Everyone is strapped for cars these days. Luckily Hertz had a car for me (had a reservation via Kayak). Others coming to the counter late at night were not so lucky. The lot was thin. I reserved a sedan, e.g. Chevy Malibu but received a GMC Acadia. Way too much car, but can't be to picky these days. No agent in the return lot, had to take keys to counter, but it was quick.Reviewed 22 Oct. 2021

Pros:The staff in Columbia were friendly at purchase. However, the car I rented began to have issues about an hour into the drive. I called the initial rental office and they basically said "find another Hertz and exchange it". That is quite difficult today while driving down the interstate in a place you do not know. I had to call back and ask them to please at least look up a place for me to go. They told me the airport. This added an hour to my drive in a car that was having trouble speeding up when I pushed the gas. The airport people were very unfriendly and I was not at all happy with the entire experience. THEN they charged me an "exchange fee and gas cost!!!!"Cons:Employees were only doing the minimum for their jobs. There is no extra help if you have an issue with the car.Reviewed 26 Apr. 2021

Cons:I usually select the managers special which was $560 where they choose the car. They had options available but elected to give me a compact for the $560 for 9 days. Really? A compact for 9 days at $560? I cancelled my reservation at that point I usually get good options of a mid size or better, and most of the time a full size truck, hence why I go with the manager special. I explained to them I was carrying 4 people around for a week and they didn't seem to care. I had doubled booked with Enterprise to cover myself. Glad I did. At Enterprise I got a luxury SUV for the same price. I guess Hertz didn't need my $600?Reviewed 27 Jul. 2020

Cons:I reserved an SUV with a third row, but when I went to the Hertz dealership they didn’t have a vehicle for me. They didn’t have one anywhere in the region. We needed the SUV for my family vacation and this issue caused a major problem for us.Reviewed 19 Jul. 2020
