It felt like the opening scenes of an apocalyptic movie. I was transported back to 1963- the decor, the Cadillacs, the neat but deserted village. The sense of anticipation of pending doom while taking every possible precaution to keep life normal. The staff were efficient, friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome under special circumstances. I hope the hotel will weather this storm as I am sure it has many in its history. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy the country hotels of my childhood again.

Early check in accommodated. The food both breakfast and dinner were excellent. We used the restaurant both nights. The staff are amazing and we felt like family. Great interaction and my wife loved her massage. We really appreciated the attention to detail and art deco throughout just a incredible trip in time. The Africa Hut something Hemingway would have felt right at home in. Brilliant.

The bed was too small The floor in our room was squeaky In the Karoo you expect the Karoo lamb to be perfect. Mine was not near perfect, lots of fat and undercooked. Other dishes were fine
