Overview Reviews
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is a legendary venue that is famous for its oceanfront setting on Hawaii Island. This beachfront resort is set along the white sand beach at Kauna’oa Bay. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel was opened by Laurance S. Rockefeller in 1965 and has since become known for its luxurious setting and service. There are a plethora of rooms to choose from like a beachfront room and deluxe gold view room to a premier oceanfront deluxe room and a suite. Guests can opt for 1 king bed or 2 double beds when booking. Rollaway beds and cribs can be requested. There are many different amenities available, such as a safe, desk, iron, hair dryer, coffee maker, and bottled water. Media offerings include high-speed internet, LCD television, an iPod dock, and premium movie channels. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel has many activities to partake in like a round of gold on its gorgeous greens or a relaxing day at its spa and beauty salon. Those who want to keep very active will love swimming at the beach or pool. For offsite attractions, there is everything from exploring the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and going sport fishing to horseback riding and hiking. The hotel itself has many dining options for the convenience of its guests. Breakfast at the Manta is highly recommended, as is its Sunday brunch there that some consider to be a tradition on the weekends. Copper Bar is where to head to for a specialty cocktail and modern cuisine. Those looking to immerse themselves in Hawaiian culture should be sure to try the Mauna Kea Lu’au with kalua pig and steel guitars for entertainment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mauna Kea is a very special place, elegant and understated. Everything about it is very well done, from the personal service to the art and physical surroundings. It is smaller than the similarly priced upscale chain hotels nearby and that makes a big difference.
Cons: There was an outdoor wedding there on Saturday night with loud electronic dance music. The music did stop at 10pm, but I recommend that if you would not be ok with the loud music at night, that you check with them to see if any weddings are scheduled while you are there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the location ..
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The views. The staff
Cons: I got terribly burned sitting under an umbrella. Didn’t put skin protection on my stomach/chest because I knew I was staying under the umbrella. Their umbrellas don’t keep u from getting very sunburned!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed was amazing, a Beauty Rest, I think...
Cons: Some room details were old, funky and even non-working, like the louvered door between the foyer and bathroom. It had jammed on the overhead track and wouldn't budge...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazingly beautiful. White sand beach is pristine.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love Fairmont!! It’s just everything from the location to the beauty of the building, the rooms, strolling thru the hotel with fountains and koi ponds to the pool and beach! Our favorite place on the island!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was fantastic at Brown’s. Very relaxing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is amazing! Everything about it is beautiful! The grounds are a slice of heaven.
Cons: There are giant sliding louver doors on the sliders to the lanai. In our room the right side was broken and didnt open all the way. We let staff know upon arrival but it never got fixed. This made it hard to get in and out of the slider door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is large and luxurious. The bathroom is incredible. We loved the 2 baths and the dual sinks.
Cons: The morning sun is very bright through the non adjustable Chevron sliding doors.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful large comfy bed. Loved the soaps and shower gel. Great Kona coffee in our room and even decaf which impressed me! Loved the gardens and the resort waterfalls and rental bikes for us to use.
Cons: We couldn’t fault Fairmont orchid and we loved the staff and especially the forecourt staff. Rick especially as he was so helpful.
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful location
Cons: Waiting everywhere, for breakfast, for drinks, for diner. It took more than an hour to check in. The nice girl behind the counter gave us an upgrade, which is nice, but the whole process took an hour of our day. We just stayed for one day.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel employee the front desk was amazing! The aloha spirit is definitely found at this hotel.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Quality, luxury yet chill relaxed environment.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Lagune beach is very nice- can be crowded depending on how many people are at the hotel and often there is build up activity for events at the far end.
Cons: the vendor for the malasadas changed. We preferred the bigger ones with the daily changes of filling. The little ones are still good but just not as outstanding as the prior vendor.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely love everything else. The facilities were very nice. Everything was clean. The rooms were excellent. I fell on love with Lynn at the front desk and Derek at the beach side bar. They both went above and beyond the call of duty. We also loved the fact that, even though they could not accommodate and early check-in, once we came back, check into our rooms, all of us things were already there. That was awesome. And appreciated.
Cons: This is a huge place. And it is a long, long walk from the front desk to your room. There should be some sort of cooling system in the lobby area. It's all open air and it can be very hot. The open air restaurant with all the flies and birds was a joke.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice ambient atmosphere and location with an acces to the beach.
Cons: Valet and bell guys at arrival - too pushy for our comfort.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous garden and beach.
Cons: Beach and pool facilities were very expensive. $65 for a sun bed per day if you want some shade on the beach or by the pool. Those should be complimentary at a beach resort of that class

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of pools with some in close proximity to the building units!
Cons: Our family was separated in different buildings...buildings 2, 3, and 24. We were in 24 which was across the street so we had to drive to see our grandkids. It was inconvenient because we brought only 2 vehicles, a truck and a minivan and there were 10 of us. Even if we requested our assigned units be close together when the reservations were made, unfortunately, the resort could not make those accommodations.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Yes,I'm disabled, and the lack of accessibility to a good restaurant is ridiculous. We couldn't enjoy a $150. Dinner because of how far the walk was. Why do report restaurants close at 9?? Really?
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Out of all the staff there was only 1 person who was a little uptight and could have been a little more helpful... but everyone else was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The condo's were very spacious and our view of the golf course area was amazing! The pool area was also great! We mostly stayed at the adults-only pool, but the other areas were very nice. All of the staff was super friendly and the areas were very clean.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location; comfort; quiet; beauty of landscape; cleanliness inside and out
Cons: Breakfast overpriced for the quality; gym too small for the amount of guests; poor signage for arrival after dark;
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious comfortable beautiful surroundings
Cons: Traveled for family reunion of 30 with 8 rooms, although we requested that rooms be in close proximity 2 were in a distant area. One was transferred on second day. Registration was delayed for up to 2 hours for some of our party
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Seth was very friendly and helpful at check-in.
Cons: DVD or discs skipped so much, we could not finish 3 different movies.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to staying at King's Land again!
Cons: Everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, even though it was full to capacity but didn’t feel crowded. Property is well designed to handle a full house. Staff are friendly and well versed on their property and able to assist us with our needs.great
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Pool was amazing and great for the kids
Cons: Distance from the pool area, we hope to get a closer building to the pool area on our next stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great pools for the family!
Cons: Cleaning was inconsistent, not enough towels given. Would need to call for more even though the same amount of people were staying in the room and they took all the towels.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing resort with fabulous spacious rooms and outstanding facilities. The standout were the pool areas with water slides, water volley ball net and designated areas for very small kids as well as adults only areas. There was a shopping centre within the complex with several bars/restaurants.
Cons: The service at one of the bars (next to the main pool area) was a real let down. It took forever to get served even though it wasn’t busy. Room service was ok but inconsistent at times. We had a few days when the room wasn’t vacuumed, one day the bag of towels was left inside apartment next to the main door, and dishwasher was never emptied. The staff at the reception desk, however, were really lovely and efficient.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, very peaceful. The resort perfectly blends nature with luxury. From the rooms to the restaurants and common areas, the beautiful ocean and coastline are always in view and perfectly framed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully redone! Rooms are relaxing, an extension of the gorgeous grounds.
Cons: All of the food service folks are lovely, friendly and helpful. Front desk, valet not as welcoming. A little stuffy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facility is absolutely beautiful and very family friendly.
Cons: Not really. They are doing some remodeling, but it is so well hidden, that it truly did not bother us at all.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is great— rooms are nice, beds very comfortable. Luxurious, even. The restaurants? Eh.... (Though the fancy restaurant was not open while we were there.)
Cons: What is billed as "ocean view" would be more accurately called "PARTIAL ocean view." There is a large building under construction between the rooms and the ocean. So all you see is a bit of ocean past the building. I'm including a photo of our view from the 8th floor. We were originally given a room on six, which was even worse. But worst of all was the construction noise. From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm all you hear is jackhammers and the beeping of trucks backing up. And even on the beach— which is beautiful— the sound of the surf is obliterated by the construction noise. So really, not a very pleasant experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Hapuna has the most fabulous setting and the views from the lobby are simply stunning. The pool areas are lovely and the dining excellent. We had a partial view room which really is only partial so if you want a good view book a sea view. There was a mistake with our rooms but the manager handled it superbly. We would definitely visit again.
Cons: Self Park a long way from the hotel- would definitely just valet park.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is my third time to be here. Renewed as The Westin this year, very wonderful to stay and spend a good time for holiday! Nice room, friendly staff, good cuisine and beautiful beach...everything is great!!
Cons: Far from airport and town. But no problem with rent-a-car.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The beach. The adult pool area and of course access to Turtle Point and trail to Mauna Kea. And Harley the cat,
Cons: I thought the the food at the pool bar restaurant was pretty bad compared to our past visits (pre-Westin). The prices were outrageous for the poor quality food and drink. Pump cheese on the nachos, a $25 lobster roll that was mostly mayo and probably out of a can. 2 club sodas $15. The F&B department needs a revamp. Resort fees plus $25/nt parking?
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beach, layout and pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice with an excellent bathroom. The beach, pool and views are excellent, except that we had to look at construction.
Cons: There was construction going on in front of our building all day long, even on Sunday. When I inquired, I was told this was a separate owner. The were building residences there. The noise, with jackhammer type noise, meant that we couldn't use our balcony. It was disturbing when you want a relaxing vacation. This noise could even be heard from the pool area. None of this was disclosed in advance. The buildings also seems a little austere by comparison to other hotels in the area at a similar price.
4.3 Okay
Cons: Poor facilities. Got locked at balcony, terrible experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located on a wonderful beach with great outdoor pools.
Cons: Not in a walkable area.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The suite was so much bigger than I thought! Very spacious and very clean. Pool area was fantastic loved the music and ice cream social. Loved it!
Cons: Needed a kettle in the room, and the fact that there wasn’t anywhere “onsite” to eat for dinner was hard with a two year old. Closest was on the shuttle to the shops. Which was fine- but made it tricky with the little one
7.5 Good
Pros: Wide area, shuttle between part of them, possibility to share all Hilton parts of this resort
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Quick response to services when requested
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent service and accommodations. Suite had enough room for my family. Perfect getaway.
Cons: Just that it was super windy but no one can control the weather.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were able to use the AMA omg facilities at the Hilton hotel
8.2 Excellent
Pros: I liked the floor plan layouts. We had access to other Hilton resorts.
Cons: Too far from the ocean. Pool wasn't as nice as Kingsland (sister resort). Floor were thin....we had a first floor unit and could hear footsteps above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: While enjoying the sunset, we did BBQ in front of the room. The scene was marvelous. Of course, the meat which bought in Waikoloa villege was so delicious with such a nice sunset.
Cons: Mini golf patting course is only three holes. But the grass was rough. It was not good for putting, maybe will be good for approaching practice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was awesome
Cons: Everything everyone was awesome and with lots of ALOHA

Featured amenities include a safe deposit box at the front desk and an elevator (lift). Free self parking is available onsite.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Great location! Close to shops, restaurants and less than a mile walk to "A" Beach.
Cons: Room in disrepair. Stained shower curtain, cracked and chipped tile, broken granite, needed painting and the list goes on! Old appliances are very noisy and fridge rattles waking you up at night. Kitchen table was gross with glass cover that couldn't be lifted to clean cheerios out from under it...yuck! Huge AC unit on Lanai that ran even if you turned off the room AC so must be for other units as well. Couldn't eat meals out there because you couldn't hear each other talk while loud AC unit was running :( Ceiling fans need to be oiled. They squealed with each rotation. No basic supplies in kitchen like salt and pepper? Really? Management staff were indifferent to our parking issues as none was assigned for unit D31. We had to drive in circles several nights in a row for 1+ hours to find visitor parking. We finally called management company each day to let us know which parking spots were available for that night. We requested a late check out, however even with no one having booked the room for the next few nights, they gave us until 12:00 (check out is 11:00) We had an amazing time in Hawaii, however the accommodation was very disappointing. Total cost for 14 nights was >3500.00....a little steep for this quality of a condo.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic facilities and space. Perfect for the family. Onsite pool, gym and bbq area were great. Nice short walk to Kings trail and shops / restaurants.
Cons: High chair for the kids and new chairs on the lanai would be great (current ones were in bad condition)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First condo AC didn’t work. The staff was super helpful with helping us moved to another condo. Friendly, nice, helpful
Cons: Could use a little more appliances. We have been staying at this same place for 6 years. Usually there are some basic condiments in the apartment this time there are nothing(new policy?).
5.0 Okay
Cons: The security deposit be returned quicker
6.0 Good
Pros: good location and proximety to consumer necessity (food, beverage), good beach. Central location on the kona-kohala coast for sightseeing.
Cons: Staff not helpful with tips and advice! The room had very worn out furniture, carpet that is stained, dirty. The garbage disposer has a warning sign not to put anything in it, just minimal plate scraping or else it'll clog! No trash collection in 10d
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, close to shopping and restaurants.
Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable, not up to standard, was fitting for the money you pay.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The grounds and landscaping was excellent, along with the pool area.
Cons: The room was dilapidated and unkempt. There were marks along nearly every wall, the blinds barely worked, the majority of the space was severely outdated. We will not stay in Outrigger again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: very comfortable, well equipment, cool furnitures. Lanai was nice with watching golfers. BBQ was good. close to shops, close to beautiful beach, wonderful access to all around the island.
Cons: If it was a little cheaper. TV doesn't work.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and open space
Cons: Beds could be better quality & the kitchen should be stocked with some basics like salt & pepper
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I love the deco and provision of the different necessaries such as dish detergent, laundry powder, pots & pans, hand held vacuum machine, surf boards, beach towels, additional towels and many more. The villa is also very near to King's shop and Queen's market for us to do our shoppings. The service provider was also very accommodative as they provided us with the ground floor unit that we requested.
Cons: The house wasn't clean enough as we spotted two small roaches on the first day of our stay. However, the remaining days of our stay were fine. The TV was a little difficult to switch on as it responded slowly. It works fine after we figured out how to do it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: loved the facilities, location and Space. Really liked the water system In the fridge.
Cons: WiFi didn’t connect to internet, signal weak - had work to do while staying so that was a let down.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything about it
Cons: Operation of the TV s was tough

8.0 Excellent
Cons: staff was great
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was a really fun place for my 10 year old son! Lots to do.
Cons: Prices for food were very expensive!!
6.8 Good
Pros: Great view,
Cons: Slippery bathtub, inconsistent room service, inconsistent housekeeping, no answer at front desk or other staff phones,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow!!! What a magical place!! This was one of our best experiences on the island from the size, the beauty, the landscaping, the tram between the towers, each individual tower atmosphere, 3 different pools with water slides, a dolphin lagoon with the opportunity to swim with these amazing animals, the restaurants, shops, spa, cultural classes, parrots & flamingos to my personal highlight: a 1 mile museum walk with extraordinarily beautiful art pieces from Thailand, Burma & other Asian countries!!! It was like a dream!!!
4.3 Okay
Pros: The rooms were good size, good bathrooms.
Cons: It was too big, too crowded, too noisy. And did not feel like Hawaii. It could be a resort in anywhere in the world. It is like a vacation factory. Not relaxing at all. Especially for solo traveler, it is not relaxing. There are families everywhere, children are all around and loud until 9pm in the pool. And then they are in restaurants. The place has no moment of peace. The food is bad as it is usual food. The service is also bad, as there is no care. Everything is pretty much self service, anything you ask there is a charge. The place is huge, the staff can’t keep up, so they stick to a cookie cutter service as opposed to being helpful. You carry your own luggage even if it means 2-3 miles for example. There is tram but if the tram does not work which happened to me, well good luck. There is no good healthy food or real tasty local food. A few options like poke bowl. If you have any special dietary preferences again good luck. Try your luck outside of the resort. I am a vegetarian, and I could not find anything good or interesting to taste, especially being in Hawaii. The rooms have ants especially in the bathrooms. They are micro size ants not big ones. The place is also super not eco friendly. Turtles are in the same lagoon with screaming kids, water bicycles, etc activities. Though there are state laws about not disturbing these animals, the animals are stranded with this environment. Part of the same lagoon, also a home for dolphins who are being worked pretty much all day. Although there is a sign says it is humane society certified and that participation to the attraction is contributing towards conservation of marine life and research, the scene is far from that reality. The poor dolphins are in a small place considering how many dolphins are there. Though it is lagoon, they are trapped in one side and there is a restaurant next to their area constantly buzzing with people and food smell.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property. At first it was overwhelming because it was so large. After a day of getting our bearings we began to explore and enjoy the pools and restaurants. Also valet parking was prompt, polite and welcoming.
Cons: Breakfast was for the entire resort in one area and it was ridiculously expensive. We left the resort to have breakfast daily. Why not have a couple of other restaurants open for breakfast?
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel was clean!
Cons: The rooms were very far from the main lobby and catching the monorail was such a long wait. When I was in a rush, I had to run to my room! I ordered room service and tipped $5 not knowing that a 22% gratuity was added already. I ordered Cheerios and it was plain Cheerios not Honey Nut. Next time I will make sure I ask. The burger I ordered at Orchid Marketplace had a hard and crusty bun. The options for food were limited unless you had a car to drive or wanted to wait for the trolley to take you to the shops. There was no map to find the water fountain or ice machine in the hotel but on my last day I found it on my own behind the elevators. I even texted the Hilton Help line & was told there is no water fountain at Palace Tower where I was staying but they were wrong.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved being at the pools and enjoyed the beautiful ocean view.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the Lagoon Tower with views to the ocean and to the dolphins. It was amazing. The room was very big and spacious. We had an amazing stay.
Cons: Most staff is amazing, specially the cleaning staff. But the staff that works to sell tours and stuff are a little bit too much "pushy". In my oppinion the Breakfast was too expensive as well. 40$ per person per day is too much when you are already paying 400$ a night in the hotel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Big and clean pool area, separate area for toddlers and small kids with sand on the bottom, nice, clean and modern rooms, comfortable bed, all staff very friendly
Cons: $30 for self-parking, $37 for valet, clearly overprized as no other parking is available close by, in general expensive restaurants, strongly advise to go to nearby grocery store in other resort and buy daily supplies there and even snacks or small meals ! Wifi only works in the room, one step outside the room or on terrace doesn't work, nothing in common areas like lobby and breakfast area !? Lagoon area water murky and not very inviting for snorkeling although fish and turtles live there. Tried several times on different days to reach concierge via phone from room and no one was picking up - no go for such a big and pricy resort !
5.8 Okay
Pros: The ocean view is beautiful.
Cons: I’ve been traveling a lot but never felt so bad about the service of a hotel. The staff I met is not helpful and had attitude. Not even handicap friendly. To be honest I am very disappointed of the service. I would never wanted to return here.
6.8 Good
Pros: Saludes, automated towel dispenser
Cons: The beach

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Large space, excellent appliances provided for cooking and preparing food. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious.
Cons: A little remote from the airport and not many outdoor paths to walk, but fitness center exists
7.5 Good
Pros: Privacy and size of accommodation, friendly staff.
Cons: We were given the incorrect code to get in on our night of arrival, property manager did not respond, had to make our own arrangements at near by hotel and had to walk because no taxi available
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Bed was a little soft.
6.8 Good
Cons: Beds were uncomfortable
5.8 Okay
Pros: Spacious. Shops handy.
Cons: A little further than expected from Kona and beach. Property in need of maintence.. beach chairs, boogie boards broken and additional sofa bed is pretty worn out. Difficult to open and end leg buckled. Let over Hair’s from previous occupants behind a bathroom door.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The villa was very spacious, comfortable and quiet
Cons: The staff were excellent at providing what we needed but the cleaning staff should pay better attention to what was needed (ie extra garbage bags, dish cloths/towels, toaster).
5.0 Okay
Pros: I liked the location. The condo itself was a good size. The pool was nice and the grounds are nicely maintained. It is quiet.
Cons: There was not enough parking. We had just one car each for two condos, and we had to drive in circles to find a place to park. There should be at least one spot reserved for each condo--perhaps a second for an additional fee. Residents should be discouraged from parking in the non-reserved spots. It was very annoying. I was disappointed in the amenities. I wanted to play tennis, but when I went to the office, they said they didn't have rackets for rent. The condo was poorly appointed. I spent a fortune on Kona Coffee only to have it ruined by the cheap, 1980s Procter-Silex coffee maker. All the dishes and kitchenware looked like they came from a garage sale. And there was not so much as salt and pepper in the kitchen. The management will leave you one spare roll of TP. So, if you're there for a week or so, you may need to call in for additional supplies. This is so unnecessary--it seemed really chintzy. That said, if you need something, the staff is friendly and will bring it to you fairly quickly. Our condo didn't have any pool towels, and they were delivered within an hour. If you want to relax and watch a little television on your vacation, don't expect a flatscreen HD TV. You want a robe? Bring one from home. With tax, service charge, and cleaning fee, we spent $425 per night per condo. For the price, I expected more.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s very comfortable, a real home away from home. Very secure, with a gated entrance. The pool was amazing!
Cons: Some appliances are quite dated, but all still functioning so can’t really complain. Even though the property has a garage, there was no access to it which was disappointing, as you had to find a parking spot. Some times the parking spots that were available were quite far away from the townhouse.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good facilities. Clean property. 5 minute drive to noice beach and bay and about 30minute walk
Cons: TV in living room not working. Hot tub on property not working. Also one day we decided to have launch in the property and relax and for about 1 and a half hrs we heard constant load noise of a person blowing leaves off the surrounding landscape which is riduculous and excessive. So our quiet time was ruined
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the layout of the villa. Loved its location. Loved that it came with so many extras!! (Games, videos, beach supplies...). Loved having laundry facilities in our villa!
Cons: Small ants in the upstairs bathroom. Small scorpion in downstairs bathroom!

The Aeolian Residence is located on a hilltop in Waikoloa Village in the The Big Island, 40 km from Kailua-Kona, near Waikoloa Beach Resort and Hapuna Beach. The property offers panoramic ocean views. Free private parking and free WiFi are available. All rooms offer access to the shared coffee machine and shared refrigerator. All rooms have access to a big front porch balcony or patio deck with a table and chairs, with an ocean view. Hapuna Beach is 20 minutes' drive away. There is a nearby shopping centre located within 5 minutes' drive of the property. Kona International Airport is 35 km from the property.
7.0 Good
Pros: The scenery from the patio.
Cons: The bed. It was too soft to sleep in.
7.4 Good
Pros: The price and the location worked perfectly for my trip.
Cons: Lack of privacy. The sliding glass door in my room had sheer window coverings. The door entered the backyard and a shared public patio. They could also use a microwave or a toaster oven for use by the guests. Lastly, it would be nice if this was a non-smoking residence. The room was fine, but common areas reeked of cigarette smoke.
5.0 Okay
Cons: The constant smell of cigarette smoke made it unpleasant to be there for us. The people were nice. But if your like us, that awful smell, non stop was gross. It also takes you away from the balcony view. There was cups jammed full as ash trays and a seemingly non stop chain smoking young Asian lady posted up on the deck the whole time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cute decor,, felt like a private cabin. Will go back again
7.5 Good
Pros: Ocean view, kitchen and living room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The best room is master bedroom but you do not have access to the kitchen (only coffee maker and fridge)
Cons: You must remember that you can here somebody talking in the other room
7.0 Good
Cons: It was a little strange having the owners in a partitioned area on the same floor- we could hear them behind the plastic curtain. We also weren’t aware it was a shared bathroom when booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quick accomodations, great price, easy to find, wonderful staff
4.5 Okay
Pros: The house is in a quiet residential area, no street noise.
Cons: The room was called Deluxe King Room with Bath. It was a carpeted room, with a regular king bed, not extra long as stated. We were asked to take off our sandals inside the house, but were uncomfortable to walk barefoot where other people had walked before. We entered our room through the balcony door and used our house shoes from our luggage. There was a big wardrobe and a couch but no real table or chair in the room, only a stool and a small bedside table.Lamps produced little light. The bathroom was very simple and narrow with not much to hang the wet towels. One of the sink faucets was falsely installed, we had difficulty, how to turn it off. Ventilation was creative. A chest stood partially before a screened hole in the wall. The House is in a residential area, since no breakfast is offered there should be at least a coffee machine. No fridge, no possibility to freeze icepacks. Our room had no special view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful back patio. Lots of privacy and it’s a great value. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. I enjoyed an amazing sunset.

6.8 Good
Pros: Setting, big quite room and big bathroom
Cons: no cable service. no TV in the room. no WiFi to the rooms.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Staff was helpful. Setting of property is very nice. Hugh rooms and bathrooms
Cons: This is an old property that clearly was once a great place to stay. At this point the property is very run down and dirty. Lots of deferred maintenance, dirt and dust just about everywhere you look, old mattress, gardens overgrown, no batteries in our smoke detector - etc....
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed was wonderful. We both got a great nights sleep. The Jacuzzi fits two very comfortably. It was so quiet. If you are looking for an affordable place to just get away this is it. And beaches are minutes away.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great asthetics in the room, the jacuzzi was luxurious.
Cons: Wifi is not in the room, but that was also a bonus.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very homey. Non commercial. Old style Hawai’i. No TV or wifi but here in Waimea to me, that’s a good thing.
Cons: Its showing its age a bit (but it’s a historical site).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old house, lovely room with large bathroom and 4-poster bed
Cons: No food or drink other than coffee in room, minimal staff on site, terrace lights stay on all night
7.0 Good
Pros: It was centrally located, not too close to the busy or noisy part of town. Liked the generous size of the room and the bathroom had a large jacuzzi tub that we enjoyed and a walk-in shower. The closet was large size and there was a separate toilet room. The large older style windows added a nice touch. The bed was 4 poster and very comfortable. The furniture is beautiful antique - the style was like "shabby chic" in a tasteful way that gave it a historical feel in keeping with the area. A glass chandelier is a nice touch. The staff is friendly and leaves us alone to enjoy our stay. It was peaceful. They had maid service daily with clean towels, free coffee and tea. It's good for people who just want to get away from noise and electronic chatter. It has historic charm.
Cons: The outside garden surrounding the room was overgrown. It gave some "privacy" but it looked and felt unkempt. The windows could use some pull down shades that lets the light in but provides privacy from outside. They could clear the large, main window of vines and instead add pull down shades. It could use some air-conditioning, a ceiling fan in the bathroom, etc. There was no WiFi in the room or tv, etc. Didn't like the purple paint on walls - they could lighten up the room with a lighter shade of paint, makes it less "dramatic" and it would feel cleaner. It was a little dusty. The room could use some sprucing up - like a really good cleaning. It was adequately clean, but not like I'm used to in regular hotels. I would move the sofa against the 4 poster bed and put a small table with chairs on one side by the large window and a beverage bar with small frig on the other side of room. Otherwise, it IS a HISTORIC Inn - felt that way too... "it's kind of busy" [a polite way of putting it]. If you don't mind that, this kind of place will be just right for you. Bring bottled water, snacks because there is no food service.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Did not have breakfast. We checked out early. Very clean. Owners provided all needs. We will definitely stay at the Jacaranda Inn, the next time we're in Waimea.
Cons: We have no complaints about our accommodations and will definitely recommend them to friends and family.
4.0 Okay
Cons: This place is old and dusty. Room was very dusty on arrival.Dust all over. Problem with hot water. Dirty fridge inside . Dusty, full of leaves veranda with the view of jungle of weeds ( no herb garden as advertised). stuffy smell all over, dark and spooky.

Cons: Nothing it was all great!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was trendy and functional. Very nice. Location was great.
Cons: Activity pool needed to be skimmed. It was not clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the front counter service at check in was 12 on a ten scale
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel far exceed our expectations. We stayed in the club room and it was awesome. The property was very clean and well appointed. It was a bit far from Kona so made it hard to drive into Kona for a dinner. However there are places closer to the hotel.
Cons: The on property restaurant had a very limited menu and there was only one. So not a lot of dining option. The food was also over priced..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room (s) were luxurious! Washer/dryer was awesome - right in our room.
Cons: Everything exceeded my expectations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendlyness of all the staff and the accommodations.were the best,
Cons: No complaints
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the newly renovated suites, very modern and sheek!
Cons: I didn't like how dirty the pool was, but then again it was very windy. But my absolutely most dissed like was that there were dirt birds flying around the restaurant pooping everywhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was welcoming and warm. The roomy, delightfully decorated suite was very comfortable and the bed was amazing. We enjoyed the prime rib and crab legs buffet one evening and the breakfast buffet was wonderful! We especially enjoyed the indoor/ outdoor dining experience!
Cons: I can't think of anything!

8.3 Excellent
Cons: Check in was confused and a hassle. The lobby drop off is crowded and disorganized.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. The room was nice, with a very comfortable bed. The lagoon was convenient and enjoyable to swim in.
Cons: My room was the last room in the Ocean Tower next to the construction and was very noisy. I traveled alone and was there for a conference so I didn't request to switch rooms, which I would have done if I had my family with me. There were many choices for meals but I had my best meals off property at the King's & Queen's markets. I was disappointed there wasn't an ocean beach on their property. Had a 25 minute walk to a sandy beach.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Lovely facility for family vacation if money were not an issue.
Cons: My credit card was overcharged for 4 rooms when we had reserved for 2 rooms! The unauthorized prepayment went thru a week before we checked in & could not be reversed. Hilton Managers lied to my face about trying to help by comping parking or dining credit and then charged my card for these fees anyway. I have fraud disputes filed with my credit card company and will not be booking with Hilton Grand Vacations again.
7.4 Good
Pros: Very nice rooms, the place is huge and took over 10 minutes to walk to the room, but they have a tram that cuts that in half. It was very family oriented with beautiful grounds and pools and a cool lagoon and a few nice restaurants.
Cons: We were woken up our first morning to the sound of jack hammers and construction. They are still working on the east end of the building. They did move us to a room away from the construction that was quiet. It is also very large commercial with an almost Disney land feel.

Pros: The grounds
Cons: Need more directional signs on how to get to the lobby and pools
6.3 Good
Pros: The pool and grounds were beautiful.
Cons: The check in location was challenging to find. The check in staff was not friendly. She didnt seem open to questions and was curt.
7.0 Good
Pros: Unit was spacious with good appearance. Maintenance staff was responsive to multiple problems
Cons: Unit looked nice but it was soon apparent that it was poorly maintained. First dishwasher didn’t work, then it was repaced by a used one that didn’t work great either. For an apartment costing $260/night + tax, it lacked simple conveniences like salt & pepper, aluminum foil etc
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Microwave needs to be replaced. Inside paint peeling.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Liked being just across form both the pool and BBQs. Very spacious.
Cons: The suite was great just needed some updating. There was not enough dishwasher soap nor dish scrub brushes. Must have been flying cockroach season as the Lanai was hard to sit at.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, private, lots of space and lovely furnishings
Cons: Enjoyed everything.
5.8 Okay
Cons: No conditioner.no sponge for washing dishes..blow dryer did not work.. lots of ants in the place .. outside wall is cracking...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortabke, clean, quiet
Cons: Need to supply washing up soap in kitchen and maybe some dish towels. Instructions on how the tv system works because one in living gets amazon only and bedroom gets local TV only...
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was very good for day trips along the coast.
Cons: Dated decor but clean and well looked after.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the beach bar are fantastic. So friendly and were amongst the highlights of our stay. You can swim right from in front of the hotel and the water is crazy clear. The walk along the beach boardwalk past the other hotels is nice to do each afternoon at sunrise and you can pop into any other bar for a snack/drink. It's close enough to Lahainia to get an uber and the smaller airport is just up the road. Really convenient. There is a tour booking facility onsite, although we didn't use it. The bed is also super comfortable. Considering that it had a full kitchen in a studio style room that was tastefully styled and on the beach it was much more price competitive than the close hotel room only accommodation.
Cons: We paid quite a premium to have an ocean view suite. In hindsight it's not really worth it (for us anyway) as it was just the building located near the beach but we overlooked the main pool and gardens. If you're wanting to be closer to the beach then you would be more than happy.
6.8 Good
Pros: The resort itself was beautiful
Cons: The unit was no where near up to expectations. The carpets were filthy. There was no vaccume. Kitchen did not have tea towels or oven mitts. No frying pans. Could not cook eggs. Etc. Very disappointed. Had planned on cooking meals. Toilet runs constantly.
