Overview Reviews
The art-deco charm of Hotel Britania as part of a project by Cassiano Branco, the illustrious Portuguese modernist architect. Situated in a peaceful road right alongside the cosmopolitan Avenida da Liberdade. The only hotel to remain intact until today, this hotel records the glamour of the 1940s. The rooms conserve ample dimensions as well as the cork floor.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is spectacular — we stood on our balcony and looked at the Escalator. The Rua Augusta walking street is 1 block away. Taxis and tuk-yuk s are at the end of the block. The room was Lovely — fancy bathroom, high ceilings, heavy drapes to block the light at night. Bed was very firm and excellent. Very happy!!!
Cons: It isn’t cheap, but we thought it’s worth the money.

Pros: Perfect location, nice room
Cons: The Santa Justa bar is not a cosy place
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel overall is very good to stay,it's in a very convenient location, you have some good food joints nearby . For indians you can enjoy some good indian food in the same street in hotel Swagath restaurant. Hotel Santa justa staffs are very cooperative, even they give free mini bar along with your bookings .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best place to stay in Lisbon
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were close by to everything and could easily get to all of the places we hoped to see. The recommendations by the staff for the independent tours we chose, were excellent. The staff happily stored our bags while we went to Porto for a few days, and the bags were waiting for us in our new room upon our return. The beds were comfortable and the showers were awesome. The room, even though it is over a busy street was completely quiet. Our stay couldn't have been better!
Cons: I would suggest that upon your arrival, you just get in line for a taxi. It is much easier and better than the convoluted system the hotel uses to take you from the airport to the hotel. Paying more doesn't always make it better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location. Could walk to all the sights. Very friendly staff and fantastic breakfast. Rooms were comfortable and roomy. Very happy with our stay

Pros: Everything. I loved the breakfast, the room, the personnel, the service in general (really 5 star) and most of all the swimming pool on the roof and the bar service there

9.0 Excellent
Pros: unfortunately I did not have breakfast at the hotel as I had to be at the meeting. The room was excellent, very comfortable. The staff was very helpful.

Cons: More beds in the pool areas.
7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent staff & service, great hotel amenities!
Cons: The airco/ventilation system was too noisy (even on the lowest fan setting). After a couple of hours of not getting any sleep, I finally turned it off completely, but the air in the room of course eventually become quite stuffy. Not sure if this noise level is normal or not, I've stayed at the hotel several times before I don't recall having this issue on previous occasions.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was amazing, lovely room and great facilities. Staff were so helpful. Pool is amazing and we used the spa too which was great, although treatments are on the pricey side! Breakfast was incredible, everything you can think of to choose from.
Cons: Not sure I can comment on the location, we were only there for one night and so not sure how easy it would be to get to the center of Lisbon.

7.9 Good
Pros: Location fantastic, I ask for big big, they give me 2 small attached together I hade to sleep o. One side lol
Cons: Small rooms fir the price.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Reasonably spacious. Coffee making facilities. It overlooked the streets on the first floor. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were extremely polite and helpful, everyone left suitcases when vacating their rooms in reception to pick up later. Ate at the sister restaurant about 100 metres away. My wife said her burger was excellent, my fish (their speciality!) was not so good. The breakfast was very good with a good choice of foods. Great position to stroll to the sea and to left or right to tour the castle and back streets. Buy a pass for the trams and underground and train to get around, staff will advise but explained at the underground as all in English. Tram 28 stop was only 100m away which is th one everyone says try! We walked the route and then did the tram. Can go by train (about 30 mins) down the coast to Cascais if you want sand and sea or Belem on the way. Can get on and off the train as you please. Also can walk along the front at Cascais and catch train further up the line. Thank you to the staff for our anniversary present!!
Cons: The only downside was needing to keep curtains closed for any privacy as overlooked and I like natural light, especially if went in the room during the day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great! Variety and freshness. They would make a sunny side up egg upon request.
Cons: More fresh fruit. Orange slices or sections. After all, the oranges in Portugal are delicious!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Central to many sights. Nice breakfast every morning.
Cons: Our room was on a corner of two streets and rather noisy.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is superb, close to metro and rail, and to many of the best sights Very friendly, rather old-fashioned and cosy Staff very helpful and pleasant
Cons: Room a bit lacking in space for luggage. Could do with more bedding options (eg sheet only, thin blanket)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Browns was a small boutique hotel in downtown Lisbon. It’s location made exploring easy and the staff at the desk and the bar were amazingly helpful and always happy. The room, although small (small room with street view) was perfect. All the little details and extras made up for the lack of size. Would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon.
Cons: If I had to find anything to dislike it would be trying to get in room the first time. There was a little trick to opening it with the key.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Has central AC!! All the staff are friendly. Breakfast buffet had a good variety. I was offered a welcome drink at the bar and a free bottle of wine in the room. The hotel is a 2min walk from the metro station. It’s walking distance to a lot of the tourist landmarks.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location was central
Cons: The staff seemed constantly upset at something, only helpful when you asked and it wasn’t well received. I mentioned I was pregnant MONTHS before arriving hoping for a higher room and when I arrived they gave us a room in the 1st floor, the street is pretty busy at night so needless to say sleeping was interesting. Wish I would’ve stayed somewhere else honestly...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Shower room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was gorgeous. The style of the place, the atmosphere, the staff, the drinks- everything was great. It’s relaxing and fun. The perfect holiday accommodation - jazzy and laid back, classy and calm. Go for the rooms with the street view.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were attentive to our needs as soon as we pulled up in front of the hotel. The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were well appointed. We enjoyed a coffee in the lobby lounge and cocktails at the roof-top bar. They had a great breakfast buffet in the morning. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and found a fantastic local restaurant called Sr. Lisboa which is well worth a visit for tappas-style dining.
Cons: Air conditioning in our room was not working well.
6.2 Good
Cons: When we (group of six people) book with paid in full and check in to hotel, we DID NOT know that we have to pay the taxes 2 euros per day and the person help to check in did not mention that either. After we signed our name on the card which we DID NOT see the taxes 2 euros per day on the card, but when we check out someone put that taxes 2 euros per day on the card afterward. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. IT IS THE MATTER OF PRINCIPLE. They can put any amount on the card after we signed. We REFUSED to pay the taxes. I hope that the hotel do not charge us.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Superb service, very attentive and helpful staff, great location on Avenida Liberdade, equivalent to Champs-Elysees, lovely roof top restaurant and bar with fantastic views of Lisbon all the way to the sea.

Pros: All was very good, near excellent !
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location. Perfect to have nice walk around city and I everything is available around hotel.
Cons: No complaints.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Clean and location
Cons: Staff is ok, but the so called lady executive mgr was not friendly and not try to solve problems. She did not try to make a six dollar error on a 3 nite stay. She said that mistake had to make by their executive DIRECTOR . That six dollar had to charge when we check out( they did not tell us when we checked in. And our was a PREPAID stay). The washing sink basin was made of kind of soft pastic( in a 4, 5 star hotel ??).
7.0 Good
Pros: Excellent location and very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was also very good with a lot of choice.
Cons: We stayed at the hotel for a week in August and the room was prefect. The second time we stayed at the hotel they put us in a room on the 7th floor. Big mistake!! It was very noisy because of the club/restaurant upstairs. We were awake till the early hours of the morning. I addressed the problem the following morning and the staff were extremely helpful and apologetic and moved us to another room without a hesitation.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The super comfy bed and the fact that they had a europcar rental office next door.
Cons: The staff were horrible. Check in took longer than needed. The staff interrupted us to finish their conversations with one another. Housekeeping came for turndown at 4:00?? Concierge was very standoffish.
7.0 Good
Pros: Everything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was amazing. Beautifully decorated hotel. Location.
Cons: Bathtub size (ridiculously small for a 5 star hotel; would have been happier with a large shower). Rooms could use some remodeling, a little underwhelming.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location and friendly staff. Must visit skybar and Seen restaurant both on the rooftop
Cons: Small bathroom

Pros: Beautiful hotel and grounds. Dinner was served in a beautiful room. Lunch outside in restaurant above the pool was excellent. The food was really good. The cocktails were great. The staff were very good. Wife had message and she really enjoyed it .
Cons: Bed was too firm for us. There was an issue with AC in the room it would not cool, they fixed it next day. Dinner was a bit of a let down. Looking for the food to taste better than average. It also took a very long time to get our dinner.

Pros: Marvelous historical palace well adapted to a luxury hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stylish, well-equipped hotel on the base of the old palace, in beautiful garden, with excellent breakfast, a nice spa and outdoor swimming pool. Very nice staff!!
7.1 Good
Pros: There is nothing about this hotel, that isn’t excellent. Expensive yes, but excellent.
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: A totally stunning hotel let down by bad management and staff. Dinner service was appallingly bad. I think it took one and a half hours to get the first course on the table in a not busy restaurant on Saturday evening 24/9/19. The food is mediocre so I'd give the restaurant a miss anyway. Generally haphazard staff throughout with poor house-keeping ( the fridge was not replenished/no coffee cups replaced; no bottled water; just haphazard and careless. There is no proper service in the beautiful lounges; instead, you have to go to the bar to get a drink or any other service. Very poor indeed. Generally a badly managed hotel and not the first time I have experienced this here. I'll give it a miss in future!
Cons: Very poorly run. Looks like a hotel being run under-staffed presumably to save money and generally badly managed throughout. What a disaster for Lisbon's flagship hotel! It deserves better.

6.3 Good
Pros: Had beautiful pics of the rooftop online. But in person it wasn’t that great
Cons: Rooms were very noisy. Doors we heavy so expect to hear a lot of slamming doors 8 am from the staff. Also my room was number 23 right by the service door. And tiny room. It barely fit my suitcases
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, fascinating hotel with breathtaking views and a staff that feels like family. The neighborhood is authentic and equally as friendly and the staff offers a daily walking tour of the immediate neighborhood for free!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location, the breakfast and the view from our room
Cons: The noise from the bar below. Fine when we shut the window, but a shame to have to do that.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The fabulous bar and view. Quite special
Cons: Not enough wardrobe space
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and view from the room and from the roof was incredible.
6.3 Good
Pros: The terrace is lovely.
Cons: Maid service was awful. No maid service at all October 9.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the desk were very friendly but not always able to resolve my request. The best part of the hotel BY FAR was the view from the multiple very cool and comfortable decks!! Fantastic!
Cons: The front desk staff could not help with a couple of requests that I did not think were that difficult: mild food for my husband when he had food poisoning (after 45 minutes of trying to find a restaurant that would deliver white rice, I asked if there was a market nearby where I could buy what we needed and was surprised to find out there was one across the street!). And a request for a nearby restaurant with a great view for our last night. We got a restaurant that was quite a walk that barely had any view, and they had no record of any reservation for us. Also, the bar/food staff were ridiculously slow to bring food or to replenish supplies at breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a great location in central Alfama, and has great views from the terrace. The hotel is modern and boutique in style. The Breakfast is very good, and the terrace is open late for drinks and tapas. The staff are very attentive and helpful, and can make recommendations on restaurants and the local area.
Cons: Sadly our flights were all delayed on the way out to Lisbon, and we did not arrive till 1:30am in the morning, and I'm sure because of this was given not the best room in the category we had paid for. The toilet would not flush, there was little to no storage for our clothes and belongings and there was no view or natural daylight. However we brought this to their attention the next day and we given a different room, which was much better.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and very helpful. The location was fantastic with plenty of attractions and great restaurants within walking distance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast fab terrace fab room too small

Eurostars Museum 5 * stands on the banks of the River Tagus as a faithful witness of the passage of centuries in the city of Lisbon. Its walls, completely restored, remain the same ones that lived the Islamic invasions, odyssey of the trips to the New World and that sheltered to families related to the court. Its rooms still have vestiges and the elegance of past times, but they have been able to incorporate the best services so that you can enjoy a quiet and comfortable stay in Lisbon. The Eurostars Museum 5 * invites you to visit the archaeological exhibition that it houses in its interior, in order to value this important cultural and historical heritage of the Portuguese capital.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for five nights and very much enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is new and the interior is outfitted with very high quality material, design and brands. There's a small interesting museum exhibiting some vestiges of Roman settlement. The location is ideally situated within walking distance for all tourist sites in the city. There are plenty of local restaurants around. The breakfast is amazing. There are so many choices so that everyone will find something to his/her taste. They have very high quality (and expensive) Dilmah tea. During our stay, I fell sick and they were very helpful in arranging for a doctor to come to the hotel and doing the translation as the doctor doesn't speak English. They offered free soup and snacks (in short anything I needed). Finally, we were positively surprised by a knock on the door on the day of my wife's birthday. They brought us a slice of delicious chocolate cake, a bottle of champagne and two bottles of water for the celebration. We can only recommend this exceptional hotel to all travellers.
Cons: Have not encountered anything that we disliked.

Pros: Great Location Loved the interior Very modern and lovely room, great stuff. It included parking. We really loved lunch and dinner there.
Cons: The room was not very clean, including the bathroom. There were not enough power outlets in the room, we traveled 3 guests. So if you go there, do not forget to get a power adapter

Pros: We stayed for four nights and we liked the location in proximity of major points of interest in Lisbon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed and excellent WiFi connection as well as the air conditioning.
Cons: More storage place (drawers) would be desirable for a longer stay.

Pros: A fantastic central city location, on a fantastic tree lines boulevard, contemporary style hotel, clean and fresh. Can’t fault it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is exactly in the right position if you want a top hotel in a top location in a top city tourist area. Our greeting was exceptional and we sat for about an hour as we had questions about Lisbon, what to see and to do and our host gave us all the time in the world. The concierge was the same with our bags taken to the room and showed us all the controls to our suite etc. They really are interested in their guests. As were the dining room staff as we had dinner that night there. It was excellent quality as was the bar staff and service. It is more than a hotel, nothing was too much trouble and they kept our bags after we checked out until we came back for our transport to the airport. We will be back!

Pros: Hotel has quirky design but it works really well. Located on the historic tram route which they should advertise Rare to see the restaurant and bar so well used in a City Hotel so it must be good. Staff really friendly and helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: friendly staff very helpful, very clean excellent location.
Cons: All excellent
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at the WC Hotel the night before our return flight to Toronto. The location is great - within walking distance to many restaurants and attactions and an easy drive to the airport. Very clean. Very comfortable beds and lovely linen. Loved the uniqueness of the design.
Cons: It is the first hotel I've ever been in that didn't have a TV. No big deal. No room to put it anywhere.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were really friendly and helpful. The bed was dangerously comfy, I could not get out of bed!! ☺️ Upgraded our room when we arrived. Liked the decor. Amazing shower. Complimentary mini bar in room.
Cons: Location a slight walk into Lisbon. Noise from the street- trams and emergency vehicles.
7.1 Good
Pros: Quirky and comfortable also very clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to a deluxe suite- Very nice
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, it took me just 15 minutes to get in to the heart of the Baixa area with shops and restaurants, which lead on to all the best tourist spots. The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, bright and always smelt lovely as you walked in. Cleaned every day and staff were pleasant and helpful. I used the restaurant the night I arrived, which had nice food, good wine and a pleasant ambience. There was plenty of hanging space for clothes and importantly, a safety deposit box to store passports, money etc, free of charge. There is a metro station 2 minutes from the hotel which was useful when leaving to move on.
Cons: The room was a little odd, having the shower and toilet directly on to the room. Being on my own it didn't really matter but if there were two of you, using the toilet might have been a bit weird! A few too many mirrors for my liking too
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Everything was ok just the internet conection wasn't working. We stayed 4 nights in the hotel and i couldn't connect not even one night...

6.7 Good
Pros: The value and pool
Cons: Small room clean up slow
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful. The rooftop bar with jacuzzi was well used by our large group of 17. Breakfast was great, the amenities very good, pool area very nice and the shower in our junior suite was fantastic!! Our bed was huge and very comfortable. Lovely quality robes in the room and very clean.
Cons: There was nothing I didn’t like.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent and friendly staff. Nice sized indoor pool. Healthy but doable walk to scenic areas and metro.
Cons: Has the "modern" room set up with a glass door bathroom, so the other person is disturbed by the light shining through. Beware that you will be charged 2.5 euros for each coffee pod beyond the two offered! Gym is small but workable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was faultless and catered for all needs, even offered a glass of bubbly! The swimming pool/ spa area was stunning and temperature of the pool perfect. Bath robe, slippers and towels supplied in locker room. The staff at the reception desk were helpful and great looking after our bags before the room was ready.
Cons: Our bags with our passports were put into our room and the desk staff locked us out of our room to make us get the passports to them. However we could not do this as they had locked us out of our rooms! If it was so urgent for them to have these documents they should have asked for them before they take in the bags next time. They did however send someone up to the room to get the passports from us and then return them to solve the problem which was perfect. Also hot tub on roof but in bar area so a little intimidating to use.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, accommodating staff and the restaurant had exceptional food.
Cons: The bathroom was not well designed and the room itself is quite stark - more an atmosphere for a generic business stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location on Liberty Avenue, great facilities
10.0 Excellent

The place is never too busy and the staff is always pleasant, available and willing to help make your stay a memorable one. This was my second trip to Lisbon and also my second stay at Porto Bay Liberdade. I sure hope to visit that wonderful place again next year.
Cons: I arrived at the hotel at 7 AM and waited until 2 PM to get access to my room. The hotel does not offer early check in; a minor inconvenience.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredibly thoughtful and the spa facilities were wonderful. Would definitely stay here again!
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful palace built by a 19th Century cocoa importer made a Count by the King. Magnificent building, professional and friendly staff, excellent breakfast included, comfortable rooms and good (not great) fitness center, spa and pool.
Cons: Not as many drawers for clothes as would be ideal; no facecloths in bathroom (only towels), location is 1+ mile away from the main activities so cabs are required.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, helpfull of the staff, facility, bar
Cons: Taxi services could be improved (it saves 27 EUR for hotels shutle to replace lack of service)

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was clean and comfortable with reception staff who were courteous and very helpful especially with local information that guests often find necessary. The location was good with a metro station (Campo Pequeno) 3 minutes walk from the hotel. A train / metro station (Entre Campos) was a 12 minute walk from the hotel. The breakfast was superb with a wide selection of food to suit all tastes. There is an evening buffet which was reasonably priced and very good. A la carte menu is also available. There is no need to leave the hotel to eat elsewhere unless some special restaurant decor is required or a guest is just adventurous. Congratulations to the management and to the catering staff for an excellent product. I would definitely repeat my stay at this hotel when in Lisbon.
Cons: There was nothing about which I would complain.

Pros: The Bedroom was quite comfortable and spacious, we stayed in the Deluxe Suite. The view and the Breakfast Service at the Executive Lounge were great.
Cons: Food at the Erva Restaurant and Room Service. 9.4 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very very friendly.
Cons: If the hotel would have been a little closer to the centre of town to make it possible to walk to places it would have been absolutely perfect. Although the taxis are quite cheap, the metro was on the corner and the distances in Lisbon don’t seem long anyway.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is on the top of the hill and in the business district which made it feels less touristy. It is still just a few minutes walk from the Marques de Pompal and the main walking street Avenida de Liberdade. I really like the new rooms and indeed the rooftop restaurant which has an amazing view of the sunset.
Cons: I did not like the small swimming pool and the poor little fitness centre. I have expected the Gym and Pool to be much better than other Portuguese managed hotels but this wasn't the case.

3.7 Mediocre
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. Served in comfortable surrounds with a very good range of food and good service.
Cons: The room we were allotted was a little small but relatively comfortable. In this regard we are completely ignoring the bathroom. The bath was blocked and we requested that this be un-blocked and cleaned 3 times. My wife then discovered dried blood spattered on the bathroom floor. As it was a marble floor the blood was difficult to see, but rubbing with a tissue soon exposed the problem. It was quite obvious that the floor had not been washed and cleaned thoroughly. After a bitter complaint to the service desk on our last night we were given another room. The Manager was not available to talk to us as it was the weekend!!
7.5 Good
Pros: It would be good if breakfast was included
Cons: Prefer no music around the roof lounge / pool area

Pros: Excellent location, 2 minutes from metro station. Very spacious room and bathroom (we got upgrade from standard one). There is everything you need in the room to have breakfast or just relax wit tea, coffee or wine. Lovely personnel, ready to help and advice. Extremely clean.
Cons: The windows are facing inner yard with lots of conditioning equipment and office building where people work from early morning, so opening windows and curtains isn't really an option. Sauna didn't work, and we were not told that it needs pre-heating ordered in advance.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to a junior suite. The beds were comfy, the room spotlessly clean and spacious. The roof terrace was excellent for post sightseeing relaxation. Close to the metro.
