The room was spaceous, well lighted, with a nice green view. Sheets were clean smelling fresh, bed very comfortable. Breakfast was nice. Location was perfect, quiet street and really close to center. Staff were super kind, going out of their way to assist and be of service!
It could be so much better with hangers for toweles in the bathroom. Also a litlle bit of fresh vitamins - tomato or a few cucumber slices- would greately improve breakfast. The stairs might be a challange for some people..there's no elevator as this is a very old establishment, the exercise was very good for me, but keep in mind that it's a very steep staircase- not for bad knees or dissabilities.
The room was awful, TV didn't work, window was falling apart, bathroom was stoneage and bed was uncomfortable. The stairs are just plain dangerous. Didn't see a member of staff apart from collecting our keys or the one day we tried the bland breakfast.
Pro: -position: the hotel was near the city center, in a quiet street at 30 minutes by walk from the Central station. Fantastic, because you could experience Amsterdam without the noise of the tourists at night -cleanliness: the structure is old but clean. The towels are changed every day if you ask -they give a free map of the city (useless for me)
Cons: -old structure -photos of the structure do NOT resemble the rooms of the facility -no basic services whatsoever: no hairdryer, no mini fridge in room -no A/C, only one radiator in our room for cold weather. Our room was so hot we couldn’t sleep well - no lift -stairs too steep (think about the most steep stairs you have ever seen. They’ll be more steep) -breakfast is practically non existent: you can choose between coffee or milk, they bring the equivalent of 1 full cup per person. Then they bring 2 slices of cheese, turkey and prosciutto per person. 2 slices of bread per person. Some butter, marmalade peanut butter and Nutella and Spam. That’s it. There is no choice. No buffet. No croissants. They also bring juice. But only orange and non filtered. So also here no choice. -no help in bringing luggage upstairs (room on the third floor, it was exhausting) -in general very low value for money spent. NOT recommended, expecially if you are a family with kids. I went with my girlfriend and we barely endured the 3 days we stayed here
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Host and staff were very nice and helpful for all of our requests. Location is amazing, with Vondell park on the doorstep and a lovely square with bars and restaurants just a short walk away!
1 of our 3 rooms was very small and cramped. Rooms could of done with a fridge and maybe a drink making facility in. A few small items went missing during our stay, not blaming the staff but little bit suspicious.
