Pros: Very charming and beautiful renovated hotel in the middle of the old town of Schaffhausen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have a 2 nights holiday just to see the waterfall. This hotel was just what we needed. Very clean, very good breakfast, fancy rooms, close to all restaurant around and what I needed more... was very quiet. I have a special Thank you note for Ms. Sabrina from the reception, who was extremly kind, professional, with a perfect english for foreign tourists, actually, the perfect employee for a hotel. Thank you, we had The Best Time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is good
Cons: The bed is a little bit small
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had to catch an early train on our last day, leaving before breakfast opened. When the front desk clerk learned of this the night before, she went out of her way to prepare us a breakfast box that was waiting for us the next morning. It was a very nice and unexpected gesture that epitomized the hotel’s first class approach to their guests
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very kind. Location in centre of town. Breakfast.
Cons: There’s no parking available at hotel.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location is very good and the building is beautiful and nicely decorated.
Cons: The building lacks a good ventilation system and A/C. Now in the summer it's absolutely unbearable to stay in the room with the heat and high humidity. 35ºC or more in the room at night! There seems to be no solution to this, so the best is to avoid this hotel in the summer. However, the ventilation as such is not good. The wifi connection is very weak and unstable, which is unacceptable, if you need to work in the room...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, staff very helpful and the location is spot on. The building is beautifully renovated . You are staying in a peice of history
Cons: It may be a little close to the train station for some, but they make up for it with amazing staff, solid double glazed windows and a perfect location.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very interesting design, modern hotel in a very old building, well done. Our room had one old granite and timber wall and three modern ones - slightly snug but lots of character. Staff was very helpful. Good location close to railroad and bus station. Lots of good places to eat in the area.
Cons: no issues.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location within walking distance of bus, train, attractions; handy to the bike trail. Breakfast was excellent; staff were helpful and friendly.
Cons: We happened to be there during warm weather; there is no air conditioning. We had a nice breeze, so it was okay, but I just want others to be aware of this.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Early check-in was possible.

Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Cons: Higher price for the rooms than the given perception.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location to train station. Accommodatrion of the front desk staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 1 minute to train station and 2 minutes to old town. Quiet, comfortable, modern, clean. Fantastic breakfast. Very nice staff. I would definitely stay here again. In fact, we stayed an extra night because we liked it so much.
Cons: Loved the modern clever design, but it has one major design flaw: the bathroom vanity/sink area is not enclosed, and there is a clear glass wall between the shower and bed area. While it looks cool, it means in practice that if one of you rises earlier than the other, the light from the vanity/ sink or shower risks waking your roommate.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff , the room is big , very clean and the location
Cons: The mattress are very tiny in width and not comfortable, the pillows are too soft and the water faucet is in the room and not in the toilet, which is a bit up normal.
6.3 Good
Pros: I liked the layout of the room. the beds are good. interesting bathroom facilities setup
Cons: Noise in the night, the crowded breakfast with too little refill on everything. Would have been good to have on or two more staff to organize the buffet in time of big affluence. No tea kettle in the room

Cons: Nothing

6.3 Good
Pros: Unfortunately the hotel rooms are not air-conditioned and the weather was 36%, quite uncomfortable as you can imagine to sleep.
6.7 Good
Pros: Overall good hotel from a business traveling perspective. It has everything and is close to the center. It’s quite a green walk to get there which is nice. Feels very old-school which gives it a rustic and cozy feeling.
Cons: The downside of its age is that it has somewhat outdated furniture and obsolete facilities. For business you usually care about efficiency so that’s fine. In order to obtain WiFi though you are required to send an sms but if you don’t have access to local service provider then it’s a no go.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, attractive decor, lovely garden, excellent continental breakfast with great bread. Only 5-10 minutes walk to station and old town.
7.1 Good
Pros: Reasonable value hotel. Free parking. Good bathroom and shower, good location.
Cons: Small room (difficult to access bed from one side) average breakfast, staff not particularly helpful on arrival.
7.9 Good
Pros: This was a last minute booking. The day of, actually! I was very lucky since there was a music festival in town and accommodation was heavily booked! Although within walking distance from the train station and the old town centre, approx 0.5 of a km, its ALL UPHILL. Certainly no fun with luggage!!! The # 4 bus that takes you about halfway up the hill (first stop). I wish I knew about this beforehand. Also a flight of stairs to get to reception. Furniture in both the room and throughout the hotel is VERY SIMPLE solid but again VERY SIMPLE. Would even be called 'dated decor' from a design perspective. The pink tub chairs next to reception should be recovered, they are showing signs of heavy use on the arms and very faded fabric. Breakfast food the next morning was also very simple and basic. Nothing gourmet here but no surprises. Everything overall was very clean and staff very friendly, polite and helpful. No complaints during my stay. Would return.
7.1 Good
Pros: Quite good for a couple of days
Cons: Old style
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff - especially when we tried to book a taxi. Location was also very good - close to station but in a quiet leafy area.

Pros: Staff are friendly. Dinner is great. Room is in good condition and clean.
Cons: may not convenient if do not have car. Breakfast is not good as expected.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were so happy with our short stay at the Promenade Hotel. The Classic Family Room was perfect for our family of six. Beds were comfy, showers easy to work and the breakfast was superb. Meats, cheeses, eggs, breads and the best bircher muesli I have ever had. There is a beautiful garden that you are welcome to enjoy. The hotel is a short walk from Schaffhausen town centre and a short drive to the Rhine Falls. Thank you to all the staff who were so lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel. .
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: Silence and tranquility
Cons: Old style furniture

7.9 Good
Pros: Perfect location to explore Schaffhausen, with really nice view of the Munot. Generally speaking an affordable and correctly kept three star hotel.
Cons: Design in the rooms is generally outdated. The lady supervising the breakfest room placed "reserved" table on a number of tables being in the shade and thus desirable to sit at, though the breakfest room was half empty, which I found totally ridicilous.

Pros: Set in a charming, quiet village, we received a warm welcome here. The room was family friendly and good value for the area. We had a great evening meal, beautifully presented and in such a friendly and relaxed setting. The building was full of character and following our meal we had a drink in the bar amongst many locals. Hotel & Restaurant Alte Rheinmühle - Schaffhausen - Building

8.3 Excellent (130 reviews)
C$ 223+
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was basic continental breakfast. No croissants or pastries, but different breads.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location on the water....
Cons: It's rather weird-cold feeling...you feel alone (I think we were left alone at property), no coffee, drinks, fridge in room...my wife didn't feel safe at property...we also didn't have a way to enter property after hours....we upgraded to big room with a water view, we stayed alone, or may be few people at property at that time, and we felt that day could have givin us a more special stay, by upgrading us... Food was very expensive, way too much....menu was not explained, I am a hotel manager, and chef by profession!!!....
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A spectacular location on the river. A beautifully maintained old building. Very helpful staff
Cons: Hard to find fault
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning view of Rhine as the hotel is located right next to the river bank. Enjoyed sudden snow while having breakfast. Free parking and enough space for even large vehicles. Wonderful and helpful staffs
Cons: Old bed and bedding requires modernization. Bath and shower gadget requires modernization as well. Low water pressure. Breakfast needs improvement in terms of variety.
7.1 Good
Pros: Beautiful building, lovely location. Good bathroom, very nice breakfast.
Cons: Room bit basic for price, tv in wrong place.
5.0 Okay
Cons: We booked a deluxe room with river view, but we got a plain standard room with noisy street view. After talking to the staff, the deluxe room turned out to be available after all and we could switch rooms. This "deluxe" room turned out to be much smaller than anticipated, it would barely fit the extra bed that we booked. Also the room was very plain, no airconditioning, nor any ventilation of any kind, and not much of a river view. Although the extra bed is advertised at 25/night, we were charged 50/night. All in all, we felt that the whole place is pretty basic and way overpriced, we left in a hurry
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location next to the Rhein river. We liked the atmosphere of the Hotel and the Restaurant. Good food and service. During dinner and breakfast we could enjoy the view of the nature. Location at about 6 km from Schaffausen.

7.7 Good
Pros: Great location on the banks of the Rhine (close-ish to the ferry terminal too), beautiful rooms, very helpful and friendly staff, nice food and sensible wine selection. Close to perfection.
Cons: All this loveliness means it is quite pricey!
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is comfortable and very welcoming, with a excellent ambience. The restaurant is very good for the evenings , with good food and views of the Rhine, which runs right along side the hotel. Breakfasts are fine too. Although a few kilometres out if Schaffhausen, a bus service provides easy access for anyone travelling by train. It is also wasy to access boats for trips along the Rhine.

4.8 Okay
Pros: nice river location.
Cons: no rooms with with view!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a little difficult to find, but well worth it. It was beautiful and on the Rhein River (so romantic). We did upgrade our room for a bigger bed but it was well worth it. The room was like a suite and room and bath were beautifully appointed. The hotel restaurant was a bit expensive but the food and service were very good.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Location and staff were great
Cons: Room wasn’t cleaned Bathroom was very dirty No Airconditioning Insufficient food at breakfast Too much of taxes to pay We stayed 4 nights with our 2young kids aged 5 & 6 and had to pay Ch65 in taxes. That was outrageous
9.6 Excellent
Pros: My only comment is the first person we interacted with did not seem as friendly as the rest of the staff we interacted with. He was a bit abrupt. The diner we ate there was wonderful! Probably the best meal the entire trip. We did not go to the breakfast in the morning but it look very good. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The hotel was a bit farther from town than I thought when I booked but we still enjoyed our stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: All was good.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is somewhat odd but actually relatively central. In 5 min you will be in the centre by car. Parking abundant. The hotel itself is basic but brings all you need. Not much of horse activity however.
Cons: The sheets were synthetic which made sleeping somewhat inconvenient.
6.7 Good
Pros: Staff were extremely helpful, room was very comfortable, bathroom was particularly good.
Cons: Car parking was a continual problem as was the continual lack of tea and coffee making equipment in the room.
7.1 Good
Pros: Close to the highway, nice and affordable pizza's! Elevator available. Good breakfast included, complete set toeristical information available in the room.

Cons: Everyday the shower gels/shampoos are not replacing/keeping new one's.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: All was good and satisfying.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Youth Hostel Schaffhausen in Schaffhausen, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Rhine Falls and IWC Museum. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice breakfast. Walkway to Schaffhausen around 15~20 mins, close to bus stations. Quiet.
Cons: We were on the top floor, which is why the WiFi connection was poor, but otherwise it was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist (a young girl) was super nice and helpful! The hostel is very nice and clean, with a lovely common area and garden.
Cons: There were a few bugs around the place - maybe a pest control could be useful
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the environment and the experience living in a old castle
Cons: the building is surrounded by a rocky path, no concrete smooth road surface for luggage, a little hard times to move the luggage in.
7.9 Good
Pros: The YH was set well away from the town, so mainly quiet. There were few guests staying and except for breakfast time, hardly heard or saw people. The staff were very helpful an friendly. The place is simple and seems that work is still being done to renervate the building. The grounds are lovely to sit and relax beneath the old leafy trees. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Ideal location for catching bus to Rhein falls.
Cons: Our room was in the attic, and quirky and some ways charming (Lindt room). It seemed unfinished with cupboards having cables left in them. The main problem was the noise of the clock tower chiming throughout the night, and staff smoking below beneath window; smoke smells coming into room. Reception staff apologetic on smokers behalf and would bring to their attention. Wifi reception not good on site. Kitchen locked at 8pm, I think, so unable to get hot drink in evening.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly
Cons: Felt a bit stuffy not comfortable and overpriced for a youth hostel
7.5 Good
Pros: Cool old Manor house. " Herrenhouse" not really castle though English speakers call it so. Comfortable beds. No problems checking in despite being late and past regular check in hours. Able to arrange for key and linens to be left in open entrance for us. Good European breakfast. Nice coffee machine with good coffee. Friendly staff. Attractive wooden paneled common room my son sat in every night to chat with his girlfriend
Cons: A bit run down and I don't mean the age of the structure. I mean the furniture. The linens left for us to make up our own beds were very scratchy and old. Further away than the center of town and Rhine falls than they claim and old medieval city only a couple buildings here or there. The small downtown was old and somewhat attractive but not the medical city they claim. It was by far the most expensive Hostel on our. Europe trip. Also, on our second night as we were preparing for sleep someone unlocked our door. There had been a mix up and they had given our room to another family. Good thing I had the booking print out and they took care of the issue quickly.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The kindness of the staff and the building
Cons: Non reception after 8pm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and cooperative. The room was very nice and clean. Breakfast buffet was good. I would higly recommend this hostel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Historic building. Friendly and helpful staff. English is no problem at all. Nice outside area with table tennis, volleyball, and a lots of camping tables. Bus stop just outside with direct connection to city center or the Rheinfall site. Nice viewpoint over the town just a few minutes walk up the hill.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Great breakfast. Very clean and comfortable facility.

4.2 Okay
Pros: Location is near the train station.
Cons: It was too hot in the room and noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Adorable beds, across the street from the train station, very friendly and fun people in the bar downstairs! Highly recommended!
Cons: Only one outlet for charging in 4 person room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is superb! Right next to train station, 1min walk. And the hostel feel very vintage (in a good way) and classy.
Cons: Can do better with more sockets, but thats fine for me as i was lucky to occupy the whole room when i stay :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a large room right next to the showers. The house itself was very quiet even tho there's a pub downstairs. The beds were very comfortable. House has lots of historic character. Soap in the bathroom was much appreciated. Bathrooms were nice and clean. There's no bike room but there's a secure place to lock bikes outside.
Cons: For the price we paid, a simple breakfast would have been a reasonable expectation. I wish there were a guest laundry or at least a place to hang some clothes to dry. It's a hostel but there's no kitchen to make our own meals or store cold foods. The hostel is in a noisy location, near the train station and bus stops, so earplugs are a must.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: perfect bed
Cons: comunication, anawer to the phone, e mail
5.0 Okay
Pros: The proprietor was disorganized and didn't seem as if he was expecting us. He disappeared overnight and never saw him again.
Cons: Very stylish and unusual accommodation which was quite memorable.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, just a few steps from the train station. Checkin is efficient, once you know where (if the door does not open, just go through to the bar in the building and ask them). Checkout very simple, too. Rooms and sheets and provided towels are clean.
Cons: I don't mind basic accommodation at all. However, for a bed in a basic shared room, located in a slightly older building, the price could be a little bit lower. (I'm not sure whether prices were slightly raised because I was there during a music festival.)
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Location, silence
Cons: Dirty couch in the room, no wardrobe in the room, bathroom was not cleaned for 2 days in a row, no power socket close to the bed, no reading light close to the bed, no reception, no one available for checkout, no receipt available, room was different from the one in the picture, price is too high
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotless clean
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Very good view on Rein Fall. There is a beautiful walking path way that is free before 8, should definitely see that! The staffs are very kind and enthusiastic, help us a lot and provide many information/recommendation. Sincerely advice: don't arrive later than 21:00 or it might be too dark to find your way to hostel and also may be charged for more price.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great location and free breakfast that hood
Cons: Beds, washroom not on same floor
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is really great, the train station is directly at the foot of castle, and you can take the lift to go up and down. There is a connection between Zurich and Schaffhausen at the station. The nature is also good. It is a place you can really have a rest.
Cons: If the breakfast has more choices it would be better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First I saw many children running around which scared me a little, but this place turned out really nice. The staff and hosts are very nice and helpful. The kids were fun and quiet after 10pm. I had a room with a nice family and a teacher. All of them were super nice. If you need to plug many electronics you need to know its only one socket in the room but you can have a multi use power outlet for 10 franc deposit. The bathrooms are big and clean, the breakfast is delicious and buffet style. And I left the most amazing part to the end. The location is a gem. You can enter the waterfall for free and you can get in at night as well and see it with night lights and early morning when there is nobody at all. After 9-10am its starts to be extremely touristy. I would recommend to visit it at 7-8am, you will take amazing photos and videos and will have an unforgettable time. You can park for free outside in the huge parking lot which is very rare in Switzerland. I recommend you to walk through the bridge to the other side of the waterfall. Its less amazing but another perspective of the river.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good and clean place in the center of the city! The service was pretty good, we enjoyed our time there.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, good communication, the bar was open late, not fancy but everything was clean and worked. The common toilet and showers were clean and didn’t actually feel shared! Right in the middle of old town and 3 minutes from the train station and McDonalds. Schaffhausen is a beautiful city! My second time in this hotel.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit pricey (11Sfr), but ok, it’s Switzerland, and left as an option (good). I could sleep after a few drinks but being in the middle of town, there’s lots of noise from the alleyways. Probably not for light sleepers. Smoking is permitted in the bar.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was good..Very close to train station. All shops are nearby.
Cons: Ventilation problem in Bathroom..
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Room was full of cigarette smoke coming from somewhere. Tight stairs and very limited storage for bikes.

Overview Reviews
A stay at Hotel & Backpackers Zak places you in the heart of Neuhausen am Rheinfall, within a 15-minute walk of Rhine Falls and Schloessli Woerth.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is very convenient. It's just 5-8 mins walk to the Rheinfall, 3 mins to COOP, 5-8 mins walk to Neuhausen train station. Staff there are very friendly although there is only one guy who can speak fluent English.
Cons: There is no hair dryer in the room but you can borrow one from the reception. There is no kettle available in the room either but you can always get hot water from the bar downstairs. So although not very convenient, it's still reasonable.
7.1 Good

Cons: Noisy nicht because of the Windows to the Main street
9.2 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is pretty near Rhine falls, and the place was lively, good value for the price and the welcome drink was surprise.

Cons: scruffy ambience.
7.9 Good
Pros: It's a best low budget Hotel available in the city. Hotel is clean and tidy, staffs are very accommodative. Very near to Rheinfalls, Train station and super markets.
7.1 Good
Cons: There is a Noisy Fan on top of the roof, not able to fall asleep with the window and wall droning on the third floor.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location as it was a short 8m walk to the Rheinfalls area. The Café / Pub on ground level was lively and great for those who love a drink. Owner was amazing generous as she paid for my parking ticket (CHF40) as the hotel parking was full. It was no fault of her as I was informed that free parking lasted till 8am but I woke up late and got a ticket at 830am. Must say that the traffic warden were really hardworking on a Sunday morning.
Cons: The noise from the pub / café could be noisy at times but overall it was manageable.
4.2 Okay
Cons: poor pillows no curtains on windows or blinds very noisy dirt in corners of room
