Breakfast was the best meal of the day. Luisa is a fantastic omelette chef. The staff at El Coz is 5 star. All hardworking friendly people!
The beds are very hard, but that is the case everywhere I’ve been in Mexico.
5th year at El Coz
As always, the best things about El Cozumeleno are the location, being just feet away from the Caribbean. The snorkeling is excellent, the beach is protected from drifting sargassum by their sea wall, and the views from their rooms is breathtaking. The next best thing is their dedicated staff. These hardworking folks are cheerful and helpful, and go to any length to make one’s stay enjoyable. I will be returning.
The beds, like all in Mexico are too firm for my taste, although not as hard as others I’ve slept in on Cozumel. The food is hit or miss, and you don’t know from one day to the next whether it will be served buffet style or a la carte.
Laid back atmosphere. Friendly staff. Unpretentious nothing spectacular but good value for money
Cheap
I enjoyed interacting with the staff...found they were bound to strict rules and they tried their best to accommodate.
They used cheap alcohol...one of our group members watched a bartender setup his station and saw him water down the bottles. Drinks were bad tasting so I came to learn to enjoy their draught beer. The food was very boring and repetitive. No flair...nothing that stood out. Breakfast seemed like leftovers from dinner. They actually stopped serving food and alcohol after certain times...which is fine, I guess but I know other all inclusives have something open for their guests all day. I bought this night stay for my friend and his family from mexico. ..I was staying for a week with 9 of my family from Canada. I was surprised to see my friend was just as disappointed with this hotel on a one night visit - imagine, the rest of us were here for a week of this. This was a 20 year reunion with my friend lawyer from Mexico and it seemed to be wasted on discussions and arguments about the hotel instead of rejoicing. I give credit to Carlos...the front desk manager, for doing what he does. It's not his rules he has to follow. He didn't just have to hear things from us but also from multiple guests every time new arrivals came in. I cold see dispair in many eyes of the employees. Will I go back?
Friendly Staff, Unacceptable Rooms
The staff was extremely attentive and took good care of the guests. They were always polite.
My hotel room smelled so bad that I could barely stay in there. I only slept in the room. The moldy sofa and stinky and very hard bed made for tough nights. The furniture needs to be replaced. The quality of the food was poor and the food choices were repetitive. The first two nights I was there, there was little if any variety.
The pool, hot tub, and activities were great. It's a great place. I'd go back.
The ac was really loud in our room. We couldn't sleep well. Also the activities and tour guy that works at hotel hit on me. It was weird and made feel uncomfortable beign around them. The staff should be thought to be friendly but more respectful of guests.
Check-in/check-out was quick and efficient, very clean large room with a nice balcony, good a la carte restaurant for dinner (reservations required), crystal clear water, friendly crowd of guests, only 10 minutes from the airport and town, good selection of included liquor (although the high-end brands [Don Julio tequila, Johnnie Walker black and Crown Royal] were often kept out of sight below the...
No pool/beach waiter service, room should be updated - no refrigerator or bathtub, Internet access in the lobby only, draft beer only, included wine was poor quality, wine by the bottle was outrageously priced (US$55 for a bottle of Woodbridge chardonnay!).
The El Cozumeleno Beach Resort lives up to its name as it is situated directly on the white sands of Cozumel. Steps from the sea, it is a short distance from the main town of San Miguel. This makes the hotel an ideal choice for those eager to enjoy a relaxing, seaside getaway.
As a resort, this property has been designed to offer a family-friendly array of activities, amenities, and services. The property has five different swimming pools, several featuring a swim up bar and others designed just for kids. There is an arcade and game room, a fitness center, shopping on the premises, remarkable gardens, and options for hosting weddings or special events in the different facilities. The property has an open-air theater and has weekly entertainment, but there are also many sporting activities to enjoy.
Guests can visit the Cozumel Country Club for golf, book time in one of the nine boats for diving and snorkeling, do some parasailing, enjoy scuba, book fishing adventures, and more.
Naturally, dining is important and there are multiple eateries to enjoy. Elegance is easily found at La Veranda, while beachfront and casual dining is easily enjoyed at El Cocal Restaurant specializing in buffet breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. There are several snack bars, a bar in the lobby, and room service is always an option.
The rooms all feature ocean or garden views with private balconies or terraces. Each has an entertainment system, dining area, living room, large bath, mini-bar stocked with fresh water, soda and beer, and high-speed internet.
