Skip this locationPros:The guy at the rental counter was helpful and friendly.Cons:The car was a beater. It had clearly been in an accident. The passenger door popped when you opened it, and the entire car shook when you drove the speed limit on the freeway. There was a film of dust over the interior when we got it. It guzzled gas. The price we paid didn't include a surcharge for Santiago tolls, even though we spent all our time in Valparaíso. I'd never rent from this location again.Reviewed 29 Sep. 2017

Check the car overall before leaving the pickup zonePros:Like the different models that they offeredCons:That when I picked up the car, it had a lot of imprerfections. If I haven't told the Rep, I would have taken the car like that and would have been responsible for those imperfections (dents).Reviewed 17 Apr. 2017

No attendant at the desk!Cons:I arrived into Santiago, Chile around 11:00pm and when I went to the Alamo desk, there was no one there! I waited for about 10 minutes and then went to their competitor's desk and made an entirely separate reservation. Thirty minutes later, after I had finished signing the rental car contract, the Alamo desk was STILL empty!Reviewed 26 Nov. 2015

Lack of automatic vehiclesCons:They had no automatic economy size vehicles and tried to charge us more to get a larger automatic vehicle. We insisted that they give us what they have, as our reservation included an automatic and we cannot drive manual. They made us wait an hour and fight with them before giving us an automatic Ford Explorer. If a rental agency does not have what is promised it is on them to fix it NOT at the customer's expensive, both time and money. Very frustrating.Reviewed 2 Dec. 2018

The trunk never locked and Alamo does not careCons:The trunk never locked so all of our possessions were at risk of being stolen the entire week we had the car. We notified Alamo and they made no notes or effort to address this issue. We filed a complaint when we got home Alamo sent an e-mail here is their response ~ "Thank you for your patience on this matter. I have been out of the office. I did receive a response from your rental location. The manager advised me the rental car in question was new and only had 2 rentals before you rented it. The trunk was in working order I was advised and was able to be locked at the time of pick up. This was passed town to me from management so I would be unable to contest ruling. Kind regards, Matt Alamo Customer Service" This is not right Alamos service failed 100% the trunk never worked ever GO Avis !!Reviewed 10 Apr. 2016

Not the same Alamo as in the USPros:I reserved an X-Terra but was given a Durango, no problem since i think that's an ungrade. Otherwise the reservation and etc all went without a hitch. The desk staff was ready for us and made the paperwork part easy.Cons:Had to wait about 15 or 20 minutes at the pickup area for the SUV to be delivered, I was told it was being washed. The Durango I was given was rode hard and put up wet, it had almost 100K miles on it, there were dents and rust spots all over it...too many to count....it would have been easier to document where there was no damage. Although it had just been washed it was still dirty, there were still greasy spots on the exterior and the inside smelled rank, the rear cargo area still had some dog hair in it. The worst was that I was given the SUV with an empty tank (with the warning light on) and was told to bring it back empty....sorry. but that's BS IMHO ....but at that point I just wanted to get out of there and get moving so swallow it knowing I would be bringing it back with a partially full tank.Reviewed 21 Mar. 2017
