Pros: The location at Minatomirai is excellent. The hotel is directly connected to the subway and is also connected by a covered walkway to the JR Sakuragichio station. The staff is very helpful and helped to store our luggage until check in time. The room was overall very clean and comfortable but the bathroom was quite dated. However what made up for this was the breath taking view from the window of the port/bay both day and night. The airport limousine bus picks up from the hotel to both Narita and Haneda.

Pros: I stayed in 3 levels of rooms during my 2 stays in the same week. The higher levels definitely were more enjoyable. I did choose to include breakfast each morning and was happy with that decision. While expensive it is expansive and extremely well prepared. I also used the fitness center each day and found the additional cost worthwhile as in addtion to the gym there are full locker areas with Japanese style baths and sauna as well as a pool.

Pros: The Royal Park Hotel is always great. We have stayed there many times. The rooms are large and well appointed, the staff is nice, and the View, especially if you have a bay view, is great. Since the hotel starts fifty floors up, all views are spectacular.
The breakfast buffet on the top floor is great with a wonderful view.

Cons: The check-out procedure could be better. You often have to stand in a long line if you check out at 11:00 am. I don't understand why a modern hotel in a modern country like Japan forces you to stand in line to check out rather than do it electronically.

Cons: Disclaimer: We are NOT noisy tourists. We DIDN'T give any demands or anything you would find from annoying guests. We are just a newly wed couple, stayed here for our honeymoon, but this is the worst experience. Lobby staff - They didn't care even if you tried hard to speak Japanese with them. Instead, they gave you a smirk when you didn't understand and switched to English immediately, as if laughing at you. The guy during check-in was chatting extremely nicely with Japanese guests and introducing this and that to them, but when it was our turn, he introduced nothing. His smile was fake with a hint of "I don't wanna serve you". There was another lobby staff, in her 40s, who was greeting Japanese guests, but the moment she saw us, her smile disappeared immediately and walked away. Restaurant - Rude staff inside with no smile at all. Breakfast choices were mediocre with extremely slow refill. Be prepared with nothing you'd like to eat. I wrote a long comment note to the hotel when we left. They didn't even bother to reply. If this is what Japanese claims "omotenashi" (おもてなし), that's really a shame.

Pros: By far the largest room I've had in Japan. The room was a little older but there wasn't anything wrong with it. It had a great view of Yokohama harbor and the Yokohama Bay Bridge.

Its opposite is Yamashita Park and it's very close to Chinatown.AND specially thanks for concierge IKUE SATOH, she speaks English very well and helps us contact different places to find my cellphone. Thank you. AND thanks for the bellman(in the front door),sorry I don't know his name. A wonderful guy with some white hair. He passed us some umbrellas when going outside at a heavy rain night. They are helpful. Anyway, thank you guys. From China

Cons: Parking is expensive in Yokohama all round. The hotel can only adjust your overnight parking coupon to be mininum 1500 JPY for overnight parking. They even suggest you don't drive out at all, but i find transport connections aren't that close to this hotel.

+ Location is excellent: the Intercontinental is one of the landmark buildings in the modern Minatomirai neighborhood of Yokohama; it just across a pedestrian overpass to Minatomirai Station and Queens Mall + Landmark Tower and all of the rest of the surrounding attractions.
+ Easy access to Tokyo via Minatomirai Station (from where you can catch a train direct to many Tokyo neighborhoods or get anywhere with 1 transfer). (I would recommend using Hyperdia (http://www.hyperdia.com/en/) for looking up train directions.)
+ While I was checking out, a staff member came up to help me with my two large suitcases and spoke into his headset to have a cab waiting for me by the time we got down the escalator.
+ Many more instances such as this of subtle and excellent customer service are what really defined this stay for me.
+ Access to the airports is easy via Yokohama station where the Keikyū Airport Line will take you to Haneda in 30 min or the JR Narita Express will take you to Narita in 1.5 hrs. If you are traveling light, you can change trains at Yokohama to the Minatomirai line and take that to Minatomirai Station, which is a block from the Intercontinental. (If you have a lot of bags, as I did, you might find it easier to take a 10 min cab ride between Yokohama station and Minatomirai station.)

Cons: The bathroom only had one bar of soap and no body wash, so we had to use the one bar for both the sink and the bath. Also, there were small traces of mold on the spaces between the tiles and along the bathtub outer edge. Not much, but needing work. We ate dinner at the hotel's Pier 21 restaurant, a floating restaurant with very nice views of the habour. Unfortunately, the food was, although well-prepared, thoroughly unimaginative, and for the price, disappointing.

Pros: The free space with coffee/tea in the afternoon was very useful for us - when we were travelling in a bigger group of people - to meet and discuss. Cons: The hotel posse as filled with technology - you (in theory) could check in by your self, you got a breakfast ticket that you were supposed to use for "checking in" for breakfast (and according to the sign - by your self) - in practice this wasn't the truth. First, we needed assistance of the staff with checking in - which gave additional problems, because we chose English version of the application and the staff had problems with using the machine in English... Also we had a very unpleasant situation during the breakfast - so the first and second day there was a person who was taking our breakfast-tickets and scanned it on the machine (although there was a sign that you should do it by your self) - on the third day there was no staff on site - and since we were in a hurry for our work - we checked the sign carefully - and it said please scan the ticket by yourself - so we did as the sign said and we started to collect the breakfast. Few minutes later one of the staff came and in Japanese asked for our tickets - which we showed we have and tried to explain we already scanned - as the sign said - also showing on the sign (both in English and in Japanese), however the lady took our tickets and scanned again - and of course got an error. To shorten the story, in the end there were three people form the staff - one partly speaking in English - making a big fuss about should we eat breakfast or not - not to mention they were doing the fuss in presence of other guests of the hotel. From the beginning we tried to explain that we scanned the tickets by ourselves ("jibunde") but if they had any doubts they could always use the monitoring or ask us/charge us additionally - it's not like they did not know in which rooms we stayed. Instead they made a big fuss, making us almost late for work and also making other guests to look at us like at crooks.

Cons: One thing I noticed was that the toilet and heater made a lot of noise randomly, which was kind of obnoxious at night. This probably can’t help as it’s a mechanical thing, but it did wake me up a couple of times throughout the night.

Cons: Room smells like an odifferous armpit each time I open the door. No invoice if you pay on line. It's definitely impossible. Just count on not getting any kind of invoice. Breakfast buffet constantly runs out of item and the staff is trained to not notice. They react with great shock and surprise when you pint it out the eggs in the morning are just a warm yellow goo, highly not recommended.

Pros: The staff was especially courteous, friendly, and helpful on a range of issues, including reservations, travel to and from the airport, hotel services such as maid service, laundry service, message delivery, and meal services. The Japanese, Chinese, and Western breakfasts were phenomenal. The rooms were comfortable, well maintained, and completely met the needs of tired travelers coming in from overseas, and then visiting family and friends, as well as re-visiting favorite tourist sites in the Tokyo, Kyoto, and Kamakura regions. The location was also extremely helpful being close to the metro, as well as close to where our son lives in Motomachi. The sights of Chinatown, Yokohama were just an added benefit. Getting into Tokyo or excursions to sights further afield such as Kyoto, Kamakura, and Nagano, were also easily accomplished with the metro line so close to the hotel. Overall, a perfect visit, in large part due to the attention and services provided by the staff of the Rose Hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Submitted by a visitor from Virginia, USA

Cons: There's a used baby diaper left underneath the bed. I think it could be the cleaner mislook it. Hotel room is small and not really suitable for 4 with a very small bathroom as well. We book a room for 4 but ended up have to squeeze ourselves together.
