10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed at the hotel before, last year whilst travelling from north to south - it’s in a perfect location, we’ve travelled fairly extensively throughout Spain and this hotel is our complete favourite. We are greeted as friends by the lovely owner Jose Antonio, and the rooms are out of this world fabulous, with a super comfortable bed and gorgeous decor throughout, it’s an historic property which has been beautifully and lovingly restored. Nothing is too much trouble and we felt thoroughly refreshed ready for our onward journey. Thank you again our friend, your hospitality cannot be beaten and we look forward to seeing you next March :).
Cons: We love every thing about it!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: History, welcoming host. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Parking a bit too far from property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing place! A beautifully and lovingly restored historical building with the most welcoming and informative host you could imagine. Almaden is well worth a visit, especially for the fascinating mercury mines, and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
Cons: Everything was just perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We completely loved our stay here, Antonio was a charming host, he is a wealth of information about Almaden which he generously and enthusiastically shares. We’ve travelled extensively throughout Spain and this house really is the best we’ve ever stayed at, it has been beautifully restored and Antonio is so welcoming. We stayed in ‘Cervantes’ room which was incredible, it was so characterful, spotlessly clean, with a sloping beamed ceiling and huge beds, sumptuously comfortable, it was cosy and warm on a cold March night with central heating, the sweetest en suite bathroom, I could rave on and on about this magical place and award well in excess of 10 stars! Breakfast was adapted at short notice to accommodate our vegetarian diet, with freshly squeezed orange juice and fabulous coffee, sweet home made cake, jams and toast, all really thoughtfully prepared. The gardens are stunning, stocked with beautiful camellias, lavender, rosemary.....we could have easily stayed for much longer than our overnight north to south stop over. We found Almaden to be welcoming, friendly, typically Spanish with a fascinating history, we made a promise to Antonio to return and visit the mercury mine museum next year, we travelled by motorbike, and Antonio generously locked this away in his private garage overnight. Nothing was too much trouble and we loved the experience this fabulous place offered. No wonder the reviews are so very positive, all well earned, thank you sincerely from your grateful guests Jonathan and Melanie
Cons: Nothing it was completely fabulous!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Host very pleasant and could not do enough for you! Building very interesting and unusual.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Authentic Spanish experience
Cons: Nothing. It was great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Sleeping in a 18th century home in rooms which could satisfy a noble and spoiled aristocrat. I have never seen something like that in a hotel. Very helpful owners, englishspeaking. Only 8 rooms all different and with perfect plumbing.
Cons: Difficult to reach the town. 11 kilometers to a little railway station The owner drow me himself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow. Staying at the Hotel Condes Fucares was recommended by a friend who is local to the area, and it far exceeded my expectations. The hosts couldn't do enough to make us comfortable and make our stay as pleasant as possible. The property itself is gorgeous, and the attention to detail in terms of furnishings and guest amenities is impressive. My Spanish is sketchy at best, but Jose Antonio was very kind and used the opportunity to practise his English. I can't wait to stay there again.
Cons: Nothing could have been better. I felt like part of the family.

Pros: Jose Antonio was the most perfect host

Pros: I liked the part that it was within walking distance of the Almaden Mercury Mine museum which was our reason for visiting Almaden.
Cons: Parking was horrible, and after finding a parking place, we were trapped with narrow streets and tight corners that we could not negotiate with our BMW sedan. After backing out of several tight corners, ended up going the wrong way down the main street (7am). This must be a common occurrence, because bystanders helped us find a place to turn. and get out of town

7.0 Good
Pros: Most extraordinary conversion of a bullring into a lovely hotel- not much English spoken in this out of the way spot -our stay only spoilt by the attitude of the spotty young waiter at dinner-when we complained the meal was not charged for.

Pros: Wonderful atmosphere - the only octagonal bull-ring in the world. Genuine rural Spanish experience, in hotel and town. Very little english sspoken! Excellent "menu del dia" - exceptional value.
