Located in East Dorset, Aerie Inn of Vermont is in the mountains, within a 15-minute drive of Emerald Lake State Park and Gander Gallery. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The location is beautiful. Nice view of the mountains. The staff is very friendly.
Pros: Really friendly staff with excellent recommandations about where to eat or what to do. Amazing area and beautiful view of the mountains. Excellent location. The pumpkin homemade soap is just amazing. Very clean and cozy. We loved it !
Cons: Maybe the breakfast, a little too basic and not enough space. It would be great to have something in the same spirit as the homemade soaps : maybe an homemade pie, some fresh juice, something like that. To make it as perfect as anything else.
Pros: Room was clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Great custom soaps. The berry jams at breakfast were wonderful.
Cons: Couldn't get MSNBC on the satellite TV. Mostly quite, but some noise from the nearby Route 7.
Pros: Love how the property wAs tucked away in its own little private space. I felt one with nature and was able to recharge my self. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. Really was the perfect stay.
Cons: Loved everything
Pros: Sparkling clean and super nice inn keepers! And dog friendly!
Pros: Liked it so much that we booked it for lodging guests for my daughter’s wedding next October
Pros: The setting of the location is superb with the mountains and meadows all in view. huge property to play w/your pet, quiet, and the rooms are spacious & staff is one of the friendliest and accommodating i've experienced in a long time.
Pros: Beautiful views, great outdoor area! Amazing for kids and pets to run around and have a good time!
Pros: I had read glowing reviews and feel that the Inn was even better than I anticipated. Beautiful location and surroundings. It seems much thought went in to what a traveler needs...even a little placard with simple instruction on how to work what would have been a very confusing remote control (television).
Cons: That my wife was unable to make the trip....She would have loved it!
Located in Dorset, The Dorset Inn is a 1-minute drive from Dorset Playhouse and 9 minutes from Southern Vermont Arts Center. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The breakfast was excellent and the room comfortable. I had dinner twice at the restaurant. The first time was allowed to sit at the bar and eat there (I was travelling alone). The second time this was not allowed unfortunately
Cons: The hotel still changes all used towels every day. U think in today's world that should not happen any longer. I had to give separate instructions.
Pros: The Dorset Inn is full of charm and coziness. Everyone who works there is cheerful and more than helpful. The food is superb. The weekend was a surprise birthday trip for my husband. My children called to arrange some special surprises for their Dad's birthday while we were there and Christine and staff not only accommodated their requests, but knocked it out of the park! My husband was beyond thrilled. The shopping in nearby Manchester makes for a fun outing, as does a visit to the nearby marble quarry where you can go swimming on a hot day.
Cons: Quite honestly, we were very pleased with everything about our stay.
Pros: EVERYTHING, IT WAS LIKE A STEP BACK IN TIME! SO PEACEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL.
Pros: Breakfast was fine and was served in a timely manner. Waitress was pleasant and appropriate. Dinner in the formal dining room was superb in every way. Would do that again when we return. (Friday 6pm reservation) Enjoyed the house Chardonnay. Scallops and Filet were perfectly prepared and served hot. Sides were also perfect.
Cons: Minor- We both felt that the alternate bed pillows that were stored in the closet were a bit too hard. This is a personal preference. It was at least nice to have a choice but the difference between the ones set up on the bed and the alternates was minimal. If this is an issue for you, you may want to bring your own. Next time we will exercise this option which we have done in the past at other places we have stayed.
Pros: Beautiful historic building with modern amenities. Well located, a short walk from the Dorset playhouse. Excellent restaurant. Very helpful staff.
Cons: We had a lot of luggage and the stairs were a challenge. Would not be a problem for those who travel light.
Pros: Genuine historic Inn feeling. First rate breakfast and dinners. Helpful staff.
Cons: Rooms a bit small, as befits their era.
Pros: Staff, room, facility and historic story made this trip very special
Cons: I can't think of one thing! It was a great experience
Pros: The staff was SUPER accommodating and polite. The room was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable. The tavern where we had dinner was very good and the breakfast was phenomenal.
Pros: We have stayed at the Dorset Inn a few times in the past. Always enjoyed staying there. This was probably our best experience. Room was clean and comfortable. Dinner in the dining room was excellent. Breakfast both mornings was a treat. Would definitely stay there again.
Cons: No complaints. Nothing to change.
Pros: Love the Inn but guest rooms were on the small size
Barrows House and its cluster of eight buildings are centered on six acres of lovely gardens, expansive lawns and venerable trees. Lodging options include luxury suites with whirlpool baths and fireplaces, cottages with multiple guest rooms, free-standing homes with living rooms and outdoor seating areas ideal for extended family & friends. In the summer enjoy our pool and tennis courts. In the winter, warm by the outdoor fire pit. Whatever the season.theres always a reason to stay at Barrows House.
Pros: Cleanliness and decide of rooms
Cons: Nothing really
Pros: Beautiful Inn. Nicely decorated and extremely cozy. Restaurant on premise was incredibly delicious as was the breakfast which was included at their sister property steps away. .absolutely would go again.
Pros: Comfortable room. Pleasant staff. Location
Cons: Parking was difficult when the restaurant is open. Breakfast being off site was inconvenient. Although , it was delicious. Overpriced.
Pros: The restaurant and bar were fabulous. Great food, friendly staff, and a superb cocktail menu created and served by a fun bartender.
Pros: Breakfast is excellent
Cons: The window A/C is a bit loud. We would have enjoyed a cookie when we checked in.
Pros: Staff were exceptional. (Extremely accommodating and took care of any needs immediately). Buildings and lot were well maintained and clean
Pros: The old style New England Inn . Having a full service bar was a +
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly an helpful
Pros: We like the location and the breakfast. It part of our enjoyment of the Dorset Theater Festival.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. Extremely comfortable bed in an unusually large, spotlessly clean room with a wonderful view. Both are exactly like the picture on their website! I'd be very happy to return.
Cons: Noisy footsteps from the child in the room above. Is this the only motel in the U.S. without coffee maker/kettle in the room?
Pros: The staff was awesome. Their suggestion truly contributed to my great foliage trip in VT. The room was really nice and I will definitely recommend this inn to anyone!
Pros: Liked the small cottages
Pros: The staff did not contribute to find any positive aspect for this place
Cons: Very aggressive, rude and impolite staff, not respectful of guests
