Cons: Maybe showers could be better
9.6 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Near perfect hostel.
Cons: 1. Bunk bed ladders brackets are bending and need to be replaced with stronger metal - could be dangerous eventually 2. Bedside lights are too bright. Lights up the whole room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super nice and friendly stuff, they helped us a lot in a time of crisis.. We highly recommended.. Great place to stay in and wonderful people:)
Cons: ...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room had great views of the mountains and town. The bed was very comfortable. There was cable in English which was great on our rest days when we were not hiking. The restaurant was open 24 hours and the food was great. We were there for New Years eve and we had a big party in the lobby/restaurant. It was a blast. I would highly recommend staying at Rancho Grande.
Cons: People staying in the hostel were constantly slamming doors and very loud. Our shower kept getting plugged up However, this issue was quickly fixed by maintenance personnel.

Pros: This place is amazing! The place is very well run with a lot of amenities. The staff is very friendly and answer any questions you may have. This place is a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth it.
Cons: nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent personnel at reception. One of the best I have seen. Rooms very nice and clean. Excellent beds.
Cons: Hot tub was not warm enough and we requested sandwiches for take out and they were good but extremely small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel is great. The staff is wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were 4 couples who stayed 4 nights in February here at the start of our walking holiday. The hotel is lovely, it has a very authentic Patagonian feel to it, it was very clean, very tastefully decorated, and the rooms were more than d’équateur in size. Be aware that prices for everything here is higher than other parts of Patagonia like El Calafate. It is very conveniently situated for all the local walks to Laguna des los Tres and Laguna Las Torres etc. The restaurant was very good and it had a lovely bar area to relax in after the walks. Any. criticisms are very small: they didn’t change the menu in the restaurant over the 4 nights and there was a minute amount of wardrobe space. But these were massively outweighed by the standard of the hotel in an area of predominate hostel accommodation. So it was a lovely bit of paradise to return to after a long day walking. And the staff couldn’t be more helpful with trip advice, shuttles etc.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A very nice hotel located two blocks from the trailhead for some marvelous hikes. Room was well furnished, clean and spacious. The Destino has a nice bar/sitting room and a nice restaurant. Food was very good and reasonably priced. We’re seniors so having a comfortable room with a good shower really counts after four or fiv hours hiking. Destino was the place.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Guiana and Lucie we great at reception. First room #102 was near elevator shaft so WiFi wasn’t the best. We got moved to charming room 302 with great WiFi but exposed and so a strong wind is noisy - we thought it fun but be forewarned. Breakfast was very good, lots of fruit and avocado, one of the best we’ve seen. Close to restaurants. Trekking poles avail to borrow. (only 1 set left when we were there but nice nonetheless). Great stay with friendly staff.
Cons: Dry sauna wasn’t working.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Great hotel with great staff.

7.5 Good
Pros: Clean, bright, modern. Excellent staff, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast supplied, water and coffee available all day. Good place next door for craft beers and amazing burgers.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is well located at the villa, near the beginning of two of the main trails for hiking. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good, better than average in Patagonia. There is coffee, tea and flavored water for free at the reception all time. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, helpful staff, especially Fátima, she helped us arrange a transfer to go hiking, as well as lend us some hiking poles.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The location and the staff was helpful. It was a pleasant surprise to find such an establishment in el chalten
Cons: Wifi was unstable
7.0 Good
Pros: Location was ideal and hotel was very clean.
Cons: Breakfast was really basic, no water or coffee making facilities in the room and for what we paid per night you would expect this as a minimum requirement.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, great bar and restaurant, helpful staff spoke great English. Convenient for the glacier boat tour and to start the W trek. They let me leave a car parked there for 5 days while on the trek for free.
Cons: The only problem is that it is difficult to get here from the other side of the park. I think this is by design, to keep it peaceful for the exclusive hotel guests. However I had to pay $140 USD to get a ride from the other end of the W Trek to retrieve the car. Another option might be to try your luck hitch-hiking. This is why most people start the W Trek with the ferry to Paine Grande instead of Glacier Grey. The tour service at the hotel can arrange this shuttle for you, but there is no convenient way to access this end of the park without a car (shuttle buses etc do not go up this road).
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Maria Belen who works the front desk was very helpful and friendly. My sister and I visited several hotels in South America over a period of three weeks and thought Maria provided the best advice and was the most welcoming out of all of the hotel staff we met on our trip.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: decor and photos in main rooms are great good value laundry.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff who speaks good English and provides valuable hints; good music played in the common area; very quiet during nighttime; breathtaking view of Fitz Roy especially in the early morning light!
Cons: WiFi is quickly overcharged if a few people are online, some more routers would be required to enhance the guest experience. Moreover, blocking video streaming platforms would help as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay! We stayed for 6 nights and had a great time. The double room was very comfy and cosy with a nice bed and a great warm shower. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The kitchen was excellent to use and very, very clean. Great location off the main street - close to everything in a quiet spot and very close to the bus terminal. Highly recommended.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, super clean. Good breakfast Helpful staff
Cons: Poor WiFi connection.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean
Cons: Very thin walls Unreliable wifi
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff and facilities. Located near enough to the bus station and far enough from the centre of town.
Cons: The door in the room was hanging off. Little annoying when trying the close the door especially in the middle of the night.
7.0 Good
Pros: Spacious and clean, with friendly staff who were able to help with advice on the trails etc. Plenty of room to sit in the common areas.
Cons: Wifi was terrible - didn't work in the bedroom, which I could live with if it worked in the common areas but 95% of the time it didn't. I ended up repeatedly going to the cafe at the end of the road to use the wifi there.

Kalenshen - El Chaltén - Building

7.7 Good (552 reviews)
C$ 66+
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was probably the best in our entire trip (pretty diverse with different types of sweets, cheese and ham), the swimming pool was warm and perfect after a day of trekking and the room was big and comfortable. Very close to restaurants and the FitzRoy trek.
Cons: A bit expensive but it seems that expensive is the usual in El Chalten.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location and the decoration of the lobby.
Cons: Rooms were too noisy. Every room door made a loud sound each time a guest entered or left the room. This made resting very uncomfortable as guests were arriving until late at night and leaving very early for the activities.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Indoor pool was nice on a cold and windy day
Cons: This was our most expensive stay thus far in 7 weeks in Chile and Argentina and have to say our most disappointing accommodation given price paid and expectations. Customer service was lacking and the breakfast included was not worth it. Breakfast room was messy with dirty dishes, lack of clean plates and cutlery and had to ask for food replenishment more than once. Seems they cater primarily four tour groups. Better choices in El Chalten.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fine, pretty standard stuff - cereal, toast, ham and cheese, sweet pastry, coffee, tea, etc. but nothing cooked or hot. The pool was great to jump into after a hike! The room was fine, but definitely a little loud on the ground floor with folks walking above. The bunk bed is in the same room as the kitchen, so it was a little bright for the kids to sleep and meant no one was staying up for an extra glass of wine (which was fine, we hiked hard!) Very close to two main trailheads, and lots of shops/restaurants, so very well located!!
Cons: The wifi was terrible. This isn't an issue if you're just coming to hike and hang out, but if you have any thing that you need from the internet, the wifi here really didn't work. Also, while the beds were comfortable, the pillows weren't great. And the kitchen is pretty minimally equipped. We cooked enough food for one dinner and leftovers for hiking, but had to cook in batches to make everything since the pan & pot were pretty small.
7.0 Good
Pros: It has a sauna!
Cons: Breakfast was not great. The staff in the dining were not paying attention on whether there was enough food
5.4 Okay
Pros: This place is located close to the trails going to Laguna des los tres and Cerro Torre.
Cons: The room had a boiler with gas which was running all the time. You can actually see the flame. I think it was an old model. Because of this we left the window open in the living area since kids beds were there. This boiler was also noisy. The toilet leaked and the water was running all the time making noise at night. While they advertise WiFi you’re lucky if it works. In 4 nights we stayed there it was barely working. Nobody is at the reception after 10pm in case WiFi is down. Breakfast was cheap. Anyway, not the best experience.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was in a good location and clean. We had free breakfast and a nice view of the mountains.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice clean and updated place. Great Beds and great breakfast. Very good Location and lots of places around.
Cons: WIFI is horrible. It is insane that I paid $172 dollars for a place with this kind of Wifi. I work remotely and had to leave as it was incredible that the wifi was less than 1mbps when you are charging almost $200 a night.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and large room with nice bathroom( especially shower). Breakfast was quite nice with yogurt parfaits plus other typical but higher end pastries.
Cons: Coffee was only so so.
6.7 Good
Pros: - Centrally located in El Chalten - Room was clean and well heated
Cons: - room had an odd layout, limiting space (def. not 32 sqm) and only had a tiny window that did not let in much light. - There was no hot water at times - Breakfast (esp. the coffee) was mediocre & restaurant staff was unprofessional (nose picking in the middle of the breakfast room)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay at this hotel! The room was very comfortable, the place was sparkling clean and beautifully decorated, the location was great, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Great value for the cost, and definitely recomme nd.
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean room, good size, comfy bed
Cons: I asked for a cup of tea one day after hiking as I had a heavy cold to come to checkout and realise I had been charged for it. Just a cup of tea but still when you are paying £150 a night you would think you could have a tea included in your stay surely!? Even a hostel would offer a free tea... Hot water ran out in the shower. Last thing I expected or wanted after a long day out hiking (also for paying £150 a night...disappointing) Other people raved about the breakfast, it was good but very much an average breakfast for Argentina. Options for eggs and then other normal things like toast, 1 type of cereal. Don’t get too excited. Overall good stay but those things bugged me!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Most of the places in El Chalten are hostels, and this was something mixed between a hostel/hotel feel. The rooms are very cute and comfortable with the bathroom floors even being heated, the beds are very comfortable and have plenty of blankets and pillows to keep you comfy. Breakfast is nice and hearty. There's free parking out by the street as well. When comparing to other stays in El Chalten, this one is quieter - there's not a lively dinner/bar scene that I think some of them have so keep in mind if that is something you are looking for. However, it is walking distance from the main street and trailheads so very easy to get around! G
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean quiet rooms. Good breakfast.
7.0 Good
Pros: Loved the bed, breakfast very nice, good mountain views, free candy on the room
Cons: Really bad wi-fi. Wanted to take a bath but hot water finished before I had hardly started filling it up, so had to take a cold shower instead.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic team, supportive throughout. Spacious room and breakfast with best bacon&egg for a long time
Cons: Do not remember anything in particular. No A/C, but not necessary in Southern Patagonia anyway
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms and space, good breakfast, central, great staff, nice attention to detail
Cons: na
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a clean place, neatly situated with access to the very small town. Nice breakfast before the long hikes. Cute decoration inside and a cosy fireplace. Sol at the frontdesk was especially helpful with her hiking tips!!
Cons: It would have been helpful if there was a small fridge in the room so we could cool our hiking food the night before the trek so it would last.

Pros: Great place to stay in El Chalten! Rooms are super clean and very comfortable, nice view out of the window. Great shower as well, which is appreciated after the long hike. Location was perfect, so close to everything, even trailheads. We travelled with our cat and she enjoyed the room as well. Don't skip on owner's little shop, alfajores are to die for!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, right in the center of town. We were given great recommendations about restaurants and hikes in the area. The staff was attentive and helpful.
Cons: The stove, toaster oven and oven did not work. When we plugged in the toaster oven, the electricity cut off and we had to flip the circuit breaker.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. The location is great but it's hard to have a bad location in El Chalten. Anita was super helpful with recommendations and advise about hikes and restaurants.
Cons: The wifi is pretty terrible in all of El Chalten. The price is high but so what expected for the season and location. The smell coming from the bathroom drain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very modern and clean flat with all the facilities we needed after a long day of hiking. Anita was a lovely host. She gave us advice on restaurants to try, hikes and also booked us a last minute transfer to El Pilar for the Laguna De Los Tres hike. She couldn't be more helpful.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and Very Helpful
7.0 Good
Pros: The flat was comfortable and equipped enough to be comfortable for several days, in exception of the water system.
Cons: The hot and cold water system needs definitely an upgrade. It was hard to get the temperature stable.

7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was very nice. Breakfasts were good and the lounge area was lovely and comfortable.
Cons: Our toilet seat was loose, and though we told the staff about it, we needed to balance carefully throughout our stay. At one point the set screw fell out of our doorknob and I was locked in. Fortunately I was able to find it and repair it with my jackknife. The staff did send someone to fix the door so it didn’t happen again. I never knew they sold beer and wine until our last day. ??what else was available that I didn’t know about?? They do provide a box lunch ($5.00), but a sandwich from the local bakery was much better and cheaper.

Pros: Perfect location facilities and wonderful staff
7.0 Good
Pros: Great staff, really helpful to help you plan your journey en El Chalten. Room is quite large.
Cons: Room could be more clean and the mattress was quite soft. One recommandation is to ask for a room upstairs. We were in the first room downstairs and were continuously awaken by people coming in/out, the door opening and closing and people talking in the living room etc. Also the toilets in the room could use a little plumbing as the water was running non stop ...
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff at this basic hosteria
Cons: The bathroom was not very clean
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: For El Chalten this hotel could be a compromise between price and quality because the prices in this town are really high. But hotel’s staff behaved so awful that I can’t recommend this place to stay in El Chalten. However there were some advantages: + Good lighting in the room and in the bathroom + Location is almost in the center of the town + Free rent of trekking poles + Nice hall on the first floor where you can relax after trekking day
Cons: - Room was very dirty: spiderwebs with died insects in all corners, on the lamps and even hung from the ceiling. Towels with stains, nails on the floor and hairs everywhere even on the toilet - Bathroom wasn’t comfortable: the shower was difficult regulated, once it turned off by itself, all sanitaryware was old and didn’t work well - Staff was false and hypocritical! We arrived in the evening and planned to start trekking early in the morning. We asked 3 times (!) in advance if the hotel can make a bag breakfast for us or we need to buy food by ourselves. Receptionist (or the owner?) promised to make a bag breakfast, he even showed where will leave it. But in the morning there were neither food nor receptionist. We had to stay at the hotel and wait for breakfast. Another receptionist appeared 10 minutes before breakfast and prepared it very slowly. He wasn’t surprised that we arrived so early and started to eat our food (remains which we had), he didn’t ask if we hurried and if he could help us. Instead he was killing a fly! Then we saw yesterday's receptionist which greeted us as if he didn’t remember about bag breakfast and our plans for the early trekking! We lost 2 morning hours without clouds in the mountains, we couldn’t make a half of our route and so we didn’t see Cerro Torre! - Breakfast starts at 7:00 as in the city-hotels, but almost all guests go to trekking in the early morning. So in the first 15 minutes of breakfast there was a lot of people and food was finished immediately - Heating was too fierce and unregulated, we had to sleep with the open window when it was only +5 degrees outside and then we froze in the night - Internet didn’t work, neither Wi-Fi nor mobile - No trekking map and adapter for sockets provided, you need to bring everything with you - No quick reply to emails, we had to wait about 2 days - The price was too high for such a dirty and inhospitable place
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was cleaned every day The room was spacious with a desk and wardrobe included Big comfy bed Common areas to hang out in We were allowed to leave our bags and stay in the common areas after we checked out Good location for the start of the walks (el chaltén is quite small)
Cons: The WiFi only worked in the common areas but I think poor WiFi connection is due to El Chaltén being remote rather than the fault of the Guesthouse One man who was working at breakfast times didn't offer us eggs (something that the other man did) Selection at breakfast was limited (eg no fruit)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good value, rooms comfy, plenty of room . Staff nice
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff is very nice. One guy didn’t speak a word of English tho. The location is good. Located on the Main Street. Lots of Resturant around.
Cons: The bed linen are super Old. The shower wasn’t working in the morning. They staff wouldn’t let people have breakfast even a minute before 7. Which I don’t understand. The breakfast are ready and sitting on the tables. It’s expensive for this quality of a hostel.
7.9 Good
Pros: Warm rooms which was great during stormy weather; scrambled eggs with breakfast; very nice staff; great water pressure in showers!; staff let us leave our bags while we hiked one day; easy access to Fitz Roy trails (5 min walk)
Cons: Very basic rooms felt expensive for what we got
5.8 Okay
Pros: Stuff was OK and offered advice and walking sticks. Location is convenient in the middle of main street.
Cons: Noisy because rooms don't seem to be well isolated. The room needs upgrades and looks "worn out". We stayed for ,1 night.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good. The room was comfortable with a comfy bed. The staff was excellent. Very friendly, full of advice and suggestions and very professional. Like being with friends.
Cons: Our room sadly faced a brick wall. In a place with such fabulous landscape, this was sad. The water pressure was very strange, with most times just a trickle coming out of the bathroom faucet. The shower was better. And one could hear every door opening and closing in the early morning.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Flexible breakfast time (we had an early start to the morning and they made breakfast available to us earlier).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly people at the reception: they informed us continuously on the development regarding the Covid-19 pandemia and accepted that we decided to leave one day earlier. The national park had closed on March 15. Nice room and bathroom. Good laundry service. Breakfast was very good with everything we expected.
Cons: Room with a view to the backyard. The dinner was disappointing, there are good and very good restaurants in town.

Cons: Would have been great if interconnecting rooms were available for families
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The WI-FI connection is not so good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, good location, nice room
Cons: No wardrobe or drawers so no practical way to unpack. The clothes hanging space could be used better. And hardly any hooks in the bathroom.
