Pros: We liked everything about the property and James who was brilliant room was very big and comfortable great location
Cons: n/a
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts thought of every detail. If you wanted water, tea, coffee, beer, a snack, fruit, cookies or anything, they had it readily available. You could use the kitchen, the laundry facilities, a heater for your room and the iron. The place is in a great location and so very beautiful, clean and comfortable. We stayed at several B& B's on our two-week vacation and this was by far our favorite one!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Parkhead House is a real gem. It is a lovely old house situated down a country lane that makes you feel as though you are a world away from Edinburgh, even though you are quite close to both the city and the airport. The estate that the house sits on is both rural with sheep and deer, as well as bordering the Firth of Forth just to the west of the rail and road bridges. It is also very close to historic South Queensferry which has some great places to eat. If you want something different to a city hotel - but not far away from everything, then this is the perfect choice ... and on top of that, your host, who lives next door, is a great guy who is always available to help.
Cons: Remember that this is a small gorgeous farmhouse style residence with all the quirkiness that this brings, so don't expect designer style stone bathrooms and all the trappings of inner city hotels; instead expect the opposite, which is the very reason for going there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Veruit clean, quiet and charming location. The host was very helpfull. Excellent breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place conveniently located 20 min from the airport - we chose to stay here for our last night instead of having to go back to the city which was so much more relaxing after 2 weeks of driving around Scotland. James is such a nice host and we had everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay. We loved the deer park behind the house and how we could see them from our bathroom window. Breakfast was also ready for us early, which we really appreciated!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love this place ! The host was so nice, he went out of way to make our stay feel very welcomed and made breakfast early to meet our needs. The house is lovely and the grounds were lovely. Highly recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcoming and helpful hosts made our stay very enjoyable. Fantastic breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We travelled to attend a wedding anniversary, and chose Parkhead House largely because of the "Dog Friendly" description, It certainly was! All other aspects were excellent. A very enjoyable stay and we would certainly hope to return.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The proprietor was very professional with a level of service exceeding that of many high quality hotels we have stayed in. If you want a high quality B&B near Edinburough we could not recommend this more highly. Probably one of the best and most professional run B&B's we have stayed in in Europe
Cons: Absolutely nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts are great, location is quiet but close to many attractions. Perfect if you are an Outlander fan.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice welcome! Calm location and beautiful stylish old house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room , no breakfast but there were plenty of supplies to have a Continental one in our room. Lovely grounds, convenient to local pub and bus service to Edinburgh.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a little gem. We were attending a wedding at close by Dalhousie Castle and wanted somewhere to stay close by but also not too far from Edinburgh city centre. This property is fabulous. Everything you need and so much more. We stayed in the Dalhousie Suit. It was comfortable, clean, very spacious and just perfect for our 2 night stay. We were amazed by the array of snacks, drinks and breakfast options. Ruth is the perfect host. We would 100% recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I think it reaches out the excellence in every area. The best thing I liked about the place is the fact that it is super clean, amazing staff, safe and easily accessible. Takes less than 20 minutes from bus # 31 to reach the city centre. It is evident that why it is one of the highest rated hotels in Scotland ..
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host was so lovely, the room was beautiful and big, with an extremely comfortable bed. We had an en-suite bathroom with towels, bathrobes and slippers provided, as well as a fridge in the room. There was a huge supply of tea, coffee, water, cereal and biscuits available to help yourself to for breakfast, or as and when you wanted. The bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the property and about 30-40 min bus ride from the centre of Edinburgh. It’s a little way out the city centre, so it’s not the kind of place you can go back and forth from all day but this suited us as we were travelling into Edinburgh in the morning and then back in the evening. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay just outside the city. Would definitely stay again, I will dream about that bed and how comfortable it was. Thanks for a great stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet neighborhood, lovely old large house converted into a guest house. Breakfast and snacks amply provided.
Cons: Separate bathroom from bedroom. Some rooms have en-suite bathroom, but not ours. It was very close and wasn’t a problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful guesthouse, owner was lovely and has thought of everything. Box of an array of toiletries and outside the rooms a selection of drinks and snacks all free of charge. My photos don’t so it justice as the room was huge with loads of storage huge shower (You can get any temperature from freezing to boiling hot on it I loved it!). Branded body lotions and shower gels included. Loved everything.
Cons: Didn’t take card payments and I completely understand why but I had totally forgotten by the time I got there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely guest house, very friendly Host, comfortable room and bed. Excellent selection of breakfast cereals, drinks etc. Very convenient position for onward travel. We would stay again! Thank you.!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady that owns this B & B has thought of everything. Her attention to detail is amazing. We normally stay in a hotel here and couldn't get booked in. From now we will be booking into this B & B instead as the value for money has blown us away. Although no cooked breakfast, the arrey of cereal, fruits juice teas and coffees made up for this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting....thanks lady who runs it does a fantastic job with just the help of a cleaner and a Gardiner...no hot breakfast but more than enough to eat form the selection of cold items available...the room we were in was clean and homely...if I'm up there again I will definitely stay in this hidden gem of a hotel....

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We reached after 7 on a weekday evening and finding a parking was not a problem and was free .The room as well as the bathroom were spacious and clean . Beds were comfortable with clean fresh linen and we slept very well . Good powerful shower in the morning.Breakfast was superb. We had nice hot porridge with blueberries and then gluten free toast with a lovely omelette. Nothing was a problem for Moira the host . I strongly recommend this property.
Cons: A bed side table on the other side of the double bed will be useful. Stairs to the rooms could be a problem with someone with mobility issues .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room decor quirky in a good way. Huge comfortable bed. Good breakfast, charming staff and excellent service. Wow factor is the amazing view of the iconic forth rail bridge from our room window. Especially stunning in the evening when the bridge is lit up against the dark sky, and the scene enhanced by the twinkling lights of the various boats underneath. Lovely.
Cons: I would stay there again and again but for the fact that I have mobility/health issues which made the stairs difficult for me. That really is a great shame because I liked the room and view enormously. I take away a happy memory though. The bathroom was perfectly clean and comfortable, but looked a little sad and could do with an uplift.

5.4 Okay
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from our room was very good, although it did come at considerable extra cost.
Cons: Lack of parking facilities in the area, although there is very limited on-street (limited time) parking which, if you are lucky enough to find a free spot, is only suitable for check in! Being awakened at 7.45am by a team erecting a marquee in the hotel terrace was really not appreciated since there was no pretence at subtlety.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb views of the Firth of Forth bridges from all windows of our room. Best food of our 4 week vacation to date and staffed by a very well trained, young and most helpful team. Would recommend this hotel highly.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were most helpful, even accommodating an early check-in. Location is charming, with great views across the Firth of Forth, and makes for an easy drive to Edinburgh airport (even in early morning traffic).
Cons: No on-site parking; but here again, the staff went out of their way to assist.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed was so very comfortable
Cons: The noise in the dinng room that particular evening was just too much......large group of very noisy diners plus they had a very unsettled baby with them who cried ...a lot!!!! Spoiled our birthday celebration to be honest!

6.7 Good
Pros: The room was disappointing in size for the money we paid. Was expecting better. Very cramped with little space to move around. The view from the balcony was amazing when we finally managed to book in. The lack of private car parking is a big downside for this property.
Cons: No parking available.
7.1 Good
Pros: The room was excellent but I was unaware that there was a huge trip to get to my room. It wasn't onsite. This was fine for me but my mom has difficulty walking so it would have been nice to know.
Cons: The only issue was the travel distance between the main hotel and the room I was assigned. Otherwise, it was a beautiful facility and experience.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice room, good food and staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Room was a little small for the cost. Room looked into a brick wall and could only see the nice view if you put your head right up to the window.

Pros: Views from room
Cons: Nothing

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location on main road to Edinburgh. Beautiful setting, friendly staff, everything we needed, nice and clean.
Cons: Our only slight complaint would be the mattresses where not comfortable at all, particularly in my daughters single bed, even mattress toppers would have helped. Other than that it was a lovely place. Also some other guests were very noisy and woke us up when they came up to their rooms but that’s not the hotels fault.

Deep Sea World aquarium is only 15 minutes by car, and Bedlam Paintball Edinburgh is just 2.3 miles away.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location. Close to the airport.
Cons: As a matter of fact I was aware that I should stand for the noise of trains going through the bridge before dawn, I knew there was not going to be private parking, and that likely, the hotel would look somehow sort of tired, based on messages here from previous guests. But that was the price to pay for being so close to one of the attractions of the city, close to the airport, and staying at a place with 'atmosphere'. I did not know tough that there was not wifi at the hotel. Of course I could join the free city wifi as long as willing to provide every single piece of personal information and accepting being sent 'news' and 'offers', adding therefore an extra source of junk mail to my mail box. These would have been minor issues if nothing of what I am going to explain wouldn't have happened, at a risk to make this review too long. While I was checking in, my wife went to the toilette next to the pub bar where the check in has to be done. Apparently the door didn't close well enough so that she was so unlucky that was heavily knocked on her head by the iron lock of the door when another lady tried to get in abruptly. She came back with evident signs of pain, not bleeding but holding her head with her hands. I was baffled by the fact that the not so gentleman who was processing our check-in didn't offered any assistance to her or any interest whatsoever but instead he showed the upmost appalling indifference. Instead he insisted on rushing me to provide a cc for making the room payment upfront as I were in some obscure motel in Arizona. Of course that happened amidst a bunch of patrons drinking beers at the counter and just before I had to walk up our room negotiating a series of 'aggressive' fire doors with our heavy luggage and my wife in tears of pain. No help was provided at all! That would tell enough about the general attitude of the staff that we could confirm later.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed a night before a flight. Queensferry looks amazing, the property has a nice bar downstairs. It`s quiet, although right under the Forth Bridge(train tracks). Clean, comfy bed, really spacious and nice bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff, great beer downstairs. Private parking in the back and 15min drive to the airport.
Cons: I wish we could have spent more time here to visit Queensferry, it really looks gorgeous.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location excellent, great view of bridges and the Firth. Breakfast service poor, apart from first morning when Lee was on duty when she was warm and welcoming. No fried eggs available of first morning., but had a great bacon bun. other two mornings not even asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast. Room in need of a little redecoration, but clean and comfortable. Most of staff very friendly.
Cons: Breakfast. service, apart from Lee.
7.5 Good
Pros: We have stayed at the Hawes inn on numerous occasions over many years. We have always found the staff to be welcoming , helpful and very friendly , in particular we always look forward to meeting Lee at breakfast. The location is wonderful , historic and ideal for visiting other towns and cities. The local railway station is within walking distance and useful if you fancy a day in Edinburgh.
Cons: Over the years we have found that the bathrooms are looking a little tired and are in need of refurbishment. The window frames in the rooms are in need of a good wipe.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The lovely big room. Shower gel without individual bottles (from an eco point). The trains DID stop at the end of the night! The chance to sit and read with a view out the window. Tasty breakfast ...dairy free milk available (not soya) would have enhanced my choices on the buffet, though.
Cons: The mattress was not comfortable...something a mattress topper could have easily sorted out. Wasn't quite warm enough through the night... No throw in the wardrobe to add that little bit extra warmth.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the breakfast was lovely. the location is beautiful.
Cons: I would have liked to have had sky sports to watch on a evening, but this did not spoil my stay
10.0 Excellent

Cons: We had evening meal on 5th September at the Hotel. Food delicious
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, plenty atmosphere, good food, close to Edinburgh airport
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice pub/restaurant, lovely atmosphere, most of staff friendly and helpful
Cons: Felt a cooked breakfast would've been more fitting with the price, continental was OK, maybe some cold meat and cheeses would be a bonus for people who can't eat cereals. One staff member behind the bar served my partner with a flat Stella, he asked for it to be changed but just poured out some then topped up, I returned it to the bar where a member of staff who had served us dinner changed it straight away, but was in a carling glass, this may seem picky but there's a reason why pubs are supplied with glasses as it's designed for their lagers /beers, Stella has a bit at the bottom of glass designed for Stella. Anyway apart from that we would like to thank the member of staff who served us with dinner then changed the Stella straight away which was up to standard, not flat.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful. I would certainly stay there again.
Cons: I don't want to nit pick but the décor could be doing with an upgrade.

Pros: Lovely evening meal and very friendly staff.
Cons: Very noisy.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Food in restaurant was lovely, server was quick and friendly
Cons: Room cost 90£ with breakfast; I expected central heating, not a plug in heater, not to see mould in shower, that looked new, to have beside lights that worked, not one lamp that had a badly worn shade, and decent windows that shut out most of noise from busy road outside ,also the band playing downstairs, I would like to have been made aware at booking they were going to be present ; exceptionally noisy !

6.7 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the breakfast on sunday was excellent with good localy sourced produce
5.0 Okay
Pros: Perfect hotel for overnight stay, room basic but clean, windows not double glazed, so noise from main street of which there was a lot later on. Restaurant good, easy to find.
Cons: once inside there was nothing particularly homely and it did feel slightly old . Our room was very cold with all old furniture but nothing to make it feel more comfortable.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The good & nice friendly staff
Cons: Need of a resedent lounge
2.7 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing really.
Cons: Staff never here to help you, location, price incredibly high for such a poor comfort. Definitely one of the worst hotel my girlfriend and I have never been too. And we're not this kind that complains all the time.
5.7 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the food in the restuarant was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast.
Cons: We noticed some of the room numbers were missing from the doors and had been filled in with a pen!! Not a good first impression. Our room was slightly dated with furniture from the 1980's and the shower also dated from that time. Not alot of money needed to be spent on updating this room to the 21st centuary.
7.2 Good
Pros: The staff were very helpful
Cons: the bar area would rather there was a seperate lounge bar
4.8 Okay
Pros: Clean rooms, good breakfast
Cons: Beds are only covered with a sheet and thin coversheet, wich is quite cold in a winter/autumn.
6.0 Good
Pros: Good food, friendly staff, comfortable room.
Cons: Limited parking.
5.6 Okay
Pros: the kindness of the stuff, the quiet and and close to the city of Edinburgh area.
Cons: The cleanliness of the room was pretty poor. It seemed that it has been vacuumed a long time ago and dust was everywhere. The cups, cofee pot and boiler were not clean (remainings from tea inside). I did not mentioned that to the personnel because I did not want to to argue with nobody looking or mooving to another room. For all the othee reasons I mentioned above, I would recomented the hotel to others.
8.0 Excellent
