Kayak users should be informed that according to the staff at Budget RAC, PIT has instituted a ban on renting cars for travelers who pay with bank and debit cards since scammers have tried to pay with pre-paid cards. We tried with them, another rental company and finally Alamo and the staff suggested booking the car online (KAYAK) and then it would work with that system and that is how we got the car. I don’t know if it would work with all of them but unless we invest in a credit card, Alamo will be the first choice for car rental from PIT from now on.

I was renting this car to drive to my cousin’s out of town funeral while my car was being repaired. I had a very tight turnaround screenshot and reviewed all of the terms & conditions in advance to avoid any major issues, particularly because I do not have a credit card. There was no language indicating a credit card is required for transactions at some Alamo locations. When I got to Alamo learned that this Pittsburgh airport location requires that you use a credit card, purportedly due to the $300 hold that is placed on the card. I had to take an Uber home and wasn’t able to get a rental from Enterprise (there are no other Alamo locations within an hour of Pittsburgh) until they opened at 9:30 am the following morning. I was late to my cousin’s funeral and was not able to give a eulogy and left my aunt scrambling to find someone else to speak. I caused her so much stress while she is mourning her son which is unforgivable. I checked on Alamo’s website and saw that there was language regarding possible credit card requirements when booking. If I had tried to book directly with Alamo, I would have seen that and found a different car rental provider. I thought I could use Kayak to save money, but there are some things that are more important than money. I will be actively discouraging anyone from using Kayak whenever I can.
Kayak lied about what dollar has available. My confirmation email from kayak says passenger van. Dollar does not have passenger vans. A passenger van has significantly more space than a mini van. Very upsetting, very disappointing.

I needed a 7 passenger vehicle and ordered it the day of for pickup. The vehicle I ordered online was unavailable. So much so, the agents at the counter informed me that I was the 2nd person to request a vehicle that wasn't even in the fleet. It was a very uncomfortable and frustrating experience.

They charged me too much for gas. I told them that I would do the prepaid and then it charged me 10.99 a gallon. That was disappointing. But I’m not gonna spend time arguing because my time is not worth $50 to do it.

I was charged over $100.00 to use the turnpike. There should be another option other than just charging for unlimited use. I only drove on it from Ohio border to Pitts airport. Might as well just got an Uber or cab!

Tom at pickup sounded like a corporate robot rather than a sentient being while dealing with my pickup at which there were no cars that I reserved available. Thankfully the woman in the hut in the garage was more human and was able to do an easy switch (after I saw that there was in fact a car I could have in the garage). Either way I will be using Enterprise in the future—I never should have tried another company.
Hertz would not let me rent the car with my Philippine driver's license because I did not have my passport with me. I have rented cars with them on numerous occasions using that license and not once has an agent asked me for a passport. I am currently disputing the amount that QEEQ is withholding from me in the amount of $130 for not renting the car.

As soon as I booked my car Rental a person from Hertz was calling me saying that they may not have a vehicle for me because if someone else needed a vehicle and was willing to pay the higher price I would be bumped and I had to pay 139.00 more. I wasn’t sure if I was being scammed so I hung up and called Hertz myself and explained the situation she ask for the number and checked into it and informed me that the number was legitimate and that a car could not be guaranteed even though I had already prepaid. I told her that I was not paying anything additional and would arrive at the time selected to pick up my rental. I arrived on the day and time and the counter girl was nice she wasn’t to knowledge on my questions and had to ask for help from coworkers multiple times which was fine I did end up having to pay the extra money for fees and Taxes which I feel should have been included in the original price offered I did not like the car at all it was so compact and I would not recommend if traveling on Turnpikes or Highways or in any type of windy or Rainy weather. Did not have the proper car class available for me upon arrival. I could choose from literally 3 cars…2 small EVs and a minivan. The car I ultimately chose ended up having a terrible smell and was not clean.

Awful. I will never be using budget again. They closed early leaving my wheelchair bound wife with no rental car. Had to spend $150 on Ubers to the Airbnb and then back to the airport the NEXT DAY where they then forced her into an upgrade. Awful awful company. The customer service agent on the phone was rude. They didn't even compensate us for the one day shorter rental.

The workers were rude, the car was so dirty that we had to pull over and clean the front window just outside of the airport so that we could see to drive, it stunk like smoke and dirty dog, it had horrible shocks and every time we hit a bump it would throw us so badly that we almost wrecked. For $490, this car was a joke. Overall, this was by far the worst renting experience we’ve ever had, and we’ve been traveling regularly for 15 years.

Payless does not even operate out if that location. When I spoke to customer service on the phone they had no idea. I got to the rental location and end up being stranded there with no vehicle as the actual rental companies that operate out of the Pittsburgh airport were already sold out of cars. It seems that Payless created a bogus rental reservation for me for that location. When I told customer service they said that my reservation could be picked up from Avis, however avis said that was not true, they had nothing in there system, and they were sold out of cars already anyway. This situation caused me to be stranded in the city of Pittsburgh.

It’s been closed for 5 years. I made a reservation for my wife on kayak. When she got to the airport, she found out Payless has been closed for 5 years at that location. Luckily budget had a car. You need to update your system. This should never happen. She was almost stranded in Pittsburgh. Unacceptable.
