Pick-up truck

Budget check-in was kinda grumpy. And worst part was the gas funnel was defective, it took 20 minutes to pump gas cause it was getting stuck in filler. My hand and arm had to work hard to pump the gas each time. And the car was only filled 3/4 of a tank!

Beware. About a week after our return we received a letter igniting we would be charged $450 because the exterior of the car was too dirty. $450 to wash a car???? We were caught in rain and drove on a dusty gravel road. The Jeep was a 4x4. The interior of the car was returned in spotless condition. There was no damage to the exterior, etc. It was dirty. Beware.

Pros:

Pickup at COS was easy for FastBreak members. Bypassed the line, picked up the keys in 30 seconds. The Mazda CX-9 was larger than what we had reserved, which came in very handy. The car was clean and in very good condition. Drop off at COS was super easy--a courteous attendant took the info and within a couple minutes we were inside the terminal.

Cons:

The car was a bit pricey ($80/day) and LDW coverage (had I gotten it) would have been another $35/day.

Intermediate SUV

I asked for an all wheel drive vehicle and was not given one which I was not aware of until getting stuck. For the rest of my time I could not drive up to my accommodations and had to have elderly travel companions walk up a snow covered icy driveway several times due to the fear of getting stuck again. Both of them fell. Given the conditions of my travel in the mountains of CO the vehicle was inadequate.

Cons:

Late evening pickup, rainy night, COS airport. Guy at pick-up counter said that it wasn't possible to inspect car for damage at the moment, so I should just take photos and let him know if there were any problems. Darkness and rain made good inspection impossible. Next morning, noticed a significant issue with wheel. By this point I was half a state away and it was hard to prove that the damage existed when car was picked up. All very shady. Spend nearly three hours trying to reach Alamo COS by phone, and it cannot be done. Calling national Alamo help numbers or even the airport itself yielded no results. They cannot be reached, period. National help lines for Alamo were unable to resolve situation, all told me I had to call specific COS location, but no one was able to give me that number. A disaster.

I was given a car that needed oil change in first hundred miles (I was taking it for over 1000) and I had to fill up air twice in tires. Still waiting for someone to get back to me for a possible refund weeks later

Terrible! Mike at Colorado Springs airport cancelled my reservation at the desk after I complained about having to pay additional coverage! I then had to go online and make another reservation. Went back to Mike and he then proceeded to tell me that it was rare to get same day reservations and that the only car available was an electric car. The car was a nightmare to charge and kept showing all sorts of malfunction alerts, I returned it early. Never again!

Rude agents at pick up. Couldn’t book earlier that 8AM, wouldn’t give car 30 minutes early for a 5 hour car rental. Very expensive for one day rental, but I was in a bind.

Pick up was quick and easy. Drop off was an issue. I took a photo of the mileage and fuel gauge to show but was just asked for the keys. I was billed for not fueling the truck. Ended up having to call customer service due to being incorrectly charged for not filling the truck

I love the fact that when you asked for an SUV you got what you asked for. Their employees were very pleasant enjoyed every one of them. I'm definitely going to Avis often.
