We showed up at our scheduled reservation time (8 am) to pick up our car, which was also the time that the rental office was supposed to open. We waited for an hour and a half and nobody ever showed up. We called the numbers we were given for the rental agency, and we could hear he phone ringing inside the office. We finally asked an attendent at a neighboring business to see if he could find a personal number for whoever worked at that office. He found it and when we called him he said we would have to wait another 20 minutes before he got there. Unfortunately, our schedule didn't allow us to wait any longer and we had to quickly find alternate transportation to our destination. We payed the upfront booking costs, so we just simply lost that money. If you rent From here you may want to call ahead and double check that there actually will be someone at the office at your reserved time. Or just simply save yourself the trouble and rent from somewhere else.

Nothing comes to mind

Cons:

One guy there. He was absolutely struggling. Only three customers, and I was customer #2. It literally took over an hour to get checked out because the system was down.

Rental was satisfactory in terms of car

Cons:

The Kayak rate was not honored. The returning team at airport agreed that I was not charged correctly but said the pickup location had to fix it. I've complained but heard no response.

Pick up was fine but when i needed to drop off an hour late they wanted to charge me an extra day. So, I ended up dropping it off before the drop off time however when I received my bill it said it was late by 2 hours and they charged me. Also, I was charged almost 10x the agreed price to my credit card. Never again.

Great experience overall. I had a fun little manual hybrid Fiat 500 that was perfect for Italy. Zero deductible damage insurance gave me some peace of mind in a foreign country.

The car was downgraded with no reduction in the cost and the person told me it was the same category. I checked when I got home and it was not. I also never received the receipt by mail as promised.

All the customer service representatives were very friendly!

Cons:

We spent nearly an hour with the agent trying to sell us insurance we kept saying we didn't want. Then I asked about switching to an automatic. When it was apparent that the automatic transmission car was going to cost about 400 euro more, we said no forget it, that we'd go with what we had reserved. But he kept making tweaks and changes to the deal to try to get us to go with the bigger car (seriously, after a translatlantic flight and NO sleep, who wants to spend an hour with someone trying to upsell you?). Finally I said, I just want the car I reserved. And he said, ok, we'll give you the bigger car for the same price. What??? I suspect the car I reserved wasn't even available so the whole thing had been a charade to get us to get the bigger vehicle. And only it wasn't exactly the same price I had reserved it at. We had a heck of a time with a 9-passenger vehicle trying to get through some of the narrow streets and ended up scratching a bumper. All in all, I would avoid Budget/Avis at all costs!
