Liked that the car was in good shape and served the purpose. The building at Budget looked very unkept and not manicured. The drop-off was a mess, in that the contract mentioned to drop off at Avis and also leave the key at Avis if prior to work hours. There as only one parking spot left at Avis and no mention of where to drop off the car if Avis was full.Reviewed 29 Apr. 2024

My flight was cancelled and I was unable to pick up my car. I requested to hold the car for me until the morning...and I would even pay for the day we were supposed to pick it up and the guy said no.....first come first serve. I said if I am paying for the car when I was supposed to get it what difference does it make. He said sorry we won't do that. I said can you book me a car for the next day then and he said no.....they don't have any cars. The customer service was really bad and I won't be trying to rent a car from them again.Reviewed 24 Jun. 2021

Pros:Friendly staff. Got lucky with shuttle back to airport - did not have to wait too long. Good value.Cons:The car was very worn for only having 12,000 miles. Lot's of dings and dents, stained seats, chipped windshield. May I was at Rent-a-Wreck? But it ran fine and no issue with how the car operated.Reviewed 4 Feb. 2020

Honestly that was the worst car rental experience I've encountered!Pros:I liked the vehicle, Black Mitsubishi Outlander Drives niceCons:Filthy on inside Filthy on outside we actually stopped and had to wash the windows as the vehicle had been wiped with a water cloth that left TONS of streaks everywhere that we couldn't see out Had garbage / used kleenex inside car / had used rags stuffed in the doors that someone used for cleaning / sand everywhere The car was 4 miles from airport and they didn't open til 9:00 and we had to be at our plane at 8:30...nearly missed plane BAD EXPERIENCE...WILL NEVER RENT HERE AGAIN!!Reviewed 22 May 2018

Shady RentalCons:The Budget ad clearly said on-airport vehicle pick-up/drop-off. Not true - the location is 2.2 miles off-airport. And it was not open when I had to be at the airport early in the morning. So I left it in the parking lot, and I still do not have a receipt for my expense report that is due today. The desk staff was brusque and rude, with numerous posted signs informing you of all the ways you will be charged extra: any sand in your car = $250 fee - and that is for an airport serving South Padre Island visitors! If tank is not COMPLETELY full, $7.50 a gallon. Smoking in the car = $250. The signs were just obnoxious, unprofessional and immediately set a bad business tone. I will not re-use the Harlingen, TX Budget office.Reviewed 30 Apr. 2018

Cons:Car was not washed and dirty when we picked it up. This rental fleet seems to purchase their cars from Payne car sales, a local used car dealer. Still had used car plate on front and a temporary plate on the rear. I was afraid of being pulled over because of it.Reviewed 14 Jan. 2018
