If you are travelling to Halifax from out of town, you can find Enterprise locations at transportation hubs. This includes a counter at Halifax International Airport on Bell Boulevard that is open from about 7 am to just before midnight, except on Saturdays, when it closes at around 10 pm. There is also a location at the train station on Hollis Street that is open Monday to Friday from around 8 am to 5 pm. If you are already in Halifax and need a vehicle, there are many convenient locations, such as Dartmouth Burnside, which is open from about 8 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays and from around 9 am to 12 noon on Saturdays.
There are several on-street and off-street parking options in Halifax. For on-street parking, the city is split into about eight zones, with rates based on demand in those areas. Hourly rates are around C$ 1 to C$ 3, but you can pay in 15min increments. Pay stations accept payment in coins, tap debit cards, and credit cards, or you can use the smartphone app indicated on the signs. Currently, there are two off-street parking lots as well. Zone I is by Alderney and Ochterloney, and the fees there are about C$ 2 per hour for up to around C$ 12 from around 8 am to 6 pm. At other times and on weekends, there is no charge to park. At Zone J on Sackville and Bell, rates are C$ 4 per hour from around 6 am to 6 pm, then they drop to about C$ 2 per hour until around 10 pm. After-hours and on weekends, rates are usually lower or free.
Enterprise can provide adaptive driving devices, including pedal extenders, spinner knobs, hand controls, and left-foot accelerators, free of charge. However, if you want to make sure that your rental vehicle is equipped with the devices you need, you should notify the company at least two or three business days before your booking. If you are disabled and do not have a driver’s license, you can rent a vehicle for a surrogate driver, as long as they meet standard rental criteria.
