The staff was fantastic! They made sure I had everything I needed and went above and beyond what I expected. The location was great - I didn't feel caught up or overwhelmed in the city like I do when I get closer to downtown Chicago. 10/10
Historic building, great food/restaurant (gospel brunch on Sundays sounds like a special experience), wonderfully attentive staff/owner, very accommodating. Very comfortable bed/linens, nice to have kitchenette/fridge, has two air conditioners and fans. Feels like I moved into an historic neighborhood for a few days. If you want a comfy, if dated, getaway on the south side of Chicago, this could be a fun adventure...
This is not a hotel and it’s not modern (except Roku TV and fingerprint door lock - currently (June 2019) the fingerprint lock is malfunctioning). It’s a 100 year old building which looks and feels like a snapshot of early 20th century history. The 11th Ward room was filled with historic local memorabilia. The entrance in the alley between buildings was different for me, but seemed safe in the end. Take a look at the pictures to see if this is the place for you!
Breakfast was very good! Staff, especially Kevin, was friendly and helpful. Room was charming and clean.
Room was on the third floor and there was a long spiral staircase to get there (no elevator), this was inconvenient, but also added to the charm of the place. It's an older building so things like this are to be expected.
Dave's team are so fantastic! The property is a little bit old, but the resources available including a good bed, great pillows, sheets and towels, and excellent breakfast and a very good reception make this worth the while. The breakfast was the best ever I have had in the U.S. We also have some water and coke in the refrigerator for free. The restaurant of the property is simply fantastic.
The old construction of the property and the Internet is a little bit slow.
Awesome breakfast! Quaint place!
