Pros: We were not warned about the noise in this hotel, before booking! Constant hammering and banging from 10am till 6pm!! On speaking to reception I was told it was a Management decision not to inform customers before making thier booking, but they did try to remember to tell customers as they checked in so they could go to another hotel if they wished, although they failed to tell us at any stage of our booking and checking in. This is not acceptable, who wants to choose a hotel and book it and then be told on arrival that there are builders in who are causing a lot of noise, it was obvious that the Manager who I spoke to did not want to lose customers because of the noise issues! I would never recommend this Hotel, for a 5 star establishment it is disgraceful to behave in this manner. The Gran Domine Hotel is beautiful, the rooms are very luxurious and the showers are tip top, very clean and contemporary, with an excellent location.

Valet parking service, but remember to go to the alley behind the hotel, where there is an entrance that is much better for dropping off the car, and to unload your luggage.

Cons: Noise.......builders in Hotel hammering and banging from 10am till 6pm! Was not advised that there noise issues before making booking! Management totally disinterested and said it was thier decision not to aadvise customers till they were checking in.......but they didn’t tell us when we were checking in! Do not stay at this hotel, it is not run as a 5 star, they totally disregard thier customers concerns and issues and are very arrogant!

Pros: Since the star of any trip to Bilbao is likely the Guggenheim, the location here cannot be beat. The interior of the hotel is beautiful, and the view from the breakfast terrace is amazing.
Cons: While the breakfast does offer gluten-free options, they have not trained the serving staff on what that means. In our case this meant that - despite ordering GF bread - we were given regular bread and not told about it until we were almost done. Cool!

Pros: The hotel is clean, modern and very vibrant. I’d contacted them after I booked to say it was mime and my wife’s anniversary. When we checked in we were told we’d been given an upgrade and when we got to the room, which was spacious and comfortable, there was a complimentary bottle of cava chilling and some sweets with a note saying happy anniversary, which was a simple but really thoughtful touch. Our stay in the hotel was really positive and the 10 minute walk down to the seven streets area of the city was no hassle whatsoever. It was our first time in Bilbao and I’d most definitely be back.

Pros: Where to start? The underground parking is ideal for travel by car. Within a 15 minute downhill stroll you reach the old centre of town which is absolutely beautiful to discover. The hotel overlooks a gorge and opens to a fantastic view on other parts of town. Within minutes you get on the nearest main highway, and the breakfast is among the best I have seen in this category in the 100+ hotel stays per year. Totally recomendable.

Pros: Fabulous hotel. Huge modern bedroom and bathroom. Super buffet breakfast in wonderful breakfast room. I can't speak highly enough. Thr price was absurd, 52 euros for the room, 20 euros for two breakfasts and 11 euros to park in the basement. Obviously these prices reflect the current Spanish economy and tourism, as otherwise my 83 euro stay would have been three times the price. It's a five minute walk to lightrailway station which takes you to the Gug. We walked back to the hotel from the Gug - it took about half an hour including a walk through the old town.

Cons: Staff– a bit disorganized and not super helpful. Individually, they were polite and kind. But I expected more from a 4* hotel. Looked at me like I had three heads every time I asked for a restaurant number or a taxi. Their answer to everything was giving me a map.
LOCATION. This is BARELY in Bilbao in my opinion. The hotel is literally located on the exit ramp leaving the city. It barely fit on the map of center city. If you're going for business, it's perfect. But if you plan on exploring the city, get ready to walk, take trains, take buses, etc. I would highly recommend that tourists DO NOT stay in this hotel. It's at least a 45 minute walk from the Guggenheim & most of the tourist attractions. It is KIND OF close to the Old Part, but still a 15 minute walk.

Cons: Some of the breakfast bread was often dry. Restaurant claimed to take my fruit allergies into account for Cristmas lunch but food still contained the fruits in question. Found a silverfish in the bathroom on the last morning before leaving (though everything otherwise clean).

Cons: The hotel is outdated, there arent that many electrical plugs close to you, the layout of the room isnt the best as there is a lot of space but not used wisely, additionally there was a lack of communication between shifts (my husband arrived on a different flight and i just came from a transatlantic and just felt asleep and they didnt let him in despite i informed them, luckily i woke up 20 minutes later). Pros: Two female travelers: Comfortable beds, safe, clean room. Just across the cool foot bridge to everything downtown. Good location -- walkable to the Gugg. Very welcoming of foreigners and most of the staff speaks English very well and were able to communicate complicated transit directions to me (like how to get to the bus that takes you to the airport) despite my limited Spanish. We were even able to borrow an adapter for our phones. It's not "the perfect" central location, but good price relative to hotels that are right at the city center.
If you want the air conditioning to cool you room down, leave a key in the placard when you leave for the day, otherwise it turns off to save energy.
Room smelled clean and fresh. We were fine with the size of the bathroom area.

Cons: I reserved a Superior Room and ended in a small room without view, no open bathroom and very small. The room was freezing cold when we came in and we had to put the heater very strong on. Also, bathrobe and flipflops were missing. Due to the fact that it was just a short night we decided just to take it for what it is and make the best out of it. However, the girl on the phone for room service was not friendly and didn’t ask for more and with checking-out there has not been asked how our stay was / making any friendly conversation. Bad luck with the room can happen, but details and hospitality has to be on point. Especially for a four star hotel.

Cons: No real complaints. Just the room we were in could've done with better organising. There was only one bin which could be found in the bathroom, for example. The fridge was inside of the wardrobe. The aircon/central heating system is all connected so can not be manually adjusted. This proved quite inconvenient when we had to leave the window open for air and ended up being bitten by mosquitoes at the end of November...

Pros: We had stayed here 2 years previously and liked the location as it is at the tram terminus so is easy to get to Guggenheim , centre , old town etc. Also , as we were driving the car park and easy exit to motorway are very helpful for us .
Cons: Breakfast not the best for a 4 star rated hotel , could have been more choice . We had stayed in a Melia 4 star 2 weeks prior and the breakfast there was much better .

Pros: Staff are very kind, speaking to them when I first arrived they gave me all the basics of what was in Bilbao and the facilities in the hostel.
There is also a free tour every weekend organised and led by a local journalist. A very nice guy who can speak a number of languages. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Pros: The beds with curtains are great. And clean beds as well. The staff is great as well. They helped me out with a lot of things. For example: - changing rooms was quickly done, after I complained about a very smelly dirty guy in my bedroom. - they helped me out with keeping a package for me untill a friend will come to get it - when I was there, the hostel was in a change of managers. That made the situation a bit weird: they took the whole kitchen with all the plates, cutlery included. Staff couldn’t do anything about it, but they helped with searching for plates and cutlery and I got 2 free breakfasts because of these organization-struggles.

Pros:
Cons: I was put into a dorm where the locker door was broken, I had no charging point, the room was tiny for 6 people and no curtains like shown on the pictures. I requested to move rooms because the man in my room seemed to have a drug and drink problem and stunk the room out of cigarettes and he kept trying to talk to me and i felt unsafe. When i requested to move the staff were very helpful. I came back into my new room after my shower and found someone else had placed their stuff on my bed which meant i had to move to a top bunk bed even though i told the staff i had been there for hours first. The neighbourhood is very scary and the fact we have to walk around the back to get into the hostel after 11pm is even worse as a friend almost got pick pocketed by a man hanging around and i could see him looking at her purse. We could of been warned by the staff when checking in that is is a bit dodgy. The other two men in my room where noisy and in and out all night smoking drugs because i could smell it and they were also smoking inside on the roof terrace which made me sit outside because of the smoke. This is the first time that i have not felt safe in a hostel. It seems to be more for people with drug and drink problems to stay rather than actual travellers. As a female with blonde hair, everywhere i went i got unwanted attention, even in the kitchen. I will not be coming back to Bilbao. Defiantly not worth the money.

Cons: The hostel is situated in a not so nice neighbourhood (drug dealers on the streets), this would be my only reason to not stay there again. The hostel itself was good enough. There was no free coffee/tea, no fridge or microwave that I could use (or at least not that I know of, personel was friendly but not very informative)

Cons: - that they were in an organization change was a bit annoying because they took the kitchen away during that time. But it was just ‘unlucky’, next month it will be fine again. - bathroom wasn’t clean. They ‘clean’ it everyday, but it wasn’t really clean all the time. - it was nice that the hostel is near to the old city center, but the neighborhood didn’t feel really safe.. A lot of police driving by (what makes it feel safer!!), but guys and drugs on the streets didn’t feel quit well for a woman on her own.
