: far away from the center

Pros: Lovely clean room. Good breakfast
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable
Cons: I booked a double room and I was given a twin room.

Pros: Good atmosphere. Nice postcard from Valparaiso.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Juanita and Annamaria did so many extras for us—she got us a plug in heater, eggs for breakfast, taxis, let us use her microwave/toaster/dishes for evening meals. We liked the comfortable bed, lots of space for we had the family room, hot hot showers, HBO channel in English, mini market and liquor store nearby, easy to walk downtown or take bus.
Cons: It was cold for the buildings don’t have heat. Juanita helped us with the electric heater. No restaurants in the area so had to go downtown for food or big grocery stores.

7.1 Good
Pros: Accommodation for a good price in a great location
Cons: Unlike in pictures, we did not feel like in a boutique/design hotel, all was pretty standard, no problems or issues, but nothing we would particularly find cool. The room and the bathroom is quite small.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really nice view.. clean and compfortable..

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast!
7.9 Good
Pros: 1. Nice room with a nice sea view 2. Great breakfast 3. Very friendly stuff
Cons: Not much to add
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great. They were helpful and attentive. An old friend was in town so we grabbed a bottle of wine and headed downstairs. As soon as one of the staff saw the bottle he ran and grabbed a corkscrew and three wine glasses for us. We relaxed on the closed dining room and enjoyed the evening with no worries. Lots of fun stuff nearby as well.
Cons: Rooms are a bit cramped for two people and have to live out of suitcase. That's fine for a weekend but we were on a longer trip and passing through with larger bags. Not that big of a deal, though. Also requires getting lucky for a reserved parking space, which we did.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, great views!

Pros: Stylish hotel, great use of timber/wood. Helpful staff that also speaks English. Excellent location with a view, especially from the phantastic rooftop restaurant. Great breakfast.
Cons: Heating was set a bit low.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was tasty and healthy; the room was clean and with a nice view. The shower was amazing.
Cons: It was a little bit chilly, but ok after a while.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good dinner recommendations and helpful staff offering to make reservations. Great free breakfast at restaurant. Wonderful view from restaurant deck. Pretty basic but nice, comfortable rooms. Huge, fluffy towels!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great very modern hotel with concrete walls and some original brickwork. Good sized room. Nice fresh breakfast with great views from dining area. Wonderful area with lots of cafes, bars, restaurants very close. Good vibe and great interior design.
Cons: Room was very cold, but asked to be moved and a heater was provided. We had workmen outside our window from 9 till 6 both days, which meant no privacy, or keeping the blinds down and thus a dark room. Be prepared for stairs as there are no lifts. We were 2 floors down from street level.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fabulous although a little difficult to reach since there isn't car access. The transfer the hotel set up to/from the airport was fantastic and Christian helped with the luggage up the stairs to the property. The rooftop restaurant was exceptional and the food fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Very convenient at the top of the Reina Victoria funicular. Thank you for an awesome stay!
Cons: Our rooms were on the lowest level. There was a slight smell of fuel oil (maybe?). The stairs to the restaurant was a good workout!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really great breakfast with an awesome rooftop view. Very cool space. Super nice and helpful staff.
Cons: The shower head in our bathroom was leaking so it sprayed water up which was a little messy but probably an easy fix.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great central location, good facilities, great attached restaurant
Cons: Very noisy at night due to location and construction
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Fauna is a very nice boutique hotel in the heart of tourist area of Valparaíso. It has very attentive staff who speak and write with excellent English. It has an excellent breakfast and restaurant which has an amazing view.
Cons: Older travellers may be concerned by lack of an elevator but it was not a concern for us.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds . The hotel is very clean and the breakfast is lovely. It is also quite well located in a nice part of town.
Cons: Some of the hotel staff were extremely helpful. Others not so much. Also , I’d recommend to ask for the rooms not located at reception level as you can hear people talking and also the restaurant upstairs until 11.30pm-midnight.
7.7 Good
Cons: Dont pick up 12 room

Pros: beautifully restored house. great breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Once you are settled in, the hotel is located in a excellent area. Close to restaurants, shops and the main tourist routes. The room was very clean and the house in general very cute. Breakfast was ok... Nothing to rave about. No eggs
Cons: The lack of sound proofing between the room and outside, not to mention the reception area was very poor. You can hear everything. I had trouble sleeping because of the noise in the street. The hotel can be a little difficult to find if you don't know the number on the main Street. My taxi driver went round in circles for a while!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, Veronica was very helpful, delicious breakfast, very clean.
Cons: Nothing really but the WIFI was very hit and miss
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a nice little room. The staff was nice and helpful, the breakfast good. Great location in the heart of cerro Concepcion.
Cons: Because it is in the heart of cerro Concepcion, it can be a little noisy during the night, people partying or cars on cobblestone streets but nothing that earplugs won't solve !
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff was really very nice and helpful
Cons: The location is a bit tricky to find
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is simple but fantastic.
Cons: the toilet

Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. For a surcharge, guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle (available on request) and a cruise ship terminal shuttle.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Pathetic breakfast. On our second day we decided to skip it altogether and paid to have breakfast at a cafe.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were welcoming and helpful. The lobby was welcoming and comfortable. A keurig style espresso machine downstairs made mornings more special. If you need a beverage or a pick-me-up, there's a cooler downstairs where you can buy sodas, energy drinks, aloe juice, and still water.
Cons: Conversations, footsteps, other people's TVs, cell phones ringing... all of it entered our room as though our bed were in the center of the lobby with zero walls around us. On Saturday morning at 4:30, someone walked back and forth across our ceiling eleven times in five minutes, then down the stars and back and forth across the lobby. They continued up and down the stairs and across our ceiling till well after 7:30. Every footstep echoed in our room and kept us wide awake. Sleep was not possible with the level of noise that carried into our room. Additionally, one entire wall of our room is floor-to-ceiling windows that look out on the center courtyard and the interior hallways opposite our room. Ordinarily, this would be spectacular... except that the curtains that were meant to provide us privacy weren't big enough and only covered a portion of these enormous windows. With the curtains fully stretched as far as they would go, it was still possible for someone to stand to one side and have a full and unobstructed view of us in our room. Privacy was not possible unless the lights were off. This was rather frustrating.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location, wood fired heater in reception.
Cons: The shower leaked through the floor boards and wet all of our clothes and electrical items. The staff moved us to another room but didn't follow up with us the next day.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, charmingly made over traditional building with cute decor. Fantastic location near restaurants and major attractions. Really helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast is mostly continental but they could real eggs to order as well and make fresh coffee or tea too!
Cons: Our room had a bit of a strange layout with a second level up some steep steps but this is inherent to such a beautiful old building and part of the charm as well. Hot water takes a while in the shower but they warn you adequately - you just need to let it run for about 1 minute turned to maximum flow and at maximum heat before the hot water comes.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and helpful staff.
7.9 Good
Pros: All you need is a clean room with a comfortable bed and good hot water (it was hot but took a long time to come through) - Hotel Da Vinci ticked all these boxes. Staff were very friendly & helpful, even with the language differences.
Cons: I chose the single room over two storeys, and the headroom was not good for a tall person like me. This was my choice, not a criticism of the hotel. In hindsight I should have paid more for a room with full headroom.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner was really helpful and let us check in early. He showed us where to go and where not to go. Even helped organise a rental car with a local company when none of the websites would allow us to book one online. The location was great because its situated not far from everything. It's a easy walk to the main bars, close to banks and there are restaurants just up the hill on the same street. You have to get use to the plumbing in the showers as you have to run the water for quite a while before it gets hot but there are signs in the bathroom telling you what to do. The only issue was the curtains on the first floor bedroom did not fully cover the whole of the window facing the outside. However, we enjoyed it so much that we returned the following week on the way back to Santiago and got a room on the ground floor which had one of the most comfortable beds we had slept in during our trip.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was outstanding. Location right in the heart of the arts scene. Wonderful food close by. Real find.
Cons: Inside room was musty and so they moved us to a better one.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Super hotel in Valparaíso. Location is very good close to the palazzo Barbarigo. Walking up the hill, you are surrounded by what makes Valpo so beautiful. Staff is super friendly and helpful with info. Free coffee and tea provides near the reception. Breakfast is good. Would definitely go again!
Cons: Rooms are a bit classic, but everything you need is present.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I loved the coffee and the kindness of the owner and his staff. It was 4 min walk from my work, very convenient location.
Cons: The first room I had was a bit too small. They moved me to a larger room.

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Planning an event in Valparaiso? This hostel has facilities measuring 269 square feet (25 square meters), including conference space.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, comfy beds with plug and light, spacious bathrooms, clean kitchen with emphasis on recycling
Cons: It was a bit cold for the terrace so a more comfortable indoor area would have been nice
7.1 Good
Pros: Great location, nice intention. Great price! Breakfast was also a bonus.
Cons: The central room with bunkbeds was noisy at night with staff moving around to clean/ returning late at night to snack in the kitchen. The reception and doorbell are through one wall (with windows) of this room and the bathroom with a motion-triggered hallway light leaches through the window/curtain of another wall, and then the kitchen is at the other end plus the bedrooms upstairs cause this room to be very noisy and not so restful.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location was decent and reasonably priced for the room size
Cons: Staring at menstrual cup samples over breakfast table. Checking in when I was charged 2,000 usd and took a week to recover (mind me am back packing) and lastly the yet last untrained volunteer chasing me for the payment I did already at 7 am with Uber waiting. Recycling award given likely on the ground of having differential trash cans scattered across all property (read everywhere). Way to many volunteers ratio compared to guests adding to the cost cutting “environmental friendly” exercise. I honestly hope the good reviews that lead me here are not driven by some bias as just my own utterly unconvenient individual experience. Suggestion to management : while volunteers are clearly a way to save cost, kindly ensure they are fully trained, not occupying the lot and ensuring that guests of all types ( we are in an amazing diverse world after all ) are treated with respect.
6.7 Good
Cons: Felt like we were interrupting the “volunteers” at all times who had run of the house. They were not very helpful or approachable. Felt uncomfortable in the accommodation. No actual staff members present.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Awesome breakfast, good location. Nice place Nice staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Large and clean rooms and bathrooms. Good connectivity. Good for people who do not want to climb the hills with large backpacks in order to search for the hostel, since the hostel is situated in a flat area. Many supermarkets nearby. Good supermarkets nearby.
Cons: If you are planning to explore the hills for the best graffiti and murals you need to walk.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: nice breakfast, good kitchen, friendly staff, beautiful house I liked that they care about the environment!
Cons: the beds in the dorms aren't that comfortable, but nothing to worry about. One girl had bedbugs though, although they immediately sorted the problem out!
4.2 Okay
Pros: The most "eco" part of the hostel is it's zero waste tea set up in the morning.
Cons: No keys given upon check in. I asked about how to enter at night and was assured somebody would always be at the desk at night if I rang the bell. When I actually did return to my hostel at night nobody answered the bell and I had to actually climb the gate to get back inside, and it being late at night and being a solo female traveler in a dodgy part of town this left me really unsettled. Additionally, the "beautiful view" and "private balcony" on the 5 person dorm are absolute baloney. The view is nothing more than the street outside and the balcony is literally just a window, you can't walk out on anything at all. Not worth the splurge. Room was super small and I felt on top of the other patrons, and my backpack didn't fit in the provided locker. Only 4 bathrooms with showers attached means there they are all constantly full, good luck if you have to pee in the middle of the night or you need to use the bathroom when you wake up. To top it all off, the hostel is pretty far from the tourist sites and fun parts of the city one actually wants to see. Next time, I'm staying somewhere in the Cerros and skipping this one.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location is easy to walk to the cerros
Cons: the bed sheets didn’t seem clean and I only saw them get changed once (on other beds)

6.5 Good
Pros: The staff was above and beyond, welcoming and helpful. breakfast was great with a wide selection of foods, beds were comfortable and bathrooms were nice.

Cons: Not so well isolated for noise from other rooms. As most hotels ( noisy people)

Our room was clean and large with the hotels great location to the sights of Valparaíso. Breakfast although a little limited is adequate and tasty. Overall we have had a great stay. Thank You.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so smiley and helpful. The breakfast buffet had so much choice including fresh fruit, juices, eggs and pastries.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was good although the eggs were a little watery. My only complaint was that pool was undergoing maintenance and they also closed the guy for some reason. Couldn't they have at least left the gym open? otherwise no real complaints. Front desk was great and good location. Andy
Cons: the gym could have stayed open.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming old hotel. Creaky floors and great views
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous building, historic, well maintained. Great attention
Cons: Our room had a tiny bathroom, we almost couldn’t fit in the shower. But it is understandable since it is a historic building turned into a hotel , they had to put bathroom in former closets and other small spaces.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in one of the oldest buildings in Valparaíso. It oozes history & charm in its little corridors and sitting rooms. The location is ideal for exploring the winding streets of the city and checking out the street art. The staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast offered a nice variety and we felt very at home here.
Cons: While a very nice hotel, we felt the price was a little high.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great. With view on the ocean. Very comfortabel bed. Warm room and bathroom. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff. The free parking just 20 meters from the hotel entrence. I was confused and thought that it was a hotel besides the parking but it was a hostel. Please search hotel very nearby. The old downtown is around
Cons: Niets
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This hotel has stunning interiors and is perfectly located close to loads of art and cafes. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy and there’s great views from just outside the hotel. You can see a behind the scenes view on my Instagram (@expatpanda) under the “Chile” highlight.
Cons: Breakfast was lacking in variety and there was no one there to man the buffet. Food was finished and not replenished on time. Also there were no hot food options. This is the only negative about this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location and view!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice location, very warm room for winter, nice size of the room, nice view,
Cons: The check-in programmed is late at 3:00 PM, and also we were waiting for 2.5 additional hours to be in the room because there was an air-condition's maintenance...they provided a nice cocktail for the waiting time but the check-in at 5:30 pm was really late for us. The good thing was that the personal and owner of the place was really nice explaining the problem and they finally solved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was so impressed. Great staff, from front desk to the waiters in the restaurant that is connected. Old, historic building with incredible views. Feels like my grandmother’s home. Perched on hill overlooking bay. Rooms may be small, but this should be expected in an older “house”. The breakfast was solid, the basics. Cheese, ham, toast, juice, yoghurt. I had a car and parking was super tight. But the neighborhood that the hotel is in has narrow roads. The neighborhood that the hotel is in was perfect for us. Bars, restaurants. Just a great final night in Chile for us.
Cons: In relationship to where the hotel was, nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely. The manager Claudio was very helpful and pleasant and offered us a free upgrade which was fabulous. The house is beautiful, central for great street art and good value restaurants. Very close to the funicular which is handy
Cons: The breakfast was adequate but basic
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Excellent breakfast. Very clean
Cons: Room was very small for two people plus luggage. Lobby was uncomfortable for reading/relaxing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old house. Fantastic location near lots of street art, cafes, restaurants and shops. Lovely views of the port.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed. 1 Large room. Location. Close to shops.
Cons: Loud night noise. Charged additional for single beds with no sheets. Had to use sheets from gold out bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely helpful. Conveniently located next to a Metro station, and an easy walk to Cerro Alegre which features numerous restaurants ranging from exquisite to budget.
7.7 Good
Pros: Staff at front desk were friendly enough and spoke a little English; elevators were functioning and clean, room was minimalist but clean and comfortable and quiet; bathroom was clean with nice showerhead; front desk called a private taxi for us when we checked out. A young man on the staff went out of his way to let us know how long we could expect to wait for the cab and to let us know when it arrived for us.
Cons: We missed the full breakfast, so when we went to the self-serve breakfast afterward, the options were limited to basically bread, coffee, and tea. That would have been fine, except staff did not seem interested in making breakfast easy or comfortable for us. The area was messy from the full breakfast earlier that morning, and we had to ask where to sit and how to get our food, because the staff in the cafe area were not especially attentive or helpful to us obvious foreigners.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Friendly stuff, nice breakfast.
Cons: Average hotel, no facilities, bad view from my room. The hotel is just built over a train station and a parking. Our taxi driver went into this parking and we couldn't use the elevator to the lobby of the hotel. Totally frustrating.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed was really comfortable and the shower was great.
Cons: Bed and shower
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is just a few steps from a Valparaiso metro station. The staff is very nice. The hotel is not luxurious but is very comfortable, clean and we had a really nice view from our room.
Cons: Breakfast water wasn't hot enough for tea. Everything else was very nice and comfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice location with seaview, comfortable and clean. The colorful outdoor appearence fits perfectly with the city
Cons: Limited choice for breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, friendly staff
7.9 Good
Pros: History, harbor food, flea market, Vinya del mar, Naruda etc.
Cons: did not stay long enough to find out.
9.2 Excellent
Cons: Typical ibis hotel experience - clean, comfortable and your normal 3 star hotel quality. Location is good for normal tourist sites in Valparaiso. Staff were kind enough to open bottles of wine purchased at bodegas to drink privately.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Ibis is located right on the docks and above the metro station. We loved the colors of the barges and the city outside our window. The location was so central to museums, the historic neighborhoods and important monuments.
Cons: Breakfast was pretty weak and the pillows were a bit clumpy.
