The bar and hotel setting was very nice.
Difficult to sleep, rooms to warm and AC was very poor.
Our room was facing toward the street and we could hear the sound of the recycling truck gathering glass bottles really early in the morning.
the place is very nice old space with vaults and very nice furnishing and decoration the breakfast was really astonishing... some kind of perfect! the location allows to wander around the inner Visby town.
the bathroom sounds a little old and not as good looking as the rest the staff did not look for very much helping or satisfying us. They close the swimming pool quite early and really do not want to give you five mn extra to test it... then we could not swim, because it was closed all the time...
The breakfast was OK, nothing special, not super duper. The location is very good, at most center part.
The room is smaller then on the pictures at the website, at least twice smaller. The hotel were cheating on the picture on the booking com - that's for sure. One of the reception girls were not very pleasant and at that moment when we just arrived reception were "understaffed" (lack of stuff and too many people in queue waiting). The other reception girl next day were quite nice, and helpful. The beds are too soft, and so the sleep is fine but my back asks for more harder mattress at the hotel bed. But the price/facilities value I consider is overpriced, but that's Sweden - everything is overpriced here in compare with other Europe. The swimming pool at SPA of the hotel you need to pay extra if you want to visit, at 4 star hotel! (terrible) In general Gotland is fine and the city look very nice, but it is very cold! We were freezing at the end of the June! When at my country (where I am from) it was +33, there at Gotland it were +14 in the morning and +16/17 in the day with freezing sea wind (all the days were like that, no exceptions)! Not the best place to visit at the summer if you want to get summer warmth, I was wearing autumn clothes to feel good, when at the same time Swedish were walking half naked, that was freaking me out (it is absolutely ridiculous to see how they build there resorts with swimming pools - this is complete waste at such a weather, I would never swim at 16 degree of the air, I am not a Baltic Sea seal or a seagull). And the most ridiculous is when I saw an aqua-park! It is open air and air was +15/16, it was like a fridge! Swedish were happily splashing in the water, when I was in long sleeve jacket with covered head, warm pants, socks and closed shoes. The cold wind was bone piercing, but Swedish consider its a fine weather, so they were swimming, no problem for them. I was shocked. Probably those people just had an reincarnation as a walrus in previous life's ;)
Breakfast was great. Location is also outstanding. But basically, that`s all that was on the plus side
Extremely child-unfriendly place, worst experience with the hotel booked through booking.com so far :( A lot of things went wrong, in the first place, we ordered a room for three of us (our child is 7 and needs a separate bed). All details about kid were stated and booking.com showed us a room with twin or double bed for us and a separate bed for a kid, which we booked. But when we arrived, we were placed in a tiny room with one double bed. Management staff claimed that 1) booking.com does not give info about kids to the hotel, then that 2) we didn`t state our child`s age, 3) we had to book an additional bed for him and didn`t do it through booking, 4) it`s normal policy for hotel to let kids up to 12 years to sleep with their parents in one bed and that a lot of their customers bring kids beds and beddings with them, 5) they have no available rooms of bigger size, 6) we have to pay for additional bed (we didn`t have to pay in the end). Before we arrived we had a communication with the hotel about bicycle rental and it included info about our kid, so hotel definitely knew that 3 of us were coming. Also, their sauna and swimming pool accept kids up to the age of 13 only in the morning (and you still have to pay to use the facilities). We are travelling a lot and always book through booking.com, and bringing our kid with us was never an issue....
