Pros: The rooms with balconies overlooking the fjord are great. Right across the street from the water. The owners are wonderful people. They are so helpful and accommodating. They helped with tour plans and tickets as well as ferry information. The breakfast was very tasty and complete. Ballestrand is a quiet, relaxing place to stay and this hotel is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the fjords The common areas are wonderful for reading, conversation, napping, or watching TV. So comfortable.
Located in Balestrand, Dragsvik Fjordhotel is by the sea, a 1-minute drive from Sogne Fjord and 9 minutes from Raudmelen. Featured amenities include laundry facilities and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great view up the fjord from the room. Convenient to the ferry and a short distance to Balestrand.
Cons: There were more guests than seats for breakfast. The dinner we had was so, so. The room lacked space for more than 1 suitcase; no drawers to unpack.
Pros: Nice garden furniture and views.
Pros: Location gives it amazing views of fjords, bays and mountains. Friendly helpful staff. Nice walks close by, both around the shoreline and up the mountain and into the forest
Cons: The hotel is 7km from Balestrand ferry terminal. This means it is quieter, but there are only about 4-5 buses a day to Dragsvik - Balestrand. This meant we had to book their shuttle service.
Pros: Very friendly welcome and homely feel from this family run hotel Very bright and clean room - a suite in fact in the house attached to the hotel. Beautiful views though it was very misty for us!
Cons: This was fine for us as a one night stopover. However if you want this area as more of a base you might be better off in Balestrand so you have more options for food. Having said that the meal we had in the hotel was very good if a bit basic; as was breakfast.
Pros: Amazing storage and view in our suite
Pros: The location and views were amazing. The hotel had plenty of spaces to sit and contemplate. The dinner was great and reasonably priced (for Norway). Buffet breakfast was amazing with plenty of food and variety. The attention to detail in just the presentation of it was incredible! The staff were helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to people passing through Dragsvik.
Cons: No complaints about this delightful hotel.
Pros: Location Restaurant in hotel for dinner Beds comfortable
Cons: Flys in dining area should be dealt with
Pros: The cabin was spacious and the staff very nice. Wonderful place to stay as a base for driving to the fiords and cities around...
Cons: The bed was very soft, it could be more firm.
Pros: Nice natural setting on the fjord and close to the ferry.
Cons: Room was very old and tired, breakfast was OK but the eggs were cold...
Pros: what an amazing hotel this is ... in between two beautiful views . Sandwich between amazing scenery and amazing location. we got a full apartment which can easily fit 6 people ( we are 3 ) . Amazing room with lot of facilities and kitchen. we stayed there for a day but would have known how good it is ...i would have done at least 3 days :) Amazing lady at the reception helped us and explained few things. We also loved the extra spaces in the hotel where u can just sit and immerse yourself in nature .
Pros: The staff were lovely. The location was brilliant. The building was also lovely. The meals were great.
Pros: Cozy and comfortable hotel placed in wonderful place with a view on both: Esefjord and Fjaerlandfjord. Staff was helpful and very welcoming. There is possible to order a transport from hotel to ferry pier in Balestrand so if you are not traveling by car - it could be handy. Delicoius breakfast.
Cons: It's hard to say what could be better. Missing TV in the room could be the issue if not the amazing view. The price was high but not higher than level expected in Norway. Lasagna for a dinner was served directly from microwave, but salmon has been delicious. To be honest, I can find anything more what was not great
Located in Balestrand, Kringsjå Hotell is by the ocean, within a 5-minute walk of Raudmelen and English Church of St. Olav. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great, smiling, helpful staff. The reseptionist is super helpful and kind, ready to give you advices for fishing spot on the fiord or for some hiking. Just great. The girls working in the cleaning and in the breakfast do a hell of a job, especially the one with red hair. It is super clean, the rooms are wonderful and it is really close to shops and shore. I will come back one day and enjoy again its peacefulness!
Cons: Small details. The building is old and you can see some old wall now and then in the corridors or in the stairs but not in the rooms, which are great. Breakfast is nice but it offer little variety. It could be definitely better. The kitchens are ok but they really need basic tools like cutting boards, kitchen knives, chairs for adults, more cutlery and so on.
Pros: Amazing staff all Around !! Amelia was great and made dinner reservations for us and hiking suggestions!
Pros: stuff is great helper 'always smiling and welling to help '.the hotel is in great location . the view is amazing .very relaxing place.
Cons: i was to nights it was too short
Pros: This hotel was one of our favorites during our 10 day stay in Norway. It was comfortable, clean and the staff were extremely friendly. The hotel also has a kitchen and self service laundry room with washing machine and dryer for guests to use. Good breakfast too.
Pros: Great view from my room. Clean and very pleasant room. Loved having a kitchen/laundry. 3 mins walk to the ferry. A kettle and tea in the room. A balcony.
Cons: All good but..if you are catching the early boat best check out the night before. I forgot and reception opens quite late.
Pros: The hotel is located in heart of Balasttrand. It is very close to the ferry for those who come from S.ognefjord. The staff was very helpfull and smiling. The room is big enough for 2 adult and 2 years old baby to stay. The view of the room is AMAZING.
Cons: The bathroom definitely needs some alterations. It is not quite suit with the hotel. The breakfast could have been better. There is not an elevator in the hotel.
Pros: Love it. The owner was exceptionally helpful. And, directed me to a wonderful location.
Pros: The terrace with fjord view. The bed and the floor in the room are new.
Cons: Bathroom is very small. Showering will make the whole bathroom floor wet.
Pros: The neighbourhood was serene and relaxed. The hotel was very casual and family owned and run.
Cons: There could have been a fan in the rooms. We stayed during summer and it was pretty warm till the sun set.
Pros: Clean rooms, although bathroom was still wet, not sure whether was from cleaning or previous guest
Cons: I probably got the worst room in the hotel--had no view, rooms are very small, and beds are more like army bunks--with nice linen. Even tho wifi advertised, couldn't use it, password didn't work. Hotel did have common areas with working Internet, TV, etc, but would be nice to have that in a room. Rooms had no tv, and only 2 pieces of soap. The sink in the bathroom was very low, as designed for a child. And to my knowledge hotel had no elevator, so if u get a room on 4 th floor, good luck dragging heavy bags up there. Lucky I was traveling alone, and stayed there only 1 night. There're better hotels in town, so spend a bit more , and be comfortable
Pros: This quaint hotel has amazing views, a great breakfast and helpful, friendly staff. Wish we had stayed two bightz
Cons: Common areas are a bit dated but the room decor is excellent,

Pros: The history of the original hotel is extensive, the staff wonderful and the architecture, interior and exterior was fascinating.
Cons: The addition in the 60's doesn't match the beauty of the original hotel.
Pros: Great location, excellent service, comfortable beds, breakfast included, beautiful fjord scenery
Pros: Excellent location in Balestrand...right on the water. Great staff. Fantastic, but pricey, buffet dinner. The view from rooms in the tower facing the water cant be beat, if in the higher floors (6-8)
Cons: Tower rooms need a refresh. Tour groups can have exclusive access to the impressive historic public spaces, shutting out the independent traveler.
Pros: View to the fjord , clean room, comfortable , staffs were friendly , big rooms , location was perfect , nice private balcony...
Cons: Lack of electric kettle in rooms... breakfast could be better...
Pros: Beautiful hotel with extraordinary decor in a beautiful setting. Well equipped rooms and bathrooms. Polite staff and smooth/ quick check in. Excellent breakfast spread. Pricey overall but well worth it. Beautiful view from rooms, most rooms have balconies with fjord views.
Cons: One would have expected more games in a hotel of this size and quality. The one TT table seemed insufficient. while a regular coffee was included in breakfast, one would have to pay extra for a cup of cappucino. Seemed a bit of a overkill for a 4 star.
Pros: Classic charm in a spectacular location. Nice staff who are eager to please. Terrific hiking just out the door with awesome views for your effort.
Cons: The majority of guests are housed in a modern annex behind the historic hotel. We were among them. After getting over the disappointment of not rooming in the historic section, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Pros: Location, age, history and charm. Filled with antiques and art from early 19th century
Cons: No coffee in the room or freely available when wanted. Have to purchase the breakfast buffet and wait to be served a coffee. No ice-makers/ice buckets. Only two 6oz tiny juice glasses and a bathroom sink. They previously had mini-fridges, but you can see where they were removed. It’s clear the goal is to drive you to the bar. To meet your biological needs your forced to drink water from the bathroom sink. It’s not worth the extra profit to do this to your guests.
Pros: Stunning location, beautiful fjord views. Amazing buffet dinner. Very nice & hospitable staff.
Pros: Location. Building. Staff.
Pros: Location and food
Cons: The level of the room is quite poor and the view of the fjord from the room was much beyond expectations
Pros: The location right next to the marina is perfect. It's also close to the handful of restaurants in town.
Cons: The room amenities were rather disappointing. I would expect a hotel of this caliber to provide shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, etc., but all that was provided was a hand soap dispenser in the by the sink and in the shower. Also, no wash cloth linens.
Pros: The staff were amazing!
Overlooking the Sogne Fjord, Midtnes Hotel is in Balestrand. It offers free Wi-Fi and parking and a private pier for boats and swimming. Dragsvik Ferry Terminal is 10 minutes’ drive away. Midtnes’s modern guest rooms feature a telephone and a private bathroom. Most have a fjord-view balcony. The in-house restaurant serves Norwegian as well as international cuisine. In summer, guests can enjoy their meals on the fjord-view terrace. The fireplace lounge is an ideal place to relax and chat with other guests. Leisure options include billards and darts. Boats are available for rent on site. The English Church and the Glacier Museum are just a few minutes’ walk from Hotel Midtnes.
Pros: Great location overlooking the harbor. Up on a hill so you get some nice views of the town as well. About a 5 minute walk from the ferries. Hotel owner was super nice and recommended a wonderful restaurant in town. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic and lounge spaces were cozy and inviting.
Pros: We loved the nice view, the perfect location, the lovely and quiet living room and the kindness of the host.
Pros: Thé gentleman greeted us from our ferry and took our bags to the hotel. The location of the property is sublime!
Pros: The above-mentioned small deficit was outweighed by both the friendliness & helpfulness of both the owner and the small staff. Whilst definitely not 5 star accommodation & rooms are a little frayed. It would be somewhere I would highly recommend.
Cons: My only complaint is that the walls seperating the rooms are a little thin.
Pros: Great location Nice staff
Cons: Terrible bathroom. Definitely needs to be upgraded. Skimpy breakfast—for two weeks the breakfasts have been so much better than the one today.
Pros: The view from our room 402 was superb. The breakfast was good. Flexible on a late check out was appreciated. Thank you.
Pros: John was very helpful !
Pros: Met us at the dock to drive us the short distance with our luggage to the hotel and kept our luggage and dropped it off before departing Balestrand. Breakfast was very good. Location great. Price great. Make sure to check out the hotel's space across the street on the fjord. Nice dock with great views.
Cons: Bathroom was just OK.
Pros: Location, location, location! Helpful Owner who meets each ferry so dealing with luggage/finding hotel a breeze. Generous breakfast buffet. Welcoming public areas.
Cons: We didn’t miss it - you can watch the view endlessly- but no TV in room might be a negative for some.
Pros: Location was great. Jon was at the boat when we arrived in the rain so it was off to a great start when we didn’t have to drag our luggage to the hotel even though it was only a quick drive.
