Top tips for renting a car at Cinci./N. Kentucky Airport

  • A car rental at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is a suitable alternative to other modes of transport like the bus or taxis. Not only does a rental car easily get you to your hotel, but it also allows you to move around comfortably during your time in the city. Car rentals are affordable compared to taxis for getting around the city. They also save on time, especially when compared to buses which operate on a fixed schedule and may be unavailable on certain days of the week.
  • The rental car center at CVG is part of the terminal building, so renters should be able to access it easily without shuttle services. The car center is just a short walk from the baggage claim area adjacent to Ground Transport West. Counters are situated on Floors 1 to 4 from the baggage claim area. For instance, rental counters of agencies like SIXT, Budget, and Payless are on Floor 4, while Dollar and Hertz have counters on Floor 2.
  • It's best to drop off your car rental at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport before the expiry of the rental period. You will incur a late return fee if you drop off the rental outside the time agreed with your provider. Moreover, you'll incur an additional if you make the drop-off outside the operating hours of your provider. When making the drop-off, follow the car rental return signs. Ensure you have recorded your mileage and fuel level before dropping the rental agreement at the counter.
  • Do you want a smooth rental experience when you arrive at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport? Consider booking a flight that arrives at CVG between 9 am and 4 pm when the airport is less crowded and less busy. This way, you won't have to endure long lines at the rental counters, which can be frustrating, especially after a long flight. It's also best to fly to the airport during the weekdays as the airport tends to be busy on weekends.

Upon getting vehicle. Upon starting vehicle, it flashed a message that back tire treading low, needs Maintenace or checked. I asked the gentleman working about it at the exit. He said don't worry about it. 'You should be OK' didn't sound promising. So, I asked the supervisor on duty, he said let's switch your vehicle out. Then, upon turning in the vehicle, the scan person was out to lunch, although 3 able bodies sitting and or standing there said just leave the key in the car and when she gets back from lunch, we will make sure to let her know to scan your vehicle back and email you a receipt. Been over 14 hours since that occurred still no receipt. Concerning that 3 employees can sit and aren't crossed train to scan a vehicle in. Doesn't make sense to me. This is a very sad situation at CVG airport.

Of course I think it was too expensive. The previous inconsiderate renter had smoked a cigar. Thrifty did a good job of scrubbing it, but it could be smelled when sitting in sun and cab was hot. All employees were nice and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate renting from Thrifty again.

I was overcharged. They charged me for insurance that I had previously declined via Kayak. They are paperless so I didn't realize the over charge until I saw the email with the bill after I had driven off the lot. I called customer service immediately and was told they couldn't resolve issues on an ongoing rental and to call after I had returned the car. It took multiple calls to resolve.
