Pros:

I have to say that I rent with enterprise for the past 4 years and yes got few managers in they bad day but other than that is a excellent company with excellent customer service

Cons:

Clean and new cars as well maintained equipment so gives u a safe drive in any Canadian weather with we now is very variable

When I arrived to pick up my rental I was informed that I had an outstanding balance from 2014 and that I have been placed on a "do not rent" list. This was extremely embarrassing and the farthest from the truth as I paid for my rental in full. I had to get my fiancé to rent the car and take the weekend off of work to drive me. I have never been so sure that I will never rent from Enterprise EVER again and I will be sure to inform my friends, family and co workers of what I experienced.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.

Pricing was alright. Extremely pushy to upsell their insurance and almost made it seem as though if you didnt purchase their insurance that it wouldnt be good enough to rent a vehicle from them. When finally just agreeing to their basic coverage just to get out of there, I asked a lot attendant which vehicle I could take, and they pointed out a specific vehicle (a black hatchback). When i tried to leave with the vehicle, person working at the exit booth acted like I was stealing the vehicle and kept repeating that I can't take this vehicle. After telling them multiple times thats what the lot attendant told me I can take, i reversed the vehicle, put it where they told me. They then said that I could take one of the sedans, then they changed their mind halfway as I was about to start putting stuff in the sedan and told me to take a crappy hyundai sedan.

I needed to extend my rental. Could not do it easily on line. Had to call and wait on hold for nearly an hour to speak to a human . That sucks.

The car i rented was running on some old tires. Two front tires wire was coming off. I had to go to the tire shop to switch out the tire, put my trip on hold. I was suppouse to go skii that day but i couldnt. Very dissapointed.

Hertz scammed me – I selected a date on the website, they booked me for a different one, and didn't allow me to change or cancel the trip they wrongly scheduled. I ended up having to book another one with a different company at the airport.

Some issues with not being able to call in beforehand to confirm details of the reservation. Also with not being able to check in and go directly to my car when I arrived, like it said I would. Also with both the phone system and website saying the location I was picking up from was closed when my flight touched down, which was luckily not true (flight arrived after midnight). Also the car’s language had been set to something not English. Also the electric car’s battery was down to 10%, so I had to find a manager and be given another one. Got home around 3 am, instead of 1:30. But in the end, it was overall a good experience. The car I eventually got was good, the manger lady who helped me sort things out once I brought it to her attention was good, and drop off was easy.

Aweful. My flight got delayed so they cancelled my car because I didn’t pick it up at the exact reservation time. I had to make an emergency trip due to my Grandmother being in the hospital. This was really inconvenient and I will never give Thrifty my business again.

Apparently, you have to pay real close attention when you pick a car for an electric vehicle! It took three different cars for me to finally leave with a decent car for it to only shake when you go over 60 mph

The Thrifty office was well signposted but it was a vacant, unfurnished shopfront. It was only a local mall security guard who told us that actually Thrifty operates out of the Hertz office (the word Thrifty is not anywhere), and even that is a third party company again. As a result, we have had to deal with 5 different companies to get a hire car. I suggest Kayak does not do business with Thrifty Mexico until this is resolved.
