Excellent hotel in Ottawa
The staff is extremely pleasant, courteous and helpful.
High end hotel without the price
Probably the best value I’ve received for a hotel stay. Fantastic location. Wonderful staff. I will be returning.
The building itself is older. Not a bad thing but something to be aware of.
Close to downtown, older style hotel nice , older pool but nice
Breakfast was awful for room service didn't even get what we ordered
pile em high
Nice enough, good location, valet staff friendly and organised. Shower was great.
Entrance to drop off very crowded, Bar closed at 11.15 they had no coffee and wouldn't make any, just a very strange attitude at the bar the ambience is more "what are you doing here" than welcome We ordered a queen got a double bed.
Excellent location and dependable quality
The location and helpfulness of staff will keep bringing us back to the Lord Elgin
There is nothing to dislike. The hotel features first rate amenities within a fine old hotel that is maintained impeccably.
Very close to the canal for winter skating
Centrally located! Friendly! Helpful! Comfortable!!! Good rates! Finally installed safes for the room!!
Bar and restaurant could have been open later with entertainment? Relax in Lounge after night out!!
Stayed there for a wedding nearby
Loved the location.
There's nothing to dislike.
A few useful tips to improve the client experience
I liked the location and the decor of the lobby. Most of the staff are very friendly and professional. The food in the restaurant was great and well worth the price.
My tv in the room did not work (no sound on the tv) It eventually got fixed, but took some time staring at the walls in the mean time. The pillows were very thin and cheap, I would highly recommend buying somm good quality pillows that are firm so guests would get a better sleep. At night I had little bites all over me, so I am not sure if I was allergic to the mattress or the laundry detergent they use. The parking service is extremely expensive and it takes a long time for the parking attendants to move all of the cars underground to get to yours, so that is not a very modern or efficient system.
30.00 night for parking
Great location to walk to all Ottawa locations!
Location, location, location!
Parking was expensive and it a long time to get the car. The Internet stopped before we checked out. Bathrooms could be better and are a little dirty. The blinds in the bathroom were very dirty. Bathroom should also have more towels.
Location great/ Front Desk staff deplorable
The convenient location is the only redeeming thing about this hotel.
For years I have wanted to stay at this hotel -- I finally had the opportunity and was sorrly disappointed by the way I was spoken to and treated by front desk staff. I asked reasonable questions and said please and thank you and was treated with "...yes but you booked this on-line". As if to say I was not worthy of decent service because I booked my room on-line at the last minute." My room was not as described when I booked and I would suggest the Hotel Management double check what On-Line Travel Services are offering on behalf of their hotel - so that people are not mis-lead and then asking your snobby Front Desk staff about what was promised and then not offered. I would have to say the price for a room is definitely not worth it. Rooms are dated and smaller than reviews and photos. The Lord Elgin did not live up to any of my expectations -- the Front Desk staff could do with better customer service training. However, BellMen/Valet staff and Housekeeping were delightful.
Ideally located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, overlooking Confederation Park and the National Arts centre. Lord Elgin is steps away from the Rideau Canal; the world's longest skating rink in the winter and a beautiful waterway in the summer; the Shaw Centre, Parliament Buildings, and Ottawa Rideau Centre.
