Pros:I was unable to leave Thailand to go to England then to Croatia for my holiday. I contacted SIXT on many occasions and they would not allow me to cancel my booking without loosing money. I will not rent with them again.Reviewed 4 Aug. 2020

Pros:I booked a Renault scenic (intermediate class) and instead received a station wagon - they were adamant in convincing me that they are the same class. Regardless, they were not professional in their attitude and offered me a different car which that I would have to pay additionally. Quite ridiculous and this would never happen in the US. I do not have good experiences with your franchise office in CroatiaReviewed 28 Jun. 2020

Never renting sixt againPros:The car was spaciousCons:We took a trip to Croatia from the U.S and had rented a vehicle for 32 days. Prior to leaving for our trip we had called SIXT Zagreb about 3 or 4 times to make sure everything was all set but when we arrived in Zagreb they surprised us with a completely different price for the car. I was told 1300 USD$ for a 32 day period but when arrived they were asking over 3000 USD$. Also they had told us our car insurance from home would be able to transfer if anything did happen to the rental, but again at arrival they told us we needed to purchase their insurance. Since we had arrived in Zagreb around 10pm and no other rental companies were open, we were forced to keep this vehicle but the value of the car and the value of the costumer service was not worth 3000$.Reviewed 25 Jul. 2016

Hidden charges! Very bad pick up situation at Zagreb airport!Pros:Picked up in Zagreb airport, people were all very friendly and helpful. The car we got was clean and new.Cons:After spending a long time checking-in at Zagreb airport, it took almost an hour to bring our car. It is a terrible pick-up area at the airport with nowhere sheltered to wait so we stood in the rain waiting for our car. Upon return 2 weeks later we were told there were additional charges because we left Croatia and entered Slovenia. We were not told about these charges before and they amounted to over 10 Euro per day of our rental (our price went from 250 Euro to 350 Euro). They also added on a charge for fuel -they force you into being part of their "get it full, bring it back empty" program but then charged 50 Euro fuel-up which is much more expensive than if we had done it ourselves. We were not told of this charge until returning the car, despite my questions during pick-up.Reviewed 22 Sep. 2017

Hidden feesPros:Nice car. Nice parking lot staff.Cons:The pricing is painfully unclear. I was told (and read online) that the cross-border fee would be 45 Euros. The staff member confirmed and I signed. Turns out after reading more closely that it’s 36 Euros Cross-border fee and 16.80 Euros for roadside assistance, which comes with the cross-border fee. But that is 52.80 Euros, not 45. Same issue with the second driver fee. I was told it would be 70 Euros, agreed, signed without checking, but then I realized it was a much higher total (153 Euros instead of 70+45). The staff member tried to tell me there was a 25% tax after I pointed out that his math didn’t add up. But that STILL doesn’t add up. Lots of lying and changing prices!! Get your story straight! Don’t let staff tell me it’s 45 Euros then bill 52.80.Reviewed 24 May 2018

Pros:I rented a lower range car - an Opel astra. The car was really nice - lots of tech, comfortable, and more than enough for 4 people. We took the car from Zagreb, to the parks, down the coast all the way to Dubrovnik and back to Zagreb. Really outstanding my car. Rental car is a great way to travel croatia if you have timeCons:The experience at their office felt like they were trying to get me for every penny. they pressured me hard to upgrade for a bunch of extra stuff i didn’t need. Even without the upgrade the price at their office was hundreds more than the “total price” through kayak which was a shock. They (I thought) casually asked about my travel plan and I mentioned we were going to Dubrovnik. The reason they asked was to tack on an “International fee” which is a sheet of paper for ~40 euro fee because we drove through (15 minutes) Bosnia to get to Dubrovnik... didn’t see one person get asked for this so I wouldn’t share my itinerary with them if I did it again. I felt that they were not interested in my trip or helping me, only in increasing their sales.Reviewed 5 Apr. 2020

Nightmare drop offPros:Staff was efficient.Cons:Do you know those anxious dreams when you are trying to get somewhere and keep driving in circles while the clock ticks loudly towards your flight departure? The Zabrek airport is newly built and the rental car office has not taken the trouble to let people know. We could not find it and kept driving in circles until a call to headquarters informed us that this was a common problem. People going to the old airport site instead. Arghhhhhhh! So glad we gave ourselves an extra hour just in case. Once we found the airport everything went smoothly.Reviewed 15 Oct. 2018

The car was not close to what I ordered!Pros:Who clean the car was.Cons:The car had no power what so ever. The suggested car was a VW Polo on the website or similar. I lived in Europe for two years with a Polo it had all the power needed for the hills. They gave us a Fiat and it wasn’t even close to a similar car in space or power.Reviewed 21 Aug. 2018

Hidden costsPros:The car was almost brand new, very nice and clean, and drove well. We were able to pick our car up in one location and drop it off at another.Cons:When we arrived to collect the car we were told we had to pay extra for insurance, petrol, tax and other things. These costs came to €170 more than we were quoted when we booked. I am not sure if this is the fault of Sixt or Kayak. We were then told we had to put a large deposit down of €1300; I was expecting to have to register a credit card on the system in case of a problem, but we did not have the money in our bank accounts to pay this. Eventually we moved money around and managed it, but we have yet to see this money returned to us.Reviewed 21 Jul. 2016

Rental prices not as purchasedPros:Everyone was friendly and provided good service. We received a clean, relatively new vehicle, which drove well.Cons:We rented the vehicle and prepaid through Kayak. However, there were several hidden fees and taxes -- so ultimately, the car rental ended up being almost DOUBLE what we paid online in advance. If we had know of this, we may have rented the vehicle from another location, but we were locked into renting from Sixt since we had prepaid.Reviewed 27 Aug. 2017
