Pros: A huge discount, about half price on a nice, premium car. Airport drop-off was perfect
Cons: Pick up at Key West, FL on 12/23/2019 was a disaster at many levels.
My reservation with the super discounted rate, about half price, was at Alamo/Enterprise/National’s off-site location about a mile away from the Key West airport. When walking outside I noticed the line at the in-terminal Alamo/Enterprise/National counter was really long and thought maybe “off-site” might be faster! Wrong!
The reservation said wait for the Alamo/Enterprise/National shuttle, it never showed. I called the phone number on the reservation. I finally talked to a real person after navigating numerous frustrating menus. The person obviously wasn’t local and connected me with the offsite Alamo location, so she thought. The person that answered said, “Gino’s Appliances” and commented that Alamo has the wrong number in their website. Next, I Googled the offsite Alamo location and called, once again, “Gino’s Appliances”.
Inside the terminal and the line was still super long and barely moving. There was only one person at the counter and she appeared a bit stressed. Clearly Alamo/Enterprise/National management at Key West Airport could care less about customer service. Meanwhile, back outside the shuttle never showed so we took a cab to the off-site location.
The situation improved fast at the offsite location, the folks were nice and helpful. When asked they said they stopped the shuttle service awhile back and felt bad for Gino’s Appliances but that headquarters hadn’t updated their records and websites. Also, they said I could return the car to the airport if desired, no more taxi rides… The rental experience was great after that.
