The car rental was closed when I got there despite the website saying they were open till midnight Hidden insurance fees that were not listed anywhere ended up costing me an additional 500$ CAD and their service was horrific. Got a different car than what I requested and they refused to adjust the price accordingly Never again!
Everything was great, i only want to mention one thing about the drop off time. I’ve been able to select 11pm on the website, however the office is open until 7pm and therefore i had to change th drop off time on the scene. It’s just a negative “surprise” and please simply change the selection for the drop off time on the website please.
They did not honor the agreement with kayak. After several schemey attempts to sell/more force me to purchase additional insurance coverages. I told the manager issac on duty that I had confirmed with mexrentacar, via the email listed on their website, that my pre paid coverage already had the required third party liability, and that any other insurance coverage offered would be OPTIONAL. Isaac would not back down and kept pushing that i purchase the additional insurance coverage or else he could not provide the vehicle. Isaac then said my credit card had to be a year or older to be able to proceed with my pre paid agreement. Isaac said I could purchase the additional insurance and they would be able to proceed with the same credit card, waiving the baloney 1-year requirement. Isaac then said if I don’t pay the additional insurance. I would lose the money spent on the pre paid agreement through kayak. The worst way to start your vacation, skip this company at all cost. Gracias.
Terrible. I didn’t get the car. I had to rent a new one from Hertz. At the Mexrentacar they asked me for 2500.00 US dollars as deposit which I agreed having no choice since I was traveling with my kids (2yo and 7 yo). At first they kept me waiting at the counter for 3 hours stating they were unable to find my booking despite providing them all the booking numbers, CC info. Later they asked for 2500.00( two thousand five hundred dollars deposit) which was very strange, when I agreed paying it with my Credit card they said my credit card doesn’t work call u r bank. I called my bank they said no transaction of 2500.00 was made. I mean they said my card didn’t work without using it. Just couldn’t refuse the rental car they gave me tough time and no car. I had to go rent from Hertz even I had already paid to Mexrentacar in advance. NO rental car , No refund. Guys stay away from Mexrentacar a car and go for US rental car companies don’t fall prey to their scam.
They wouldn’t give me the car without insurance the guy was extremely rude and basically said that if anything happens to the car I’m going extorted for huge amounts of money and shouldn’t take it he wouldn’t look at me at all. And told me I won’t get my money back at all. Never use this place if you are travelling in Mexico as a tourist and don’t speak Spanish, because they will rip you off and steal your money.
This rental car is a scam. I booked the car through Kayak to travel from Tulum and drop off at Cancun airport. I paid a premium cost on Kayak. When picking up the car, even though I mentioned my drop-off location, they double charged me. This is cheating the customer. How can we trust Kayak in this?
