Herdade Ribeira de Borba - Vila Viçosa - Bedroom

9.4 Excellent (254 reviews)
C$ 104+
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice rooms, super friendly and helpful staff Amazing location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about this place. Very comfortable beds (big) and room (quiet) with two communicating rooms. Just perfect for a family: we traveled with two kids of 4 and 6. The pool was very handy for small children with an undeep part. We also loved the food that was served - straight from their biological garden. Staff was extremely friendly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Stayed at the Casa da Azenha, an isolated two-floor house with a jacuzzi on the front porch, XXL bathtub, giant bed... it was perfect for a romantic getaway. Not all the rooms are that isolated and the two main pools were a bit too crowded with screaming children and roudy adults, but we’re talking about a full-house long summer weekend. The staff were extremely helpful and willing to go the distance to make us feel welcome.
Cons: Nothing worth noting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing, with the option of receiving it in your room or go to the guest lounge. The entire property is a small nirvana where you can enjoy nature, relax and get a really nice tan! We utterly enjoyed it and we will go back!
Cons: Nothing to point out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet quiet quiet. Feels like you have the entire place for yourself, even though it is fully booked. Great to have the children around and leave them be.
Cons: All was perfect. Nothing to report here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excelente place to rest. Quiet, peaceful and quite beautiful. The swimming pools were excellent.
Cons: In between meals food offer could be better, since there are no supermarkets/groceries for many kilometres.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Bungalow was amazing. Due to the round disposition is hard in photos to understand how really big it is. It has a very good area, AC, bathroom, deck, etc. The bed is really large and confortable. The bungalows are really close to the meal area and swimming pool. The property has two swimming pools in total, which is very good! I didn’t knew about the possibility for ordering meals and dinners in the property. The meals are very reasonably priced for the dinner (they have to be ordered until 16h in the afternoon). In the morning during breakfast you can ask Dona Deolinda what the daily meal is and order it. For lunch you can ask anytime for a light meal, toasts, salads, sandwiches etc and eat it near the pool or in the restaurant. A huge shout out to Dona Antónia, who manages the property and guests and who is a beautiful person and made us feel very welcome.
Cons: I have nothing bad to say, but would love the breakfast to have more regional products such as jams and etc in order to have a better experience of alentejo :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent 4 lovely nights here with our two kids. This place is an amazing escape for holidays, the kids were having the time of their lives visiting all the animals, the organic patch and swimming in the fantastic pools! Breakfast was great and we will definitely comeback!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing house with an amazing history. Great courtyard with a pool. We stayed in an apartment but in the house would be fine. We actually used one of the house sitting rooms as the wifi connection in the apartment was poor. Well restored almost 500 year old house with beautiful furnishings. Very welcoming host.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Back to the Old College - what a pleasant stay ! I stayed for 2 nights in one of the (large) groundfloor studios. Great atmosphere, and service, nothing has changed since my last stay in 2015. I'll definitely come back again.
Cons: B'fast used to be a bit more generous in the old times (or this is the way I remember it). The (beautiful) pool also seemed to be in need of a stricter maintenance.

7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel is the best you could find in Vila Vicosa. It is within walking distances from the main attractions and have a great sense of the place.
Cons: Foods could be better and the rooms could be more comfortable. I also think the pool is too small so it would be difficult to swim laps. There is so much space and you feel you would easily get lost inside the hotel.

Cons: Difficult access to bedroom, several steps both in the bedroom and access corridor, small bedroom, no balcony.

The staff were so helpful and always happy. The hotel was a beautiful place to stay and was surrounded by historical buildings also very near the town, albeit a little steep to come back up for us as we are not the fittest

Pros: Location
Cons: Cleanliness (room toilet was dirty) Shower was broken Air conditioning extremely noise when in low Asked to iron a small cloth, because there’s no iron in the room, it came back exactly how it went...

Pros: The location was quiet, great to chill out... and walking distance to the center of the town. The rooms was nice and very clean. Small but nice swimming pool. Little corners in the garden where is possible to chill out almost in private. Private parking.
Cons: Breakfast, available items changed from one day to the other, the small croissants disappeared and fresh fruit choices reduced, though of good quality. Oval windows impossible to open in the room- level 1. So we had natural light but not a "real" window. Amenities in the bathroom were very basic for this category of hotel

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to Estremoz. Monte da Rosada is in a quite village just off a main arterial road for Spain and Lisbon. We liked the accommodation, excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Very nice place to chill out if you are journeying between a to b on your journey. Owner personally showed us around the original historic onsite winery, that was a very unexpected pleasant surprise and made our stay even more interesting. Liked the pool area, the availability of an inexpensive bar to purchase a drink from. Enjoyed the dining areas and spacious communal lounge areas. There are a couple of local restaurants in the village that perhaps we should have tried.
Cons: Not a lot that we didn't really like. Estremoz? (Not much excited us in Estremoz). Offering of evening meal a little basic and unadventurous, not a lot to choose from , food we had was nice though. Breakfast was ok but again a little basic and limited.
7.9 Good
Pros: It is nicely kept...
Cons: The smell of humidity in the room

Pros: Evening meal very good as was the breakfast.

7.1 Good
Pros: Pleasant garden and pool, lovely room for breakfast & the best fresh orange juice.
Cons: We paid for an upgrade but the room lacked basic storage space for clothes no chest of drawers/shelves so we used suitcases, not ideal. A few shelves in the wardrobe would have made a difference. Also no hairdryer or easy access to a fridge. The games room was next door and sound insulation was poor. Other guests have noted poor WiFi.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rural location with great gardens and the hostess was most helpful....rooms were fine ,in fact everything was nice . great breakfast
Cons: The mattresses need updating ...maybe its me because I have a bad back....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we drove through the lovely traditional front gate, we were pleasantly surprised by the extensive lush green gardens surrounding 3 sides of the Hotel. It was a beautiful surprise. No need for AC as walls 600mm thick so property was cool. Fab bathrooms with cute shutters, and spacious suite in tasteful Portuguese country style. A wonderful experience for 2 Aussie travellers. Having driven several hours through very dry countryside this place was an oasis with a fabulous pool. Lovely breakfasts. The owners happened to be in residence during our stay and took an interest in our comfort, made a special trip into town to get meat for us to BBQ which was above and beyond we felt. We had access to the kitchen to keep our wine and beer cold (very important when on holidays). Overall we appreciated the warmth and care shown us. What a find..!!!!! Thanks Chris and Terese..
Cons: Observations only, not really faults with property. Bedroom quite dark in daylight hours, however we made allowances for this being an old farmhouse previously, and also understand the benefit of keeping heat out in summer by closing shutters etc. Bed just a little too firm for us, but we rested OK. We did feel the upkeep outside was in need of a little more vigour. Small things like the entrance needing a coat of paint as its the first impression one gets of the property, and a good tidy of the garden beds, lawns, big pond and BBQ facility would have made it perfect.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting and spacious accommodation. Pet friendly - we were travelling with our small poodle . This property was very easy to find and only a few minutes drive from Estremoz.
Cons: Being surrounded by fruit trees an insect spray would have been useful. Unfortunately dinner is not provided but we were recommended a restaurant which as excellent.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful old farmhouse, tastefully decorated and wonderful grounds with orange and lemon trees, flowers and a friendly dog. Hostess and all the staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was fairly basic but the fresh orange juice was delicious.
Cons: Only one small difficulty - the water in the shower was quite temperamental - going from hot to cold, but probably manageable with practice!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Especially the warm welcome and that my host went above and beyond for me!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and the owner Catarina Leitão couldn’t hav3 been a better host. I will come again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A clean, comfortable room and bed, also the best breakfast I've had during many stays along route from UK to Portugal. An inviting bar is adjoining the property for a beer and relax after a long drive. I cannot find a negative thing to say about this hotel.

Pros: Great Location, Spacious room, clean
5.4 Okay
Cons: The reception for the check in was closed even if online it says it should be possible to check in in between 16-23. after trying to call the phone number with no success, someone called me back (unfortunately didn’t speak any language but Portuguese) and well, we had to wait more than half an hour in the street for someone to come and open it and let us in.. the room was adequate to the expectation but I couldn’t tolerate to wait in the street for so long to check in.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location, closeby restaurants & short walk to better restaurants in Estremoz centre. Large room, comfortable bed, plently of plug points. Very clean, bathroom goodsized. Staff helpful & friendly. Estremoz is a historical town with many interesting buildings & the castle A number of other interesting towns near the Spanish border.
Cons: In the room there was an expelair, which was on constantly, so the noise made sleeping a slight problem if you are a person who cannot stand noise when sleeping. The bath did not have a bathplug. Whilst Booking.com said that access was frpom 16.00pm onwards, we found access was only when the cafe was open - 19.00pm

Pros: Good value for money hotel for if you are passing by. I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the big rooms and nice strong and warm shower. Cons: The mattress was not good, too hard. A bit over priced for location. Simple breakfast.

Pros: We had a very good welcome from the staff and our room was comfortable. The food was good too.
Cons: Apparently the hotel has seen better days....cracks in the walls, ceilings, burn marks on the ceiling near the fire in the dining room. But the hotel was very clean and we enjoyed our short stay there.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff was lovely and very welcoming.
Cons: The ceiling of the bathroom, the curtains of the window and the carpet were inappropriate for a 3 star hotel room.
