The beds were pretty comfortable, the staff was nice, and the air conditioning was a relief to have. However the AC couldn’t be turned off in our room because the panel was not working. It was nice to have covered parking so accessible.
The “fitness centre” was the worst I’ve ever seen. It was hot and humid, the equipment was literally falling apart, and the selection of equipment and free weights was poor. The pool was also closed. There was also nowhere to eat in the hotel since the restaurant was closed, which was inconvenient since we were on a tight schedule in the morning.
The pictures make it look way more glamorous than it is. Room had bare walls with fixtures exposed where pictures once hung. Furniture looked pretty beat up. Stains on the floor. Bedding was thin and there weren't any extra blankets. Place felt pretty barren in general. Definitely not worth $200/night.
I was there for a 3-day meeting having travelled over 700km. The location was great, lots of little shops, and places to explore within walking distance. Nice pool areas-if the hot tub was not out of service I'm sure it would have been comfortable too but the swimming pool was nice as was the fitness room. Beds were comfortable, nice view of the city from our room. The hotel was conveniently located for my purposes. Staff were courteous. Secure patrolled parking.
The entire stay was noisy, lots of youth/teens/young adults wandering about and playing in the halls late into the night. Whatever they were playing with kept hitting off our door, the walls, etc well past midnight. Running up and down the halls hollering and carrying on-- this wasn't just in passing, the halls were used as social recreational areas. The hotel is outdated; paint chipped, wallpaper peeling, etc walls extremely thin between guest rooms. We could hear entire conversations from our neighbours. We left the fan on to drown it out. Thankfully they sleep at night and were not there to party. The hotel had no hot water the 2nd evening, and into the third day; I was not made aware of any plumbing maintenance that would do this beforehand. Having travelled a long ways, and long busy work days I was too tired to try to find other accommodations on such short notice. They have secure indoor parking however because I had a small cargo box on my roof, my SUV wouldn't fit and I had to park in an open lot around the corner, next to a construction site that was not secure and had no lighting. Little reassurance was given when I inquired about safety and there was nowhere else I could safely park. I took a chance but thankfully nothing was damaged or stolen. I still had to pay for this parking. I paid over 179.00/night just for the room and expected better than this. We did take the time to enjoy the city in the evenings. We decided to extend our Hamilton stay however we found another hotel which was much more affordable, had free hot breakfasts, and everything else plus more that we got out of here. I have another business trip for a week next month at the same location however I will not be staying at this hotel again for this cost/experience.
