KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Redwood City

  • Redwood City is a city of adventure. Enjoying the city's major attractions or exploring the streets by relying on public transportation or taxis all day is impossible. Car rentals in Redwood City allow you to drive around with freedom. With a car rental, you can go to Edgewood Park Reserve for an outdoor activity or spend the day at San Mateo County Historical Museum. As you cruise through Redwood, roll down the windows and breathe in the fresh air.
  • Before venturing into more busy streets in Redwood City, get used to the car on a quieter, less-traveled road. This will help you become more familiar with the car and how to operate it before you take it on a busy road such as Broadway Street, Woodside Road, Middlefield Road, and Veterans Boulevard. Most pedestrians and bikers routinely cross these streets without signaling to oncoming vehicles. You should know the slick roads along Spring Street and El Camino Real Street in Redwood City to avoid accidents while driving cheap car rentals in Redwood City.
  • Redwood City is close to San Francisco International Airport. San Francisco has a car rental center that travelers can use to pick up and drop off Redwood City car rentals. To access the car rental center from the airport terminals, you must take the Airtrain Blue Line, an automated people mover system operating 24/7. The blue line connects all the terminals and terminal parking garages with the rental car center.
  • When driving your cheap car rentals in Redwood City, consider preserving the back seat for your kids. Parents who use Redwood City car rentals with children should know the regulations on kids' safety car seats. When traveling across the city, these seats are required for children aged 4 to 5. As a result, be sure to request them when picking up or renting a car from your preferred car provider. All Redwood City rental car pick-up locations have boosters and baby seats available. Car renters who request these seats are typically charged an added fee.
  • Redwood City traffic is generally heavy early in the morning and during late rush hours. Expect a bit of traffic at such times, especially on routes like Highway 101 and avenues like Hopkins Avenue. Nevertheless, Redwood has a small population, so you don't need to worry about traffic. On the other hand, you need to be careful on some roads because mountain lions have been sighted. The animals are from Redwood National and State Parks.
  • Before traveling for your holiday trip and driving your Redwood City car rentals, you should be aware of the toll roads into and out of the city. For instance, there are three toll roads that you should be aware of when moving around Redwood City. These include State Road 237 Express Lanes, Interstate 580 Lanes, and Interstate 680 Sunol Express Lanes. If you are driving outside the city, you should be aware of the two toll roads that connect Red Wood City with Escondido City, these include  I-880 / SR 237 Express Connection Road and I-15 Value Pricing Project Road. You are reminded to pay for these roads using cash in some states, the Fastrack electric payment system, or paying by plate.
  • While driving in Redwood City, expect road construction. It would be best if you programmed your global positioning before traveling so that you know your route. The navigation will also provide alternative ways in case some roads are blocked off. When driving through Hopkins Avenue, be careful because children can run into the street since Stafford Park is on the Avenue. Lastly, prepare for a curvy road at intersections like Hopkins and Alameda de Las Pulgas. It would be best to be alert when driving to such places, especially during rainy weather.
  • Book your rental car in Redwood City at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

Additionally, Redwood Downtown parking has digital signs which guide patrons on available parking spots in advance. While in Redwood, you should download the Parker mobile app, which provides information about the city's lots and garages.

KAYAK

Pros:

Nothing, they refuse to provide a rental car asking for the second driver to have a credit card or a debit card with two bills showing the residence address. Ridiculous, second driver should only need a driver license as long as I provide a major credit card. Enterprise is a complete nonsense - untrained employees.

Cons:

Train your employees!

Pros:

Kayak just screwed me up. There were no cars available even with a confirmed reservation. It was just a waste of time and money for me to travel to the store only to find out this information. Truly, what a pathetic information kayak, I'm never gonna use this site anymore

Cons:

Kayak doesn't use realtime information. So better book through the corresponding website

Made a reservation at Enterprise at Stanford. When I showed up to pick up the car, the location was closed and appeared that it had been closed for several months.

On the web site it said I could use a debit card with proof of flights. When I got to the rental lot I was told that with an out of state drivers license I could not use a debit card there. I had to take two buses and walk quite a ways to get there. Very disappointed and dissatisfied.
