5.8 Okay
Pros: The location was great!
Cons: Would expect more from a 4*. The hotel feels cold, lacking facilities i.e gym etc. Also bar snacks are straight from the supermarket, Staff could be more helpful and far too expensive for what you pay plus 25eur parking charge seems excessive for the area.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our room was very large and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was clean, modern and of a high quality. We also had a large living room opening onto an enormous patio which was equipped with sun loungers, table and chairs. Excellent value for money.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was fine and main public area was a lovely room
Cons: The bedroom was down some steps off the main area - low ceiling and snug. The room was clean but tired. Noisy stand alone air conditioning unit
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, very clean, friendly staff especially the young man at breakfast, excellent location right in the centre of Lucca.
Cons: Thought the price was expensive, but typical for the location and time of year. Parking was expensive at €15 per day. Although there was the option to park outside the city walls and then walk in, I don’t know how easy it would have been to find a space. The beds and pillows are quite hard. The air con unit was very noisy so we didn’t use it at night, although it was hot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful old building with unbelievable charm. Best breakfast buffet we've had. Would stay there again.
Cons: Didn't bother us but no elevator so had to climb 3 flights of stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our third visit to Relais San Lorenzo. We love everything about it. The comfortable bedrooms have everything you need including a small fridge containing free bottles of water which are replenished daily and a kettle, tea and coffee. The breakfast is superb and served in a very elegant dining room/sitting room where there are many books and magazines and a decanter of brandy and fruit are left for later in the day. The owner, Daniela, is exceptionally warm, kind and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for her. She was very patient and helpful to my husband who is learning Italian. We were very sad to leave and hope to return soon.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Historic house in the middle of the city centre. Wonderful owner and staff which is helpful at any time. All is absolute clean. Breakfast is very good with a lot of choice and also water and fruits are available all day long for free. Parking at the house se was full, but they arranged a super parking just 5 minutes walking distance from the house. Many thanks again,
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast featured a lot of things the Host baked and the croissants were wonderful. The Host will spoil you if you give her a chance. The beds were comfortable. We had the larger room and it was very nice to have the added space after smaller rooms at other Hotels. The larger room would have been even better if we had not been there when it was very hot and you really couldn't use the outside patio. I would rent the larger room again.
Cons: When you first walk in the massive old front door, then go through the iron gate and start up the stairs, you may ask yourself, what did I get into here? The entrance is unimpressive and there is really nothing I can see you can do about it. Things get better fast when you enter the main room and office.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff were excellent and very friendly.
Cons: Breakfast was a little basic, although perfectly acceptable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good selection. Fresh coffee and eggs made to order. Very friendly and courteous staff
Cons: Directions slightly confusing, would have helped to be told to go through the Santa Maria Gate, then turn right. Minor problem though.

Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This felt like a secret treasure we’d uncovered. booking it as a last minute pick whilst we were visiting the Lucca Summer Festival. It feels like you’re pretty much in the middle of nowhere, and yet only 20 minutes drive from the centre of Lucca. We had a suite on the second floor with a balcony and it’s one of the nicest rooms we’ve stayed in anywhere. The bathroom alone was larger than many hotel rooms! The common and outdoor areas are lovely and the setting of the infinity pool overlooking the view of the valley is sublime. Lovely well appointed grounds. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.
Cons: The only thing I didn’t like about this property was the fact that we couldn’t stay longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This would have to be one of the most beautiful Villas I have ever stayed in. Sitting in the hills above Lucca, Villa Casanova is the perfect place to unwind , with the infinity pool a star attraction. The view is to die for and the surrounding grounds are immaculate! Rooms are enormous and the shower is huge. The staff and in particular , the Manager are wonderful. I don’t think I have ever rated a place so highly! It’s a perfect 10!
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Cons: We have been robbed in the middle of the night!!!!!! While we ve been sleeping. By accident was I awake and made the robber go away but not before he stole a bag. The circumstances are very strange and we haven't felt very much been taken care of after that incident.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful large room with great specious bathroom and good bed, dog friendly and a nice forest to walk. Only 30 min drive to Puccini’s festival or Lucca
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The long views over the Hills from the exgeless pool. The proximity to the Puccini summer house house for the opera season. The managers who did everything in their powers to make the stay extra special, driving us to and from the opera rather than us taking a taxi. We were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. The most comfortable bed and a luxury deep bath. Perfect.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s just what one wants when wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist towns. It’s small enough to make friends and everyone just hangs out by the pool all day and overlooks Lucca. Everything was incredible especially the gracious staff and food. It’s also the one biggest rooms you’ll probably ever stay in.
Cons: The isolation is a double edge sword because unless you rented a car, a taxi to Lucca and Pisa would be around $35-$50 each way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, food, location and view :) awesome place.
Cons: Pool was a bit cold and not available most of the day that we stayed there due to the rain day before

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Not a fancy place with amenities, but good budget lodging that is close to all sights within city walls. Our room was extremely clean and well air-conditioned so we stayed comfortable despite the heat. We were in the back building and heard no noise at night. Secure off-street parking was a reasonable extra 10 euros/days.
Cons: Breakfast was OK given price of lodging but if you don't eat gluten, there is just yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, fruit. No granola or muesli offered-- just cornflakes. Female staff was super friendly and helpful but male staff was very brusque with us.

Pros: Bed was comfortable and the room was cleaned daily.

Pros: The location is close to restraunts and shopping. It is quite a walk from the train station. Take a cab.

They said we couldn't turn on the air conditioning and didn't offer a fan. We were up all night hearing the people above us. The complimentary breakfast gave us food poisoning.

7.9 Good
Pros: Room was comfortable enough, air-conditioning was effective. Views into narow streets were quiant. Shared kitchen was a joy, with views into the roman ampitheatre.
Cons: The building is a death-trap. We had one room in a flat (apartment) of a multiple occupancy building. There were 5 other rooms, each being used by other guests. The flat was on third floor (English second floor) of a block with other inhabitiants occupying other flats (tourists and residents). In total there were 5 floors. When we tried to check out at 7:15am, we followed the instructions which had been given at check-in: to leave the keys in the door of our room, then close the door to the flat. We did as we had been told. When we got to the ground floor, the main door to the street was locked shut. There was no electric button to release it, no fire alarm or emergency escape mechanism. There was no fire exit or alternative staircase. We could not get back into the flat to see if any of the keys would unlock the door. We were trapped. We knocked on all doors of other flats, rang all the bells, no response. We were stuck in the stair-well for over 15 minutes, and missed our train. Eventually a resident did emerge from one of the flats, managed to locate a key, and let us out. We were terrified. If there had been a fire, we would have been burned alive, there was no escape. We tried to report this to the staff who were preparing the breakfast (which is served in a nearby restaurant) but they ignored us, and we had to move on to get a later train and then a flight. We have no idea who locked the only escape route, it had not been locked on any of previous times we had exited. It had been closed, but we could open it from the inside by pressing a lever. On the final occasion, the lever was actually locked shut. It is madness, dangerous, to lock the only exit from a 5 storey building with many unrelated residents. Oh, and the shower leaked water onto the bathroom floor. We reported it immediately, but it was not properly rectified.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very welcoming and friendly they made me feel comfortable and answered any questions I had. The location was perfect! Very central. Everything was in walking distance. Loads of lovely restaurants and shops close by, especially if you're looking for some great pizza and gelato. The room was probably the best room I've ever stayed in I loved its romantic style and it was very spacious for just me.

Pros: Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure. The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day. The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast.
Cons: Nothing and I would book once again during future visits to Lucca.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is great to visit Lucca and Pisa by public transport or by car. THe family room was spacious and very comfortable! Breakfast was basic but it had different options of cold and hot food. Staff was friendly and parking there was plenty of parking at the hotel. Restaurants and supermarketis in the area, walking distance.
6.7 Good
Pros: Cooked food was limited and nothing special with additional charges for extras, but the basic breakfast was acceptable and good value for Euro3. The suite room was very spacious and quiet.
Cons: The bar was not as expected and closed at around midnight and there was no way for guests to get any service after this. Probably not an issue most of the time, but as we were here with friends for the summer music festival and returning to the hotel (over a half an hours walk) after the concert, we had expected to be able to sit and have a nightcap at the hotel. There is a bus service to/from Lucca with a stop near the hotel. However, this stops before 9pm so it is either a long walk or a taxi back. Restaurants can order the taxi and the service seems good. If arriving by train, it is worth noting that there is a bus from near the station almost to the hotel - more info could have been provided on this to save us the 30+ minute wait at the station for a taxi when we arrived. Some aspects were more basic than expected, especially as we had paid the extra for a suite - little things perhaps (eg styrofoam cups for coffee), but not as expected at that cost.
