Good value rental value not offset by police corruption and harassmentPros:Service was quick and easy.Cons:Due to police harassment of tourists, identifying them by the rental decal on the car and personal appearance, I turned in my car after one day, rather than keeping it for my entire 10-day visit. I was stopped for no reason within 2 miles of the airport the day I rented the car. I was able to persuade the officer not to ticket me, pleading that I had only picked up the car five minutes before (he claimed I had "illegally changed lanes," a favorite, unproveable local police charge). I confirmed later that day with local friends that police harassment in search of bribes was now rampant in the country. I returned the car as soon as possible and plan never again to rent a car in Nicaragua.Reviewed 23 Jan. 2018

Pros:Personnel at airport were very helpful in making the vehicle available earlier than requested. As soon as the vehicle was returned by previous user I was called to go pick it up.Cons:After driving the vehicle I noticed a noise and took it to a close by location. I was told that I could take the car to their service department to get it checked the next day, drive it and call for road assistance if something went wrong while driving, or return the car since they did not have other vehicles available. I was scheduled to go to a nearby town and had hotel reservations for the night. I had to cancel my plans for that day, returned the car the next day and had to find another company to rent from at a higher rate.Reviewed 14 Jan. 2018

Cons:Hello? I bought it saying "Jeep Wrangler or equivalent". It was in reality a Suzuky Jimmy! which is basically a lifted Smart to me. I had to bargain to get a Toyota 4wheels drive. The places I needed to reach in Nicaragua sometimes know 2ft of water. I didn't pay for a Jeep to be fancy... On top of that, I paid twice the liability insurance: one time to you, and another time to Budget once picking-up the car. I had no other choice if I wanted them to give me the key. It was a mediocre experience and I would like my $12/day liability refunded if you expect me to go back with Kayak again in the future. Best Regards, Guillaume Venturino.Reviewed 1 Jan. 2018

Pros:The customer service agents at the airport desk were pleasant and helpful.Cons:The Suzuki truck we rented was in very, very bad shape. To make matters worse, upon inspecting the car one of the tires was completely flat. Not surprising as they looked like the original tires - 50,000 miles ago. The representative proceeded to fill the flat tire and tell us it would be fine. Well - of course, a day later, we were changing the tire during the middle of our vacation. The most disappointing part of all, is when we returned the car: we notified them of the issue, they checked tire, found the hole but put it back in the truck as the spare tire. We repeatedly tried to tell them the tire needed to be replaced or at the very least repaired but they told us it was fine. Overcharged and defrauded.Pros:Nothing. The whole experience was terrible.Cons:They slacked on the initial review of damage. Luckily we took pictures. They said the pictures weren't clear enough of the tail lights and charged us to repair them even though we bought supplemental insurance because the location did not accept your third party insurance that I purchased through kayak. I understand Spanish well but didn't let them know that and overheard them talking about charging me for it even though the damage was probably already there. The deductible for the insurance was 20% to which they said I never purchased but was clearly on the contract. Then stated that's not how it works. Scam artists. Additionally, they overcharged me, charged me twice and never removed the $600 deposit and paid $40 for the "repair". I have over $1200 in budget charges for a car that was supposed to be $281 + insurance. Please let me know how we can reconcile this. Thanks in advance.Reviewed 12 Dec. 2017
