Got dropped off there to pick up reserved car, and all we had was a debit card, and they refused to take it. Then we were stuck there. Finally got ahold of friends to come pick us up and went to another lot that did take our debit card ! Oh and let’s not forget on our way to another lot, we picked up phone to call around and see who would take our card and reserved one, but when we got there to pick up that one, found out it was a scam ! So we lost $200 on that deal.

After our excellent experience at this rental agency, we will continue to book here whenever we fly in to Ontario airport. In addition to providing efficient and professional customer service, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The car was clean and well-maintained. Rental cost was considerably cheaper than the on Airport location. I will definitely recommend the staff to my family and friends. Very pleased with the complimentary drop-off service back to the airport after returning the car.

Cons:

I booked at this agency thinking it was on Airport. However, It’s only 2 miles away and once we got there, the level of customer service and friendliness of the staff was totally worth the minor inconvenience. One customer arrived after us and said that it was a $15 cab ride including tip from the airport.

I reserved a compact vehicle because I wanted the conservative gas mileage. They ran out of compact cars so all the could give me was a huge SUV the got 15 MPG!!!! The corolla I had reserved was 42 MPG on the highway. Being I needed to drive over 1000 miles the reduced MPG cost me a lot of extra money.

Staff was friendly and the pick up and drop off was easy, but the car itself was in very poor condition. It had scratches all over the outside, the upholstery on the ceiling was dirty, and the car sounded like it needed serious maintenance. It could barely accelerate on the freeway and strained on every hill. I was convinced that it was going to break down, and we would need to call for assistance. Miraculously, it made it through the whole trip, but not without a lot of protests from the engine.

Cons:

Not getting surprised by additional charges above what was agreed would have been optimal. Poor foresight on rental companies should not translate to customer pain. Bad business.

The manager at the chino hills location for Avis ‏was a big help. Otherwise the service was horrible and I will never use Avis again. I will use them as an example of bait and switch.

Cons:

Almost everything. Avis is horrible. Thanks to Kayak for providing a good option. I would not take the insurance again as it does not ‏cover the entire replacement cost of the vehicle. Lesson learned to take your insirance option. Slick marketing though.

I picked the wrong time based on incorrect recollection of when we were supposed to land, but it was required to wait until that time (two hours later) to pick up my rental. There was no previous walk around and I discovered a couple of rock strikes after I drove out of the facility. Fortunately they were rather small and there was no charge for them, but I was worried about it. Otherwise, the car I ended up with (Dodge Durango), which was not the one I reserved (Toyota Corolla), was quite satisfactory and even got respectable mileage (over 25 mpg). So I was pleased. There was a little difference in the ride, however, as the Durango is built on a truck chassis and it is a bit stiffer than a sedan.

The clerk that assisted my brother and I wasn’t very friendly. There was a long line that morning and he appeared disgruntled during our transaction. I selected the manager’s choice when I made the reservation which he mentioned at the counter. I explained I needed a small vehicle if available for local driving. He handed the contract over which specified the estimated charges, including deposit, and the vehicle model and space number. The vehicle was in good condition. There were no other problems until I returned the car where no one was available to check in the vehicle and I was told to just leave the keys and I’d be emailed a receipt. So I left. The problem was when I got the emailed receipt. I was charged a higher amount that the original contracted stated plus an additional hour. I immediately called customer service which is where it got worse. The rep stated I was charged a different rate because I left with a different car. I explained I never had a different car, I selected managers’s choice and I was given a mid-size vehicle, per the clerk. He insisted that was the reason which I politely negated. I specified the rates and total amount on my contract because he still seemed confused. I also asked why I was charged an additional hour if I dropped the car off on time. He proceeded to review everything until he concluded a mistake was made and that I’d be getting a refund for the difference. I asked for email confirmation and he said he couldn’t provide that, that I’d have to review my receipt online in 24-48 hours to see the change. The entire process felt like I was an inconvenience rather than trying to resolve the inconvenience of a mistake made on Thrifty’s behalf. I don’t trust anything was handled properly and that I’ll have to call back to correct it. My brother and I decided never to rent from Thrifty again.

The rental price was very reasonable.

Cons:

Through KAYAK I was quoted "Unlimited Miles," however when I arrived to pick up the van, I was told that there was a 375 mi/day limit and that I would be charged $.45 for every additional mile. Apparently, there is a discrepancy between what KAYAK quotes and what AVR quotes - and the customer is responsible for uncovering that discrepancy. The address that I was given by KAYAK to pick-up the vehicle was incorrect... closed due to COVID-19. Luckily, there was someone at that closed location who was able to direct me to the proper address (which was only 2 miles away). The van was clean... sort of. There was a noticeable amount of sand in the carpets from the previous users who, most likely, went to the beach. In light of COVID-19, I was told that all the surfaces were sprayed with Lysol.

The first van I picked up failed to start after I brought home and packed the van with my luggage. It took me about 30 minutes to reach someone to report the issue. I had to drive back to the location and exchanged out for another van. The overall experience was a bit frustrating.

For starters, I made a reservation and the office was never open. I waited 2 hours and called the number and no one ever answered or anything. Not even an apology or anything. I had to go to another agency and had to pay more because it was a same day reservation. So upset. Never using Kayak again either.

When we went to pick up our van, no one was on property. My husband called the number provided. When a lady answered she stated they had no vans available and all reservations had been cancelled. She stated everyone was contacted the day before. I can assure you NOONE from any company contacted us to cancel our reservation. This was for our daughters ‘drive thru’ graduation so we could take our family to see her graduate. This company ruined that experience for her and our family. We spent the entire morning scrambling to find another van, ending up spending 400x the money. Our attorney is contacting this company. What a horrible experience. I would NEVER recommend such an unscrupulous business!

Cons:

The business should have honored their reservations. The corporate office should answer their phones and emails. I’ve yet to receive a response from their corporate office as to an explanation. Do Not Trust this rental company. We were not the only customer standing there.

Absolutely nothing.

Cons:

This place was shuttered and in the ghetto and did not answer our many calls previous to and during our pick-up time. It is literally a shell of a rental company and a scam. We were left high and dry on a van rental for a family vacation and had to scramble to figure something else out for ourselves after we spent much time driving out to them and trying to get them to respond. Disappointed and angry!

Pros:

I don’t like anything on this company the web site from kayak is great but please double check whit this type of company’s trying to due their business they yes don’t know how to due costumer service o what is costumer service about they yes think about how to get more money from costumer

Cons:

They can die better if they really explain from the beginning what there rules apply to their company and we as costumers we been to pay , I have my rental and when I when there to pick up my car they tell me if I am going out of state I have to pay $45 dollars more I have no problem to pay what the companies ask to pay for a rental my problem is when you make you reservation there is no explanation the extra fees for certain thing I been rental cars since 25 years ago o more and it’s the first time one of this companies trying to get more money from my rental please due some thing whit this company Thank you so much for you business Sal encino
