10.0 Excellent
Pros: This boutique hotel is run by the owner couple and it shows! Nothing is too much trouble and the pride and care they take of the hotel itself and their guests is beyond amazing! All the local "gen" was given so that made scouting around very easy and the recommendation for supper at a restaurant a block away was spot on. There is paid parking available right in front of the hotel - this is quite expensive if you are staying for long periods of time, but there is a no-pay parking within easy walking distance away. So once you have dropped your luggage and checked in (free parking from 12:00 noon till 14:00 and again from 18:30 till 9:00am the next day) then get directions from Laurent and park your car and continue to explore La Rochelle at your leisure. Cannot fault anything. The breakfast is superb with delicious freshly squeezed orange juice a must.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: We loved Loren and Sofie the owners. They were VERY friendly and helpful...they even squeezed fresh orange juice for us both mornings! The room was large, modern and very clean. The bath was lovely. The parking lot is directly in front of the hotel which is VERY helpful as parking is an issue in La Rochelle. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the harbor where all the action is. Can't understand why more Americans don't visit beautiful, romantic LaRochelle!!

Pros: The place is a lovely old house very well looked after. The host is very nice and polite helped us a lot with her advice. Noting that the guests are limited to their room and the small lounge and patio.
Cons: The breakfast was ok but not worth the 13€ pp. There was bread, croissant, fruit and jam plus coffee. I had read reviews on booking about breakfast being amazing but having tried it it did not prove to be value for money.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience of staying there was excellent. The breakfast was fantastic and most of all the best part of staying there was the way the lady of the house made us feel so welcome. It very much felt like you were getting a personal first class service.

Pros: Very nice hotel within easy walking distance to central part of town. Bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Room was very small - with two small roller bags, we had some difficulty placing them in the room. There was also no light on one side of the bed and no shelf in the shower for shampoo and soap which were provided. 9.2 Excellent
Pros: I liked the intimate atmosphere and the location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for money: clean modern rooms; just enough things to see you through (soap/shower gel/hairdryer); friendly staff and VERY comfortable beds. Breakfast was tasty and although it’s €10 it’s good value for money - quite a lot of choice (mostly bread/pastry based but still lots of other stuff too). On the Sunday there was a flea market in one of the nearby side streets leading up to the church which was great and very community-oriented; quite different to the more touristy stuff in the centre of town. Beach only a 5 minute walk away too!
Cons: No tea facilities in room (didn’t worry us but worth knowing for others); slight distance from town and not too many cafes/shops nearby. The one local shop was quite pricey. However it was a lovely quiet neighbourhood and we wouldn’t have spotted the flea market otherwise!

Cons: Couldn't have been better.

5.2 Okay
Pros: Shower & toilet facilities were very good & room was clean & presentable.
Cons: The third bed was only a sofa bed which was't adequate & the bed sheet was of poor quality & had a corner strap that was broken. The room could have been larger for 3 people sharing - I.e a seperate room/area for the double bed. Also the Free car parking was full so we had to park in the Public car park by the beach & pay. The map directions for the free parking wasn't large enough; making them difficult to find.

Cannot fault anything. The breakfast is superb with delicious freshly squeezed orange juice a must.
Cons: Nothing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved Loren and Sofie the owners. They were VERY friendly and helpful...they even squeezed fresh orange juice for us both mornings! The room was large, modern and very clean. The bath was lovely. The parking lot is directly in front of the hotel which is VERY helpful as parking is an issue in La Rochelle. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the harbor where all the action is. Can't understand why more Americans don't visit beautiful, romantic LaRochelle!!

6.0 Good
Pros: The location was nice with a nice view of the marina. It's a nice walk and from what I could tell from all the walking I did it is pretty safe too, as La Rochelle generally appears to be (beautiful and safe - great!). The breakfast is very generous in the choice you get and is fairly tasty. It was surprising to find the orange juice was proper orange juice, at least it tasted like so to me, and not the orange juice you get elsewhere - and I have stayed in plenty of hostels to know - that is definitely not real orange juice and seems to be water added to orange powder! This was a nice change from that. There is an optional meal you can get at the bar in the evening which does not seem too expensive. I did not go for it but I saw what others got on their table - a generous serving for the price and a great view of the marina from the balcony off the bar (see the picture below of the boat masts). People who might not want to venture all the way into town at night might appreciate it but it is worth going into town too for a meal. Their eco-efforts are good but not always practical as in one case I mention in the 'didn't like' section. The 4 bunk all female dorm room was spacious, fairly clean, and fairly comfortable (bar the toilet/sink situation, see below).
Cons: The staff were nice enough generally but I got hung up on when I rang to enquire about something ahead of my arrival. When I mentioned it later I just got a raised eyebrow and an 'oh well' attitude. Security wise, you use the same key card (as they use here) to get into the corridor from the stairwell of the building as you do to get into your room. I found this a bit dodgy. Who knows who else could be able to get into your dorm room from the other dorm rooms along the corridor. I doubt the cards are all as room-specific as the staff say they are. However, it's not necessarily the people from other rooms you have to worry about in a hostel situation, but rather the ones you are sharing with, as I suspected afterwards. Speaking of the shower, the only sink in the four bed dorm I was in was in the shower section of the dorm room, not in with the toilet which is in a separate cubicle to the back of it. I realise it is probably part of their eco efforts to have just one sink and not two - one in each place - but not having it in the same area as the toilet is unhygienic. What if you want to wash your hands after the toilet before going out but have to wait until the shower section, if it's being used by someone at the time, is free? There are some people who will not bother to wait or won't wash their hands at all - even if the shower section is free - because the sink (and preferably a bit of liquid soap as a suggestion) is not in front of them to do so. It appears to be a bad design decision, however eco-conscious, which probably can't be changed now. It's not really a fault of the hostel but the street lighting at the main entrance to the hostel could be better at night, however safe La Rochelle is. Maybe they could discuss it with the relevant people. I didn't get the huge 'sociable' vibe they seem to be proud of. The hostel is still worth staying in, mainly for price reasons as La Rochelle can be quite pricey.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Food excellent value for money Staff very friendly and helpful. Location further from the town than i realised Property difficult to find due to no signage to it from the path near the ports etc Espevially at night
Cons: Only one sign on the building itself therefore difficult to find Further from the town and nearest beach thn indicated I sharedmy room with two grumpy stressed students which didnt make for a very good atmosphere As the hstel rents out rooms to hotel students etc who cant afford or find other accommodation They of course were not in a holiday mood like the rest of us. Bus information was a bit vague. Do buses stop regularly near the hostel ? If so where? I would definitely stay there again.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location near marina and beach, however about 20 minute walk to old town. (The bus route is regular though).
Cons: No towels or soap in the room, which is disappointing, Breakfast till 10 but if after 9.30 there is not much left.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast included
Cons: Bathroom
6.7 Good
Cons: Got checked in to the wrong room - I had a 4-bed booking and was placed in a 6-bed room. I eventually made the change but staff was hesitant to accept the modification.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, with very helpful staff. Exceeded my expectation of a 2 star hotel.
Cons: A little difficult to drive to the front due to some confusing one way roads.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very well sited hotel, very clean, staff excellent. Basic but very comfortable, good bed. We had a courtyard facing room so no great view but since it was pouring with rain it didnt matter. No parking but they have a good deal with a local car park. Nice touches like umbrellas. Good restaurant recommendations from reception, spot on. We didnt have breakfast as delivered to rooms, preferred to go out. No lift which didnt bother us but avoid the top floor if you're not up to steep stairs. Really liked La Rochelle, an interesting and attractive town.

7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent location - in the middle of everything in the old port. Open parking nearby with convenient access to the area. Just at the entrance of old city.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Not much, given we were both unable to have any decent sleep for the 2 nights stay. Constant and very loud noise all night long which was not addressed by the staff on duty at the hotel, although they admitted there was a lot of noise overnight Very noisy area at all times of day and night even with the window tightly closed. One To be avoided at all costs.
Cons: Please see above re the loud Noise In addition, this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and priced as such. There is no Lobby area apart from one very small seating area in front of the small bar area which could probably occupy 6/8 people with a push. Restaurant food very poor, going by our own experience. Double rooms and being sold as such are very small. They are just about good enough for a Decent Single Room.
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff is very friendly and the breakfast was really good.
Cons: The beds are too soft. The carpet is a bit old and the interieur could get a refresher.
6.3 Good
Pros: The professional staff, the excellent breakfast, the free parking and the locatio
Cons: The no fantasy interior, the very uncosy bar, the not too clean room with a ‘port view’ through a small window
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. Pet friendly & good car park.
Cons: The rain
9.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff's smile ; the room service was very quick
