Pros: What a gem in Mechelen. would 100% recommend
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a B&B. Nothing is standard. So many details very special that you feel as at home and not as at a hotel. And I was never before explained how to use the TV, the air condition and the light. Service was there in a new dimension. For breakfast you have the choice for three sizes. Served on your room. The only negative thing I caused by myself. To save energy I opened the window for the night instead of turning on the air condition. So I had three mosquitos as visitor.

Cons: That we booked only for 1 night...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing B&B! Very modern, excellent service! Great spot to relax!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have to admit that I normally don't rate my accommodations at booking.com but in this case I just have to do it as my stay there was just exceptionally perfect. Frankly the start was not perfect as I was just not able to find the hotel - it rather looks like the carpark of a private house. Once I found it I couldn't find the entrance as the door pretty much looks like a wall. So this could have been better. BUT we I experienced afterwards was unique and absolutely amazing. Super friendly staff, exceptional facilities, unbelievable pool, super spacy room. I mean everything was just so high, high, high end it was unbelievable. Location is a bit of somewhere in nowhere but in case you need a hotel in nowhere you just have to get a room there. I'm still a bit stoked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place tot stay !

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best host and hostess! Everything was fantastic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent facilities and very friendly hosts
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The space was a lot bigger than we expected - apart from the comfy bedroom and bathroom, there was a livingroom with a kitchen, minibar, tvcorner, sofa etc. The bed was super, great shower and topnotch domotica for lights, screens, music.
Cons: Everything is very modern, but the tv-corner is built around an old architectural feature in the house. From an architectural point of view this is absolutely charming, but the banquette is not comfortable at all. On the other hand, we didn't even expect to have such an area at our disposal, so what are we complaining about ;-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the space. The owners were terrific helped with dinner and lunch reservations. Stocked the refrigerator with beverages.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are incredibly hospitable and tended to every request we had. The property is a mix of new and old with all the modern amenities one can expect. The property rests just outside of the old town which makes it an easy walk from the train station.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were super accommodating and just lovely people, they did their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The house and the appartment itself were an architectural delight. Everything from finishes to the quality of the bed linen was outstanding. The breakfast table was laden with all sorts of delicious goodies, it was by far one of the best I've ever had.
Cons: There were no major disappointments with our stay, but the only thing that didn't work for us (and I'm nitpicking here), is the ability to open the windows without the roller blinds flapping over them in the wind. As a result the room was a little warmer than we would have liked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Patrick is a very friendly host and very accommodating. The apartment is beautiful, and the bath is also extremely nice. It's a great place to relax after a long day. The high-tech room control options are highly interesting as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious apartment with a great architecture, a great mix between old beautiful furniture and modern design with really high standard and comfort. A wonderful host that will make sure you are happy with your stay. Good location, easy parking, great breakfast; simply a excellent B&B!

Pros: Rooms were clean, attractive and well ordered; traffic noise wasn't intrusive, despite proximity to main roads. Facilities were good.
Cons: Breakfast: not a lot of variety for vegetarians; the selection was poor compared to other chain hotels I have frequented, but if you're not a vegetarian you'd probably have no cause for complaint.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A really nice and new small hotel situated in the grounds of the brewery. The restaurant is great. Also the breakfast.
Cons: The rooms are noicy, you can hear when the other guests are having late conversations over a beer or two.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved staying in a place with such heritage and especially being able to sample the beers as well as a delicious meal, with local ingredients. Our room was lovely, spacious, well equipped and modern. The location is great too, easy to get to and a short stroll to the historic town centre. Finally, it was great value - we will be looking for an excuse to return!
Cons: Staying in a Belgian brewery! - whats not to like?

Cons: Slight smell in the bathroom but have experienced similar before in Belgium hotels so not something I'm ovey concerned about as very clean.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was reasonable
Cons: Location was part of the Het Anker Brewary. Rooms were quite poor and very noisy. No power point in the bathroom, no shelf in the shower and cheap coffee packets in a glass! Breakfast was reasonable. We had issues (twice) with blown circuit breakers (turned out to be a shorting kettle) and parking boom gate failure. WiFi dropped out regularly

Pros: Comfortable bed!
Cons: No air conditioning.

Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The mattress
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, helpful staff
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great multiple-lingual staff with good customer service, no request was too much trouble, and within 5 minute walk to Vismarkt and Grote Markt
Cons: There was a bit of a convoluted walk to get to the elevator; the historic features that the property is celebrated for were not present in the wing I was staying at; the free wi-fi required manual log-ins every few hours, and it would be great if there's a gym
7.5 Good
Pros: Bedroom was very comfortable, friendly staff, good service
Cons: Breakfast was common and overpriced. Lift didn't work
6.8 Good
Pros: Stunning refurbished church, spectacular suite!
Cons: Details - too modest and small bathroom, sober room decoration, fixed hangers (as if we’d steal them :(, limited stock in mini-bar, limited choice of room service.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: n/a
Cons: Booked 2 Junior Suites: Check-in slow and hard. Bed feels like sleeping in the dessert, "Bed" hard and well used (no mattress on the boxspring, just a little (LITTLE) cover). No water pressure in the shower. Un practical room, no space to walk straight, because the "Bed" is in the middle/centre of the room and the (Church) walls are round. Towels are thin like kitchen towels. TV LED lighting stay on (even when the TV is shut down) impossible to sleep with this high volume light.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, great staff.
Cons: The double bed - there are easy ways (IKEA) to cover the gap between the 2 mattresses, I had the feeling I was sinking in the bed whenever I was close to the middle. Or get a good big mattress. The furniture had some scratches and spots were on the armchairs, plus the stained-glass window had some cracks. Some of these issues can be tackled without major costs and it would improve the overall quality of the room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room and concept
Cons: Breakfast too expensive. Value for money not justified
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A unique experience ..fabulous hotel converted form a church and the décor is amazing. Very friendly and accommodating staff and lovely breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bedroom was extremely big and was pleasantly surprised. Also loved the decor of the room and it was spotless.
Cons: The bedroom was a bit noisy, could hear noise in the hallways. Also air con was very loud.

Hotel Mercure Mechelen Vé - Mechelen - Bedroom
10
8.5 Excellent (992 reviews)
C$ 175+
Overview Reviews
Mercure Mechelen Vé has a historical background. The hotel is located in a former fish smokehouse and cigar factory. The interior has a luxury look and feel which can also be found in our facilities. Enjoy the wellness, be active in the fitness area or try the golf court, which is located a little outside Mechelen. After a busy day, you can eat the most delicious dishes in our restaurant Vé Manger followed by one of our cocktails in the Vé Lounge.
7.5 Good
Pros: Easygoing and friendly, made us feel at home. The gym was small but efficient
Cons: The shower in our room was not well planned. The pavement in the shower very slippery due to a large quantity of water which tends to spread all over also outside the shower area
6.8 Good
Pros: Location was good
Cons: There was a lot of noise on the street at night (Saturday night). Our room also looked clean, but when looking further under the bed there was a lot of dirt (old candy, dust, trash,...). We also enjoyed the wellness, unfortunately it was only available in the morning and also the water of the jacuzzi was really cold.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed at a few hotels in the area now and the Mercure exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be returning and hope to make it my long term hotel of choice in Mechelen. A great experience.

4.5 Okay
Cons: Needs cleaning and refurbisment
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff and great breakfasts
Cons: Could do with the pool restrictions being a bit clearer for UK visitors as the “renting out” is not something I’ve come across before. However The staff managed to find us a small window for two tired ice hockey players to relax in the hot tub in between game days so thanks for that.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, great location for Mechelen centre, nice area outside to sit and enjoy some food
Cons: Air conditioning didn’t really do much and it was quite warm when I stayed, only a small problem in comparison to all the good stuff, and more than likely a one off in my room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere in the hotel as a previous cigar factory is very cool. The location near all of the bars and close to the Grote Markt was perfect for us while exploring the area.
Cons: The pool and wellness center were very nice but the hours and use of the pool was very confusing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff , very clean
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was great
Cons: Slow reception
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A lovely hotel in a great location within easy walking distance of sights in Mechelen. Very helpful staff who arranged an early check in. Would recommend and would stay again.

Pros: Exterior, whole atmosphere... pleasent, comfortable, warm... Hostes is very nice, provides all possible extra info, wants to help in every situation. Whole idea and concept about hotel is very nice. There is also big garden, little lake, outdoor place for enjoying summer stay...
Cons: Distance from Train station - 20min walking 30min walk from center City transportation - BUS has not so often passes near hotel (20-45min). Taxi is expensive...

Pros: Location
Cons: N/a
9.5 Excellent
Pros: In the centre of Mechelen, one goes up the hotel's drive way and suddenly the quiet and piece of the countryside. A real surprise. Not to worry about parking space for our big van, enough space. The owner is very friendly. The hotel is an old mansion from the textile age in Belgium. Breakfast is excellent and you get fried eggs with bacon, if you want, I am sure I will go back there when I am in the area
Cons: nothing I could think of

Also many fresh fruits and granolas. It was very quiet even near lift - really good place to recharge your battery by sleeping. Mini-bar, coffee machine and tea pot in room - very useful items!

Pros: Location. Breakfast.
Cons: Dust under the bed and the table. Don't you know about vacuum cleaning, guys? Attempt to cheat during check-out: oh, I was told you took water and cola from minibar (I didn't touch anything) Light switcher for the bathroom is ... near the entrance while the bathroom door is in a couple of meters!

Pros: The staff was great, the hotel is getting renovated, so I think they know where they can improve it.
Cons: It could be much cleaner, I was in a suit & they never changed the bed sheets for 4 days
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was great, excellent shower. Breakfast buffet with a lot of choice in good bread, meat, cheese, juices, yoghourt, muesli, anything you could think of. Breakfast lounge with a wonderfulp view! Quiet neighbourhood. This is the address for my next bussinesstravels to Mechelen.
Cons: I missed an elevator to take my suitcase to the first floor. Although some exercise did me good...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice quiet location just outside Mechelen. Very friendly staff throughout. Very pleasant rooms - NO carpet on the floors. Comfortable beds. Easy parking.
Cons: Nothing really. I did not try the breakfast as I had to leave early. It is not altogether cheap, but not exaggeratedly expensive either. I recommend this place if you want quiet, comfort, easy access and no hassle parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room I had at the hotel overlooked the lake and offered a nice view in the morning. Though we arrived late, after the desk staff had finished, they were very helpful and gave us the door code and left our keys on the desk. The breakfast is a simple continental selection with fresh brewed coffee and many options to suit all tastes and diets. We would use them again when in town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice view on the little lake
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean & included all amenities one needs
Cons: Old-fashioned tile floor in the rooms, even though the room was very clean & included everything you need, this kind of made it feel like a cold prison cell.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff on reception were most helpful and willing to answer any queries we had. The breakfast buffet was very good and attentively topped up when items were getting used up.
4.3 Okay
Pros: the view of the pond is beautiful
Cons: The room was tiny and the walls thin and we were frequently woken up by other guests. And moreover, the property is very very far from the center of Mechelen.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff
Cons: Beds were very soft and unsupportive.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the center of Mechelen. Good price/quality balance Most important: super genuine friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Tje are renovating and you should always keep a review in balance with the price you paid, so let’s say I hope they continue their renovation.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Easy walk from train and near a nice bakery.
Cons: We stayed here for three nights over the Tomorrowland weekend at a price of over 200 EUR per night. The room looked like it was mid-renovation with pieces of baseboards missing and holes in the wall. Walls are thin and you can hear everything going on around you. Our bedding was full of sand the night we arrived, the hairdryer (which looks like it arrived circa 1985) didn't work and the shower is BARELY big enough for one person. There is no minibar as noted in the description (we had a nonworking fridge in our room though). A door on the stairwell was constantly propped open showing a rather cluttered rooftop space which demonstrated basic lack of care this place seems to have. Don't bother here!
7.5 Good
Cons: The airco is not working . It's really to hot in the hotel and in you room
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful
Cons: Breakfast could have been better.
5.0 Okay

8.0 Excellent
Cons: The air conditioner did not cool at all. We reported it for the receptionist, he came and showed how does it work but after that it was the same. The temperature was outside around 40 degrees, in our room 30 degrees the whole night, because of this we could not sleep.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Very small bed at single room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so helpful and accommodating. They even let us check in early and had the cleaning staff focus on our room to get us in early. The rooms are quite large and comfortable as well.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Cosy hotel in the city center with easy access at night and good beds. We had a great breakfast (various drinks, fruits, bread + also little chocolate breads and croissants, cereal, eggs, toppings, yogurt, cheese and cold cuts) in a cosy breakfast room.
Cons: I Requested 2 quiet rooms but 1 of the rooms was on the street side which has a lot of noise at night. Our bathroom didn't have any ventilation which caused a bit of mold forming on the ceiling. The bathroom of the other room was fine.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is excellent, in the middel of town, close to everything. Service and staff are very friendly, ready to help. Overall cleanliness, really felt like the hotel and the room was well taken care of. All basses covered for room and in good state.
Cons: Room located by street = street noise at night. Sometimes noise from hallway as well. Felt like I didn't have much privacy. For the price, I expected more than just the basics in the room. Felt like the focus was on the breakfast area and the location.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: View on the Cathedral from the breakfast room Direct access to city center
Cons: Small rooms, small bathroon
4.3 Okay
Pros: Almost nothing.
Cons: Single room is small. Cold in the room. Cold bathroom and floor. Needs slippers. Expensive for what it offers. Take double room instead of single.
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
4.5 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff and central location
Cons: The sink was broken and almost fell of the wall, the room smelled like an old grandmothers home, room was hot and no airco, below the outside window is a restaurant with a lot of noise till 3 am. No sleep at all. Told staff and no response at all. Would not recommend this hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and location were ideal. The city of Mechelen is in a great location as well. 15 mins or so to Brussels and Antwerp. Dont sleep on Mechelen though, the Saturday market is wonderful and the shops are quaint and hip.
Cons: Bar next door is a little loud at night, but not so bad that I couldnt sleep. The hotel is in the center of the town so some noise is expected.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location is fine. But hotel is not easy to see from the main road. Breakfast is good enough and the dining room is pleasant.
Cons: So called double bed was two singles pushed together and there were no food/drink facilities apart from breakfast. Soap was ridiculously small in the bathroom. It was not clear from the booking site that there is no night reception.
7.0 Good
Pros: Simple design
Cons: to Early Check out

Pros: The receptionist prepared a ham and eggs omelet! Good service
Cons: The evening receptionist recommended 4 near by restaurants (at walking distance) but all 4 were closed during wednesday evening June 12th.
5.5 Okay
Pros: We need to be close to where my son stay and so it sufficed.
Cons: They we busy with a much needed renovations. The renovations was happening on the bottom floor and our room was on the top. Our room was in desperate need of a vacuum - we found 2 cigarette buts and a huge dead fly on the carpet behind the curtain. Underneath the bead was also very dusty.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We had to be close to where our son lived, so as far as location went, it sufficed.
Cons: There was renovations underway- on the bottom floor, our room was on the top floor. Our room was in desperate vacuum - there were 2 cigarette butts and a huge dead fly on the carpet just behind the curtains. The carpet underneath the bed was very dusty too. We will never return there.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quick highway access, located at the E19 highway between Brussels and Antwerp. Even a trip to Brussels National Airport is easy as the hotel is located at the north side of the the capital (as is the airport). Have stayed in this hotel multiple times (one night at the time) and was pleasantly surprised that the bathroom in my room had been very recently renovated and upgraded. All reasons to come back.
Cons: No complains.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: On reception Shakir was very helpful and cooked us a very nice ommelette for breakfast. There was a very nice walk along the adjacent canal and for the evening restaurant La Vista 10 minutes walk away serves very good lobster and fish. English spoken at most places.
Cons: Parking in centre of Mechelen is difficult but if you drive to Douaneplein on the outskirts there is free parking and a Hendriks shuttle bus every five minutes to the central Groote Market, there is no charge on a Saturday.
7.5 Good
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: The fact it advertised it had a bar( whilst strictly true ) I was really disappointed that the bar only served bottle beer as I prefer draught beer.

7.0 Good
Pros: Comfy bed, and private bathroom just off the room was a welcome surprise
Cons: Breakfast, ran out of certain food items (croissants, cheese, etc.) and not replenished.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Close to train station. The time I booked was quiet so I had the room for myself the whole time
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A great welcome from the front desk guy who seemed to have multiple roles to play! Good location. Decent breakfast.
Cons: As a hostel no complaints. Nearby railway was a little noisy but trains seemed to stop by midnight and pick up early morning.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice eco-hostel with lots of pro-eco solutions and suggestions. Basic equipment that you need just to sleep, like in a hostel. Very basic breakfast included. Parking nearby - normal city payment. Very nice and helpful personnel.
6.3 Good
Pros: Perfect location, friendly staff
Cons: The fact that I couldn’t regulate the temprature of the shower by myself. The price of the room was high comparing to the simplicity of the room.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Easy to find from the station. Front desk was very friendly.
Cons: The rooms were like cells, which would be OK but the price was rather high when we have to make our own beds. I understand this is a youth hostel, but it is priced like a B&B but without the comfort or facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Both the wardens were friendly and helpful. The female warden on duty in the morning was especially pleasant and had a lovely long chat with us. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
6.8 Good
Pros: Probably can't beat the price in Mechelen. Good enough for a short stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was addequate. Beds comfortable. Bathroom clean.
Cons: As there were no nets over the window there were many mosquitoes. I was bitten a lot during the night. I think hostels should have separate dorms for people who snore. I only managed to get 3 hours sleep due to the other guest who snored very loud.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: it was clean! that is by far the most important of everything!
Cons: Maybe the entrance garden could have been a little better looked after. But that was a minor point. The entrance to the toilet in the foyer was unlit. I had to grope my way though the dark
