Lands of Loyal hotel - Blairgowrie - Building
3
9.4 Excellent (346 reviews)
C$ 191+
Overview Reviews
The Lands of Loyal stands proudly at the foot of Loyal Hill, overlooking the picturesque town of Alyth, 2 golf courses, and the rolling farmland of the Vale of Strathmore. The grand hall is a masterpiece of Victorian architecture and is at the heart of this beautiful country-house hotel in the heart of Tayside. The restaurant is highly acclaimed and open every day for lunch and dinner. Non-residents are also welcome. The Lands of Loyal Hotel is an excellent base for touring Perthshire and Angus. You can easily access the Glens and Cairngorm National Park by picking up the Cateran walking trail from the hotel. Visit the majestic castles and palaces at Glamis and Scone. Alyth is easy to reach and is 30 minutes from Perth and Dundee.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The ambiance, and the friendliness and amiablity of ALL the staff. All to be congratulated. Very well done on the Christmas Decorations this year. It really 'added' to the experience
Cons: Unfortunately, my double room was the 'disabled room', which while great for disabled, produced a double bed with a chasm, which could not be easily closed. This was due to the electrical bed. Whilst good for solo sleepers, either myself or partner found ourselves falling down the chasm during an evening's sleep. A regular double bed would have been preferable, but then again maybe this was due to booking numbers ? No other comments.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved the views and the interior. The central hall was beautiful and cosy with the big fire place. Nicely decorated dining rooms
Cons: The food was nice but not special. It could have been more pure
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a suite with a small sitting room and it was very old worlde. Bed was comfortable and spacious. The decor of the whole place was beautiful and food excellent. Lovely log fire in lounge area where we relaxed on big settees after having dinner. Huge breakfast in the morning absolutely delicious. Great haven with lovely surroundings
Cons: Cannot think of any thing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The warm character within, the comfortable and warm furnishings throughout. The size of bedrooms and the dinning room. All to a high standard
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful characterful property nestled at the top of Alyth. Christmas had truly arrived, with a magnificent tree in the main hall and open fire crackling. The bed was very comfortable and the views across the Perthshire countryside were lovely. Dog friendly throughout (with exception of dining rooms) and staff (and food) at breakfast were excellent.
Cons: Not informed of arrangements for breakfast or check out when we checked in (we had to ask later in the evening). There wasn’t a huge amount of floor space in the bedroom to accommodate our dog and was difficult to find our way out at in the morning to take the dog out due to no lighting and building closed up (a night light or something in reception area may have been helpful) and no obvious bin to dispose of dog waste.

7.9 Good
Pros: A beautiful location on a very quiet country road. Plenty of onsite parking close to the front door.
Cons: Absolutely no idea where to go upon entering the building, there is NO reception. Eventually walked into the bar past all the drinkers and spoke to "bar staff" who immediately got our room key and took us to our room.

Pros: Very friendly staff, great meals.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Vegan friendly option menu and very friendly and welcoming
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old property situated in the gorgeous Scottish countryside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place in a lovely area. Family run with a personal touch. Very comfortable bright, recently decorated bedroom with windows on two aspects - lovely! Super bed, and a huge bathroom, too! It's a large Victorian stone-built house the likes of which are often difficult to keep warm. Not the case at Strathardle even on beautiful cold, crisp late-October morning when it was -2 degrees C. outside. Definitely warm & cosy inside. A warm welcome and personal service from Abi, a busy mum, who works hard keeping the 'show on the road'. Recommended.
Cons: Nothing.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room and staff
Cons: A bit expensive
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great country hotel with real log fireplace. Very cosy. Staff are efficient and helpful. Breakfast is very good, nice coffee and well made hot breakfasts. We have stayed several times now and the location is just perfect for heading up north or onto the snow roads scenic route. Very handy to get to from Dundee or Perth. The walking trail is right outside the property and a cute little river is next to the hotel. Little bar area is very cosy next to the fireplace and reception.
Cons: Menu at dinner is quite expensive so don't plan on eating there. But Blairgowrie is only 10 minutes drive with many places and pubs to eat which is a much better option.

6.0 Good
Pros: Room was adequate for what I needed it for and clean, and breakfast was OK
Cons: Reception staff was unhelpful and rude when we arrived. I had requested an earlier checkin or somewhere secure to leave luggage when I booked as was attending a family function at 12.15 elsewhere. Was told I couldnt check in and could only leave bag in clear view of everyone at end of reception desk next to front door! Member of staff was not helpful so I had to leave family reception after meal come back and checkin and put my bag in room then return to family function. This will probably stop me from staying here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: it was extremely clean and efficiently run. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The room itself was upgraded free and very comfortable. The evening meal menu was comprehensive and the food very quickly served and fresh. The breakfast was big ,freshly cooked and delicious. As for value for money... second to none. Thanks
Cons: There was nothing to dislike. It exceeded expectations
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite simply I love this hotel! I’ve stayed many times whilst visiting family nearby and I adore this place! The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The staff are always welcoming and lovely. The breakfast is incredible! And I love the swimming pool!!! I honestly use any excuse to stay a night here now and always enjoy it.
Cons: The only thing I’d “change” is to snazz up the leisure facilities a bit more with furniture and furnishings but that’s just me! I like to sit in the jacuzzi and imagine where I’d put plants and loungers!!!!
6.0 Good
Pros: Bar area was nice and breakfast was really good.
Cons: Very small single room and music playing through speaker until 2230pm
7.9 Good
Pros: Central location as we wanted
Cons: The room was a little small. Although we had a nice large window we could only see out of half of it due to condensation between the glazing panels. Our biggest disappointment was breakfast. The website would lead you to believe it is table service. It is not. The advertised kippers were nowhere to be seen and the egg choice which according to the menu is scrambled poached or fried was in fact scrambled or go without.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I travelled up for the sole purpose of Wildlife Photography, the Hotel is well situated with a short drive to the various RSPB reserves and the Cairngorm Mountain Car Park. Highly recommend for people who want to explore the great outdoors.
Cons: Can't really fault the hotel at all! The food was great, the staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.
6.0 Good
Pros: Bed was small but comfortable room was warm, ensuite toilet and shower over bath. TV and tea/coffee making facilities in room.
Cons: Small room, shower had mixer taps difficult to get set temperature. Small bed. Even though there was a lift there were still stairs to tackle to get to room.
