Pros: The accommodations are a very good value for the money. Being right in the middle of everything is a nice feature at night, you can walk to the bars/restaurants, shopping, marina for boating activities. The staff is very good, especially the bell hops (the one exception is the on property bar/restaurant, which is not affiliated with the resort...that staff needs a major overhaul). The apartment amenities are probably some of the best I've seen if you want or need the comforts of home. It was very clean. The beds are comfortable, the pillows are nice, the appliances are all modern and the kitchen was very well appointed. TVs in all rooms, with decent enough cable. Security on the beach and in the resort in general is very good, and its also a necessity considering the location.
Cons: This resort is for families and snowbirds on extended leave.. The beach is absolutely HORRIBLE. Its man made. The water is very very dirty, theres nothing but muck and rocks to stand on when you go in the water. The sand you see in the pictures is dirt, not sand. I didnt realize how dirty the water was til i went in - ONCE. I dunked once and became drastically sick. Its a sewer. There are a ton of large boats moored just offshore. While scenic to view from your deck, I am betting all that muck and murk in the water is bilge leakage. The pool is small and totally overrun with the whining elderly and screaming children. This is a timeshare complex that caters to long term snow bird renters who are looking for value, and families that want to let their kids run wild while they sit in a chair and ignore them. NOT my idea of a carribean vacation. If your priority is a beach vacation where being on a white sand beach with that beautiful carribean water, make another choice. We spent the remaining days on the other side of the island. Also, the island itself has changed drastically, its downright dirty now. Lots of jamaican peddlers and beggers. I have made my last trip to st. martin.
Pros: Great facilities - brand new kitchen , great gym, very comfortable for a family of 6 in a 2 bedroom suite
Cons: Had to wait for pool towels on several occasions. For the amount you pay, you should not have to wait
Pros: Great beach hotel, in a very convenient location. Lots of good restaurants nearby & a great beach area. We had a great 2 bedroom 2 bath condo with full kitchen. We didn't utilize the kitchen, because that is just not vacation to me. Even though the French side is known for their restaurants, we enjoyed every restaurant we at on the Dutch side. The staff was awesome. My husband left his favorite hat on the beach one day (Tommy Bahama hat...not cheap). We checked with the front desk. They did not have it, but they said they would let us know if it turned up. A couple of hours later, they called our room to say it had been found. We thought it was gone forever. Thanks guys!!
Pros: The appartment was superb, 2 bedrooms and a large livingroom and kitchen. overlooking the Simpson bay.Within walkingdistance there are several restaurants. The staff was very friendly. The only problem (not regarding the hotel itself) was the awful traffic jam because they are working on the Welfare road until december 2011.
Pros: It is an excellent location, convenient to all areas. It is surrounded by excellent eating areas and bars, It is within walking distance of many entertainment venues.
Cons: Mosquitoes were everywhere. (It has been a very rainy season.)
Pros: very nice hotel,clean,perfect location,enjoyable
Pros: I love the location. The view is awesome
Pros: All the hotel guests were friendly. The rooms were comfortable and relaxing. Ideal for a family vacation as well as romance. We plan to stay there again.
Cons: Most of the staff were not friendly, especially the front desk staff. The absence of daily maid service, but we made do. The pool was being renovated during our stay.
Pros: The rooms were spacious and nicely appointed - each with a gorgeous ocean view.
Cons: The onsite restaurant was mediocre but there are several excellent restauraunts within a 3 minute walk.
Pros: Everything was clean and comfy. Convenient location to shopping and restaurants. Pool theme was "tropical fun."
Cons: Did not like the fact that the only place for WIFI was the hotel lobby!

A free kid's club and a poolside bar are offered, and rooms have conveniences like kitchens and sofa beds.

Pros: Clean, friendly resort with (mostly) ocean views and right on a calm, clean beach. Restaurants, bars, groceries, and casinos are close by.
Pros: Loved that it was a studio with a fully stocked kitchen. Our housekeeper was a fantastic woman who did a great job and helped direct us around the hotel when we needed something. All of the staff was accommodating and kind.
Cons: Hot water was intermittent, but with the warm weather, it wasn't too big a deal.
Pros: The Atrium was great for us as we had stayed there before. It is a relaxing way to enjoy St Martens. It is on the beach, close to the airport and is so well located that we did not need a car. We had a great view of the Bay and mountains from our room.
Cons: The WiFi reception was sketchy at times. Car traffic on the main road near the Atrium has really turned into gridlock for most of the day from one end of the island to the other on the Dutch side.
Pros: Great resort, clean, comfortable and safe. First time in lower floor room was nothing special a little dated but the staff makes up for it. Friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Great for the money we spent per night, didn't have a view
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Perfect location, within walking distance of several restaurants.
Cons: The room we rented needs an update. New tile, new bathroom facilities. The internet worked in our room sporadically. Several guests plus ourselves had to go down to the lobby if we wanted good connection.
On a single island where Dutch meets French lies a true island paradise. Located just footsteps from a half-mile of stunning natural beach in Sint Maartin's Simpson Bay area, the Atrium Beach Resort and Spa is a quiet, beachfront resort that overlooks the calm Caribbean Sea and is minutes from exciting watersports, the glamorous nightlife and duty-free shopping of both the Dutch and French sides of the island. The rolling hillsides, blue lagoons and breathtaking vistas of Sint Maarten don't just set the stage for a beautiful vacation; they make their mark on every visitor, building memories to be cherished for a lifetime. Taking in as much of the landscape as possible is something that many guests try to accomplish while visiting this stunning island, and the area has an ample supply of activities to do just that. Whether you prefer a scenic zip-line ride down the mountains at Loterie Farm, a stroll through the local butterfly farm or a Dutch hike through border-like Mount Concordia, Sint Maarten has something to satisfy everyone's taste.
Cons: Front desk staff is rude. Concierge service is useless and incompetent at best.
The road and landscaping need to be better maintained.
Pros: The rooms were clean the staff was relatively friendly
Cons: It is a timeshare organization so they're going to give you a bedroom to begin with and then you will upgrade if you listen to their presentation which they say is 90 minutes and last for 5 hours
Cons: Our room was far away from the beaches & nice pools - there was one smaller pool near our room but not nice compared to the others - it was a hike every day back and forth to the main areas so you had to really plan when you left the room - we tried to change our room on the 2nd day and the manager did try to help make a change but there was no availability so I give him high marks for his professionalism - very good manager - but this did not change the outcome - the room was too far away.
Pros: The water, beach, and friendliness of the staff was outstanding!
We especially liked the guys in Aqua Mania who gave us the scoop on the best snorkel site (Divi Bay, with a sunken sailboat, helicopter and submarine!) We had a GREAT room with an awesome view in the newest part of the resort.
Cons: Resturant choices were not great on property, and the building layout was little confusing.
Pros: Everything except beach access
Cons: Not good access to a beach directly at the resort
Cons: We had several maintenance issue that we could not get fixed -- air conditioning, toilet, plugged drain. Staff was not responsive.
Simpson Bay Resort and Marina is ideally positioned on the beach, midway between the islands most popular night spots and shopping. Fine Restaurants abound to tempt your pallet, jewelry stores to browse through plus a car rental conveniently located in the lobby and an activity center makes it easy to plan excursions to dive/snorkel spots along with a variety of water sports. With its sheltered beach and extensive pool areas, tropical gardens full of hibiscus and bougainvillea, varied activity program, water sports, dining and evening entertainment, Simpson Bay Resort and Marina is a favorite with visitors of all ages
Pros: Our suite was huge for the price. The furniture and kitchen were all top notch. The staff was very nice. The location was great - Buccaneer Bar and The Greenhouse were right next door, in addition to Bon Appetit and The Red Piano (which are "on campus").
Cons: Our room was on the first floor, which negated the "ocean view" (easy access to the pool mitigated this issue). If you want a view, confirm you're not on the first flood. The beach within the resort was a nice place to hang out, but the water wasn't the best (i.e., the sand/rocks underneath your feet wasn't particularly inviting).
[p][em]The Villas at Simpson Bay Resort & Marina,[/em] is your island hideaway with spacious Caribbean villas for luxury living. Cons: Restaurant was closed for the low season and I was told the pool bar would be open in the am for coffee and such in the am. The pool bar was closed until noon and I had to walk off the property to get coffe
Just 2.1 mi (3.4 km) from the airport, Summit Resort Hotel puts you within a 15-minute drive of Maho Beach and Marigot Market. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, along with onsite kayaking and rowing/canoeing. Rooms feature bonuses like kitchens and sofa beds, along with balconies or patios and LCD TVs.
Pros: The grounds and bars were inviting and relaxing, sunset bar a true tranquil place to u wind.
Cons: The 5 star restaurant Azul staff was a disappointment. The food was tasty and inviting despite the poor service.
Set in the most spectacular location, the “resort within a resort” sits on the westernmost point of the island, adjacent to the legendary Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino. The all-suite Sonesta Ocean Point features three pools including the Edge pool with private beach on the cliff, The Point pool and a Swim Out pool; three bars including Sunset Lounge + Bar, Martin’s Bar and Azul Rooftop Bar (private functions only); and the Mediterranean-themed Azul restaurant including 24-hour room service, resort boutique, intimate gazebos, private cabanas, and a dedicated open air wellness area.
Please insure you get an upstairs room, like I did. The lower level rooms didn't seem to have any view.
Pros: Older property with lots of character on a really nice stretch of beach. Close to the airport and the tourist activities at Simpson Bay. French side town of Marigot is a short drive away.
Cons: Back of the hotel is right on the airport runway, but the noise of the planes taking off is fleeting.
At Mary's Boon Beach Resort & Spa, you can spend time at the beach enjoying free cabanas, beach umbrellas, and beach massages, plus you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Maho Beach. The outdoor pool is perfect for guests looking for a bit of fun, while those in the mood for pampering can visit the spa to indulge in deep-tissue massages, body wraps, and reflexology. Offering a beachfront location, TIDES Restaurant & Bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's a rooftop terrace and a bar/lounge, and rooms at this romantic hotel offer microwaves and premium bedding.
La Vista is an enchanting small resort, nestled at the bottom of lush green hills in the Pelican Key Estates area of St. Maarten. A tasteful combination of traditional Antillean charm and European flavor - the result is nothing less than spectacular. Deluxe accommodations with fabulous panoramic views of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea, an infinity pool overlooking such, and friendly, personalized service await you in a lush tropical garden setting. Minimum age required at check-in is 21. Guests should provide approximate arrival time in automated pre check-in form.
Cons: They charged me a $10.50 reaort fee per day, when my Kayak reservation said everything was paid in full. The walls are super thin, so you heard everything in the halls. The concierge desk called at 830am. It took me over an hour to get checked in. They have a pretty early checkout if 10am
Pros: The resort is in the best location in Simpson Bay with a great pool/ocean area. Restaurants within walking distance.
Cons: We were there for 16 nights and only had iur room cleaned 3 times. Floors were dirty so recommend bringing an extra pair of sandals for room. For $300/night I would expect more. The microwave was filthy dirty when we arrived and was never ince cleaned.
Cons: one lady at the activities desk by the beach was less than helpful and sometimes was hardly friendly. It is difficult to try to book a trip for the day when she seems annoyed at helping, and is less than happy to answer questions regarding the trips.
This 240-suite resort on south-facing Simpson Bay is located on the St Maarten half of the island about 7 km (4 mi) west of the Dutch capital of Philipsburg.
Pros: I like the location near airport, sunset bar, maho bay, and mullet bay (half mile walk-my favorite area to swim). We stay her for a day before we head off to other islands.
Super friendly. They just painted the pool and it looks nice.
Cons: Near airport-you definately hear all the planes.
Pros: Decent price to be right by the beach, sunset bar and walking distance from Tantra nightclub and the casino. Very slow on the tuesday I went so I don't know if pool area is livelier or more strict during peaks but swim up bar was not available for us [we were the only 2 people in the pool]. Also there were renovations going on so I'd recommend avoiding the place for another month at least or call to make sure renovations are done. All in all I'd stay again regardless because one doesn't spend much time in the hotel during vacation anyway.
Cons: I didn't like that to have air conditioning we had to have a standard room but this was only because of the renovations. They said they were "fixing a leak" but it looked like there was a lot more than walls or roofing being replaced.
Pros: Don't know how they did it but they got rid of all but one mosquito, a comfort to know during the current Zika outbreak. They added a second elevator on the other far end of the property. Cleanliness has always been good here but this time, immaculate (bravo to the cleaning staff). Any issue reported is handled quickly and thoroughly.
Cons: Not enough tv channels, which you need when stuck inside due to inclement weather. WiFi was not always reliable but that may be an islandwide issue. I didn't need it but I noticed the bathroom shower and sink water didn't get warm. Maybe a small hotplate in studios would a nice addition to fridge and microwave.

Located 1.9 mi (3.1 km) from the airport, The Towers at Mullet Bay features a golf course and puts you just a 5-minute drive from Maho Beach. The coffee shop/café is the perfect spot for a bite to eat, and after visiting the fitness center for a workout, you can unwind with a drink at the pool bar. An outdoor pool and a terrace are other highlights, and rooms offer conveniences like refrigerators and microwaves.
Pros: Nice place and A/C kept the room nice and cool , friendly and helpful staff. Very close to the airport. There were several bars with a large drink menu.
Cons: That I had to wait till almost 8pm to check in . I arrived at 7pm and you would think the rooms would be ready to go. Secondly on Saturday night they had 2 restaurants closed for a wedding and a 3rd didn't open till 9pm.
Pros: Best part was the location and I was lucky to get one of the newly renovated rooms. Shaquile customer service was excellent! Food was great at the Point and Palms Grill. Airplane feature added great excitement. Tuesday night BBQ was a lot of fun
Cons: Some staff were not very friendly. There was a lot of wastage of food, and when I asked for half portions of items on the menu eg Nachos - I was told they only do full portions....even if I wanted only meat they still gave fries....too much wastage of food that can be managed by the waitress with proper training and simple questions eg do you want fries with both of your orders? etc
Gym needs serious upgrades, there was no water and very poor variety of free weights...max was a 20 pound
Pros: Rooms were spacious and clean. Water pressure was excellent for showers.
Staff were very friendly.
Cons: The noise from the construction in process.
The closed art gallery on premises.
The smoke filled casino.
Pros: location near Sunset bar
friendly, helpful bellmen
Cons: terrible odor from sewage plant - in room and in outdoor restaurants
view of sewage plant
Pros: Near airport
Cons: Old and tired. Food was average. Beverages notch better
Cons: Everything was either falling apart or under construction. The food was also not good.
Adjacent to the airport and an 18-hole golf course on the Dutch side of the island, this southwest-coast Sint Maarten resort facing Maho Bay features a 137-meter (150-yard) beach along the Caribbean Sea.
Pros: close to everything like restaurant , variety stores , airport , beaches etc. staffs are helpful specially my friend Mr. Mustaf working night shift
Cons: needs a bit of maintenance in the rooms.

Freebies like self parking and wired Internet are added perks, and guests looking to stay active can check out the nearby snorkeling. Bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves are offered in all rooms, along with room service and premium bedding.
Cons: No knowledgeable staff around. Old building, out of date.
Pros: Loved our room and view! Room was clean and housekeeping was very accommodating. Loved the searing plate on the cook top. Nice covered and secured parking. Pool area clean, nice and inviting. Hotel in process of major redo from new owners. Could see a visual improvement every day.
Cons: Had to beg clean beach towels to the point of going to the laundry to obtain from housekeeping. Front desk staff friendly at best. Mostly just smile and say either okay, or sorry depending on situation. No fitness room, on site store or free WiFi in common areas as was advertised. Overall, great stay. obtw, the sheets suck! You may want to invest in your own when you get there unless they upgrade.
