Budget closed out the bill 30 hours after we dropped off, resulting in several hundred dollars of extra charges. I had to call for an adjustment but have to wait 5-7 business days for a case manager to review the case, even though it was clearly a mistake on the part of Budget.

Everything was fine except for the condition of the car. The car was given to me filthy with sand in the front and back seats. I expect when I rent a car, that it’s cleaned prior to being rented out. Otherwise, everything else was good. Thank you.

Despite having no cars available/clean/ready to rent, Budget continued to take reservations for new car rentals. The guy at the counter said it would be "at least 30 minutes" til a car was ready but could offer no more details. I asked how many people were ahead of me and he said 15! There were many people there who had waited much longer than 30 minutes. I finally got a call about a car 2+ hours later. By then I had already given up and taken a taxi to my hotel, and a taxi to dinner. The rental ended up costing me $50 more than it should have due to the costs of the taxis and a lot of unnecessary hassles. I will not rent from Budget again.

Gave me an EV to travel in the mountains. Representative told me it would be no issue as there was a charging cable in the car to charge it where we were staying. She offered to downgrade a car but pay extra, because she said there was a cord to charge it we decided to give it a try. Turned out there was no charging cable or adapter and was unable to use the car in fear of having no battery to get back to the airport and did not want to spend half a day driving back to swap it out or find and sit at a charger.

When I picked up my car, I was offered insurance for the vehicle. Usually I get it, but this time it was ridiculously high! Over $40 per day...which was twice as much as the highest rate I'd paid in the past.

The guys did not have the car ready even when the flight was delayed 30’ . They said 15-20 minutes but I did not have that time as I had to make an important business meeting. I said I need any car now I don’t care if it’s smaller or bigger , they offered me a bigger car but said I have to pay !! Ridiculous so I had no choice but to paid for an upgrade when they had no car ready at the time of my reservation which was 1:30pm or even 1:50pm. Bad bad experience

Not having an electric vehicle. It was very stressful finding charge stations and the time needed to complete a charge. We had one weekend to enjoy a wedding. 13 hours of it was sitting at a charge stations. There are very few level 3 stations - so HOURS are needed at a level 2.

Cons:

Someone was supposed to meet us at the car, he didn't and we found him wondering around the rental garage. Car was dirty inside and out, AIR CONDITIONING didn't work and only found that out the next day when it was 95f outside. Literally miserable driving around in it. No directions to drop off in Fayetteville, NC. No pre inspection so i filmed everything to make sure i wasnt blamed for how dirty the car was, even AFTER i paid to run it through a car wash. You think covid times would ensure a clean inside but finger prints everywhere, on the screen, dirt in the back seat, just gross.

I rented a manager special for $179. That wasn’t exactly cheap for three days. The manager special came and it was a minivan for me one person. The car was absolutely filthy on the outside. I had to have it washed and clean before I could attend my Luncheon in Asheville. No one was there to assist in finding the car at the Asheville airport. What a mess it is there! You go from one end of the car rental trailer outdoors to the other to get the rental and then finding the car , do t arrive in the dark. no one is there to assist you.. You just aimlessly wonder around the parking lot asking other customers how they found their car. If you don’t Purchase all of the extras, the people at the counter aren’t very nice. You feel shuttled in and shuttled out like cattle. I was asked to sign a paper that there was no outside damage or blemishes to the car without even seeing the car/Minivan. I would never rent from Thrifty again.

The car was not cleaned when we picked it up. The back seat was full of dog hair and there was mud on the floor. We did not realize it until we had passengers sit in the back seat several days later. When I told the agent at drop off that the car wasn’t cleaned I was told I may be charged for cleaning the car since I didn’t take pictures of the problem before we left the airport.

Pros:

The staff at the airport was uncooperative and when I asked if I could change the drop off location the person at the counter made a point to be short and was not helpful. I also asked about adding another driver and he seemed annoyed at my questions. Because of this I canceled my reservation and booked at the counter next door. He told me that I would still be charged for the day if I switched in a manner that was intended to scare me than in making any effort to be helpful. but once I made the other reservation he was able to refund my money.

Better customer service at the counter.

I was charged an extra $200 that was supposed to be a security deposit and the funds were not released. Then I call hertz customer service and I am told this is a privately own hertz agency and they cannot help me with my account. Called the agency and they don’t answer. Really bad experience. Never hertz again

Pros:

Staff in Asheville was terrible. They ended up giving us the wrong car and we only found it out when we dropped it off in Jacksonville. Staff in Jacksonville as almost as bad. The car was also not cleaned before. Someone's old coke can was left in the car.

Cons:

Whatever you do, make sure you get a PAPER contract when you pick up your car. They said we didn't need one in Asheville and they just emailed it to us, but once we got to Jacksonville, Hertz acted like we should have had one and they treated us as if we were the problem with it not being there.
