We will never forget these breakfasts & dinner with Kaiseki style. The owner Naokazu-San (Father), the wife and their son Youichi-san are very kind and hospitality. The garden is very nice.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hosts where very nice and friandly, they assist us planning our visit at mount fugi aria and our way to the next location, the host made reservation for us and took us in his car to the bus station. In the ryokan there is a nice Hansen that we used and it was very nice. The have several bycecles which are free to use.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This traditional Japanese ryokan was ideally located for Mount Fuji and the 5 Lakes areas. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and the accommodation was spacious and spotless. The optional breakfast was well worth paying for. An ideal place to stay.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host's were great, they went out of their way to help us find out about and even drove us to catch the bus that goes around the lake and back to FujiQ. Lovely people.
Cons: The pillows were very small and flat but this may be traditional?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very large and roomy. You will be sleeping on tatami mats and futons, so be aware of that before booking. The couple that runs the guest house is super friendly and helpful! The husband helped drive us to dinner our first night there since we arrived a bit late in the evening. They are super friendly and speak a little bit of English. The breakfast was available for an extra 800 yen, and it consisted of eggs, meat, a salad, and bread for toast. There was also coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, and carrot juice available for drinks. It was very much worth it; the dining area is very large and the food was very nicely made. The guest house is about a one-minute walk to Lake Yamanakako, and just a 10-20 minute walk to nearby restaurants. It was far enough away from the roads and other attractions that the evenings were very quiet and peaceful. The bathing facilities on-site are also very nice!

Pros: The room was spacious, the onsen was in operation (but we didn't use it). The breakfast was plentiful and delicious! The lady who runs the place is very kind and hospitable. Overall I liked it. Keep in mind that you'll be sleeping on futons, but you can double up if there are extras I suppose.
6.3 Good
Pros: Located near the lake. Breakfast
Cons: There was a ‘funny’ smell, specially in the first floor
6.3 Good
Pros: The Onsen
Cons: No heater, no English staff, not much English explanation
7.9 Good
Pros: Able to wake up early and pop out to see Mt. Fuji in the distance. The tatami room and sleeping on the futon was surprisingly comfortable and I slept very well.
Cons: Arriving later and checking out the next day meant I didn’t have time to use the onsen. You simply can’t wash after 10pm, so arrive early to gain the full benefits. No air conditioning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady that is in charge of the ryokan is just an amazingly sweet person: she is taking care of her customers as if they were her own children! The breakfast is fantastic and enormous, we never could finish it. Unfortunately, it was raining like hell, but a very nice tea was waiting for us in our room at our return and the onsen/ofuro too! This ryokan is near the lake and bus stop (ichinohashi).
Cons: Note that the payment is done by cash only
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owners are absolutely charming and eventhough they don't speak English, they do everything possible to make you feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The authentic Japanese accommodation.. The host was so attentive to our needs and provided the renown Japanese hospitality experience. Although she spoke no English, she was able to communicate effectively throughout our stay A great view of Mt Fuji from the bedroom window
Cons: A more detailed description of the location would have been helpful. We ended up having to get assistance from a local
10.0 Excellent
Pros: its was the 2nd time we checked into this gem near lake Yamanagako ,The 1st time was in 2017 and everything remained good especially the helpful smiling elderly lady who is one of the main reason for our return.

Pros: The breakfast was delicious (Oishī)! Made with care with different variations every day. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was looked after, including going above and beyond with recommendations for food and activities in the area. They even offered to pick me up from a local bus stop however I had a hire car so was not required.
Cons: The room was a little noisy on my first night with some late people arriving.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, so yummy and fresh! The Staff is super nice and helpful. Great little bath, with times you can sign up for. Lots of open space outside.
Cons: The room is pretty plain, but if you're only there to sleep, it's all you need!

Pros: The communal area is very good... they provide some games for families to get together and have a relaxing time.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff & owner were very nice. We booked the Holiday home which was very spacious and homey for a large group. Has dining area & kitchen where you can have a nice meal gathering :)
Cons: You have to wait for hot water to come out (there is a warning written in japanese though) 1st floor rooms can hear loud footsteps from upstairs (assuming your companions run around a lot)
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms were basic but clean. The service was outstanding. Our hosts made every effort to make us feel at home and accomodated our trips. The hostel has a kids lounge with playstation. The kids loved it and made friends there. The BBQ was really great! We loved the outside and the surroundings at this place are stunning. I don’t think there are better views of Mt. Fuji. It is somewhat off the beaten track but with some preparation it can be reached from Gotemba station or by bus from Tokyo.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were all together in one big log house.
Cons: Lack of cooking utensils.

Pros: Nice hotel based on Japanese traditions. The property was run and maintained by husband and wife I guess. They are very friendly and particular about the maintenance of the place. The only issue which we had was the hotel was not very well known to lot of people so we need to carry luggage for about 1.5km. The place is next to Yamanakako village office which is the landmark for this property.
7.9 Good
Pros: they have not card payment option, or they are closed the are close the main door after 11 pm....but my booking time no condition

Pros: It's very good location, very near bus stop (1-2 min.walk) and very nice scenary ; The staffs were very friendly. The sceneries was very beautiful, lake Yamanakako and Fuji.mt.This property provided a lot of facilities; hot table (kotatsu), heater, in Japanese rooms style.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved it. Lovely people. Great first experience with a ryokan.
Cons: However off season there is not much to do nearby, but you can rent a bike for sightseeing or take the bus (30min) to kawaguchiko centre wich is very busy and offers many touristic activities
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A true Japanese guest house experience. So homely! The hosts were so warm, friendly and accommodating. They booked our bus for us to our next destination and even drove us to the bus stop in the heavy snow. They offer traditional robes and an onsen style bath. As three young women travelling we truly felt looked after.
Cons: The room was a little dusty, which I struggled with as I have allergies, my travel companions however were absolutely fine. This being said it was winter and difficult to give the room a really good spring clean, I also may have been affected by the beautiful cherry blossoms everywhere :')
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Owner and his wife are so nice and friendly. Feel like at home

Pros: the place is very wonderful

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay if in the area. I stayed here after climbing Mt. Fuji. The view out the window is amazing over the lake. Unfortunately, it was rainy, so I only got a glimpse of Mt. Fuji during my one night stay. Staff is great and speaks good English.

Pros: The location was perfect, right in front of the lake. You get a beautiful view of Mount Fuji from the window. 5 minute walk to a 7/11, bike rental, bus stop and information centre. The owner was wonderful!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Owner is very nice welcoming person. Speak sufficient English and can give advice about what to do or where to go nearby. Spacious room with traditional tatami and Futon bed. We enjoy the stay.
Cons: Overall cleanness is acceptable, building and furniture a bit old. We have not seen air conditioning but was not needed in September.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful guest house, very traditional simple rooms (rice pillows..) Stunning view of mount fuji in the morning on a clear day. Lovely host with plenty of information for area. Would definitely stay again. Can recommend. Great value for money.
7.1 Good
Pros: The view from the room is great and the land in front of the budget hostel is perfect for watching the sunrise on FUJI, the owner is helpful.
Cons: wifi is poor we had to use our phones, having to wear small pink slippers in the house, this place could get cold easily, not much to do nearby not easy to find food options. expensive for what you actually get, other options nearby were booked up.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, stunning location. We had the best view of Mount Fuji. The host was lovely and spoke English fluently. He let us in 1 hour prior to check in time as it was raining and made sure our room was ready. In our 3 weeks in Japan it was one of the nicest and cheapest rooms.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: everything was great , the privet hotel onsen espiecially :)
4.2 Okay
Pros: It was a very traditional Japanese experience
Cons: I asked for a room for 3, they gave me a room that held “4” with 2 floor mats smaller than twin beds. We stayed 2 nights for 32,000¥ ($320.00) shower was downstairs, public, and only open for use in the morning and evening, toilets are also downstairs and public. And the hotel is yen only so I had to search the area for an ATM. That last tidbit would have been nice to lean about on your booking website.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner is nice and helpful. Japanese-style room is clean and spacious. Since we were the only group of travelers staying there, we were glad we could privatize the toilet/bathroom/pantry. We didn't have problem with its location as we were driving. There is a big supermarket and hotspring spot nearby. Very happy overnight stay !

Cons: Shared bathroom facilities

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice friendly staff. Great views of lake and mnt fuji.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The onsen with view was fantastic. I don't think you can get so beautifu/close to mt fujil as much as this place with onsen.and they have quite a lot shuttles from the bus stop to hotel and if you ring them from bus stop anytime you want, they will pick you up within 10 mins. All the staff is lovely also!
Cons: We have heard a lot noises from the hall. And food was very pricy for what it was. We have had a Japanese shabu shabu for the first night. It was 8,500 yen per person but the meat was not fresh enough, the food was not that great. It was still tasty but I wouldn't pay for the amount again.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location and the Japanese restaurant was excellent.
Cons: The building is tired and run down. They charged for swimming
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff there a very friendly and diligent at there work. They are very quick on there feet and very understanding of my language.
Cons: There beds are not soft at all.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic view of Mount Fuji from our room. Incredible staff that went above and beyond. Beautiful onsen facilities.
Cons: Having to request to have the room made up. Restaurants and food in the hotel were very expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are very friendly and offered great service. Offered free shuttle bus picking us up from a bus stop and take us to the lake side to see Mt Fuji. From our room window we can see Mt Fuji clearly. The hotel garden offers great view of MT Fuji. It is a wedding site and so with proper position, you can take great pictures of the Mt Fuji. The hotel is at the top of a mountain itself and so it offers clearer view of Fuji Mt than when you are at lower ground. It is great at sunrise.
Cons: The only issue we have is the first shuttle to the lake side is 8:45am. That is too late for us especially Mt Fuji was so clear and beautiful without cloud before 8:30pm today. When we got to the lake side by 8:50 am, it was already cloudy and so we missed the best photo opportunity. It will take an hour to walk down to the lake side by foot.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was convenient and it was possible to get a bus direct from Shinjuku to within 600mtrs. The common facilities allowed for self catering with pre-prepared meals from the Family Mart just up the road. Free bikes were available to cycle around the lake- great views!
Cons: All was good
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel onsen was small but very pleasant. We loved sleeping on the traditional tatami, and the bedding and blankets were very comfortable. The smell that everyone is talking about comes from the bamboo mats; it may be an unfamiliar smell, but it’s nothing to be afraid of! Unfortunately, it was very overcast and rainy during our stay so we weren’t able to see Mt Fuji. We did, however, take the bikes for a short ride around the lake (in the rain). It’s easy to see that, in the sun, this place would be beautiful and breathtaking. You can reach the hotel on one bus from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. However, we visited during 2019 Typhoon Hagibis, and the highway had fallen trees and power lines all over it, so we had to take a longer route, then switch to a local bus. There’s a family mart and some small restaurants nearby that are accessible by foot, bike, or bus. The hotel is equipped with a coin-operated laundry and dryer, all the kitchen equipment you would need to cook a meal, and thoughtful toiletries (even hair ties and shaving razors!) We would highly recommend staying here if you’re in the Yamanakako-mura area :)
Cons: If your visit happens to fall on a rainy day, there isn’t much to see or do. Getting to and from the hotel can also be quite a journey (if you’re travelling back to main cities such as Kyoto or Tokyo).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy and simple place for overnight. All Restoranas and market’s are near. Free bicycles.
6.3 Good
Pros: The Bath, despite being old it s still nice and good for relaxing open night time as well.
Cons: Old place which could be improved by spending some money on it and it will be a nice place, pricey as well and uncomfortable room where we couldn't sleep well since it was cold during the night . Low quality tea and coffee machine..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed, nice property.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
7.9 Good
Pros: Traditional Japanese style hotel situated on Yamanakako lake, walk out from hotel & can see Mt. Fuji very closed.
Cons: Share bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had the most wonderful stay at Hatago Ichiya! The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to find me the best route of getting to my next destination in time. They also explained the hiking routes around the area so that I could make the most of my stay there. I loved that you could use the bicycles for free to explore the lake and surrounding areas. Amazing traditional rooms and glorious hot baths as well!! I couldn’t recommend this place enough, thank you for an amazing time
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: I din’t like share toilet..

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location on the banks of Lake Yamanakako. 2 minute walk to get great view of Mount Fuji. Best for sunrise, see the light hitting the peak and moving down the mountainside. We were there in Oct 2019 and it was very quiet, nearest store is about 1.5km. The property has bikes you can use free of charge. We loved just cycling around and enjoying the quiet. There is a great onsen about 2km away. Rooms are spacious with sofa and kitchenette. Owners extremely helpful and provided lifts to restaurants and bus terminal. You get a great and very hearty breakfast. The nearest bus stop is 100m, buy a 2 day unlimited ticket for the best deal.
Cons: Buses stop early evening which makes getting to a restaurant more challenging. That said it may be different in high season.

You can rent bicycles for free if they’re available:) We arrived late at night, but the owner made an arrangement so that we can go straight to our room without checking in. They are very considerate. The room was spacious and clean:) We forgot a small stuff in the room. They sent it back to us via postal service for free..! (It was inexpensive because of the size and domestic shipping) I hope I get the chance to stay here again!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady owner was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and so well set up for a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was delicious and very generous as well as home cooked.
Cons: Small matter - paper cups and plates are provided. Proper crockery will be much better as the paper cups are not suitable for hot drinks. I scalded myself on the first morning.

Pros: Very kind staff, clean and cosy.

We even got a free taxi in the morning to our bus stop. But the town is quite empty and closed this time of year. Great for people searching peace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great and remote. The owner has a service with a local taxi man that brings you from the bus stop to the hotel and back again when you leave. Very peaceful with great views of my fuji.
9.2 Excellent
Cons: It was pretty cold inside the house, but apart from that everything was great.
7.9 Good
Pros: The free bike use was great, although they could do with some servicing. Was really quiet at the property, and the rooms had plenty of space.
Cons: It was a bit remoter than I thought but overall was good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The shared bath could be used privately, which my husband and I really enjoyed. We loved the location, which was off the main road, but close enough for us to walk to the lake and nearby restaurants. The person at the front desk was very helpful with providing information. Additionally, when I got sick and had to leave early, they graciously refunded our last night's lodging - we really appreciated that!!
Cons: The room felt a little dated - worn carpet and paint. Not a deal breaker, though, and we would stay again. Also, would have been nice to have screens on the windows - it was a nice temperature outside but we didn't dare open the windows for fear of letting mosquitoes in.

6.7 Good
Pros: Breakfast comprised a basket with some juice, bread rolls and jam with butter. It filled a space, but somewhat underwhelming.
Cons: Location was not the best for our needs. We visited so as to have a stopover where we could view Mt Fugi while on route. The area is very quiet and isolated, with few restaurants or facilities around. The apartment was spacious and reasonably clean, however you do need to wear the slippers provided as the floors are a bit dusty and sticky.
