Funky little place quirky design
Cool lobby, good breakfast and friendly staff.
Fifth floor room a bit odd. I had to hike up to my room via a very dark and narrow staircase. Please increase the lighting behind the door!
niks
I booked a room with a flatscreen tv , een bank , coffie en tea facilities but it was totally not there . I asked the front desk where I can park the car but he didn't told me that I need to pay .
The hotel was friendly and my room was pleasant. The bathroom was clean and modern, central heating worked and windows opened to give fresh air.
the room smelled fusty when I arrived (but I could open the windows to air it) and the communal areas were a bit shabby. A lick of patent and new carpets are much needed. My TV didn't work.
The staff were very helpful (even though very over-worked). The breakfast was also quite good.
I wouldn't classify it as a 4 star hotel. The safety deposit box and hair dryer in my room were broken, so I had to change rooms. Then the TV didn't work properly in my second room.
Quiet small hotel in a fairly central zone of the upper part of the city of Brussels. Good connections (tram) to city center and points of interest. In easy walking distance of the Royal Palace and National Museum of Fine Art. It was also very close to the place where the conference I attend was held (Bibliotéque Solvay) The staff were civil and helpful. The in house WiFi internet service (charge Euro 15 per 24 hours) functioned fine.
One problem from my point of view (I'm an academic) was that the lighting in the room I was given was not very bright, making it difficult to read and work in the room in the late afternoon/evening. The television decoder was also difficult to operate, and sometimes it kept switching on and off of its own accord. There was no access to BBC World and CNN for some reason. When I arrived, the in room safe did not work (no battery) and the minibar had no contents at all except for an old bottle of milk and a dried out piece of cheese (or something similar). Since I was there for such a short time, I did not bother mentioning these issues to the staff, but I recommend that more attention be given to such details before guests arrive.
very good location; good breakfast; large room; however a bit run-down (curtains), overall positive
see above (room maintainance - curtains were partly ripped) but quite clean.
location, breakfast, peaceful
availability of the staff
This family run hotel was excellent- charming, comfortable and gave a good breakfast. The owners are very pleasant and helpful and the decor is in keeping with the history of the building.
The fact that it is a protected building means that some rooms are accessed by a very steep flight of stairs, not a problem for the able-bodied but could be difficult for the less able.
The courtyard view from Room 101
the hotel is very old, you can hear every movement of other people staying in the hotel which is not nice especially in the morning
