Pros: The breakfast was a highlight - a different hot course each day, with some very interesting touches, and all of them prepared with care and skill. Our room was spacious and very comfortable and a great retreat when, unfortunately, there was quite a bit of rain during our visit. There was also a common room with coffee, tea, cakes.

Cons: Revamped property with dated purple carpet, modern furnishings, uncomfortable beds and pillows. Did not retain charm from 1600’s and it is right next to the freeway. Breakfast was limited to one hot choice and the cook server was not rude, but short and to the point.

Cons: At check-in it was noticed I had requested a king bed - I was offered a "newly renovated room" and accepted, but was disappointed to find it on the lower level, with a large and loud A/C unit for the hotel outside my window and only a queen bed.

Cons: It was kind of out of town and on a built up area - the shuttle bus into town was great though and the canal walk was nice. And the beds weren’t as comfy as I have had in other Marriott hotels - that being said it’s personal preference and no bed is as good as the one at home. Our bed sheets were also dirty upon our check in - but these were changed immediately and the manager was tripping over himself trying to apologise - it’s not the mistake, it’s how it is handled and they were quick efficient and polite.
