Pros:Absolutely nothing. They refused to honor my reservation during a high-demand weekend.Cons:Well, everything. This was one of the most distasteful business transactions and customer service disasters I've experienced. They wouldn't honor my reservation because I was using a Mexican national ID (issued by the Government of Mexico) for diplomats. This ID is issued and used just as any other Mexican national ID - there is no distinction, but the very unhelpful Alamo office refused to accept it. They demanded a passport. It was the exact same situation of Alamo in Mexico demanding a Mexican citizen present a passport in lieu of national IDs, which would be illegal. Nor did Alamo agree to transfer the reservation to others in my travelling party. The attendant, named Paulina, demanded that we make an entirely new reservation online, which equated to almost a 100 percent price mark up off my original reservation. I will never use another Alamo franchise again.Reviewed 15 Jun. 2021

Cons:I was unable to rent a car. The address provided was incorrect, when I finally found the place I was there a few minutes and the guy said he couldn't read to me because it was 5:01 p.m. and they were now closed. RidiculousReviewed 21 Mar. 2021

Pros:nothing.Cons:I made a reservation and showed up at the counter. They were out of cars. What's the point of a reservation? I had to scramble door to door at other car rental companies to find someone who still had vehicles.Reviewed 22 Feb. 2019

no cars available, no service availablePros:The personnel at drop-off were efficient and kind.Cons:When i went to pick up the car, no one was there to help me. the employee that was available was not an agent. They shuttled me to another franchise location but they didn’t have any cars at all. none. they said i might be able to get one, maybe, later in the day but they’d have to charge me significantly more than i was quoted on orbitz.Reviewed 15 Jul. 2018

No mention of insurance rate during online booking!Cons:- I booked the car from Car Rentals. The price was good, around US$45 for two days, but made no mention about insurance. But when I picked up the car, I was charged insurance fee for almost double than what I paid for the car rental! How outrageous! - Alamo does not have a kiosk at Merida Airport and I waited for more than half hour to wait for a pickup to their center which was 2km away from the airport terminal. Alamo car rental......Pros:Spent three wonderful days in Merida Yucatan, visited surrounding ruins. 4 th day went to Alamo and inles than 15 minutes we were on our way to visit other towns and Mayan ruins, all the way to Tulum. The car was in great shape, clean and consumed little gas. THe roads were in excellent shape. It was difficult no to go above the speed limit, but thank God we did as there were several radar police on the roads...Cons:TUlum and the coast hotels are wonderful, drove up to Playa del Carmen and like other BIG resorts it was crowded polluted and we left as soon as we could. Cancun, forget it, overdeveloped tourist trap... Totally destroyed nature....what a shame... GOt back to Merida on time and again very efficient in our cur car return, about five minutes.... WOuld not think twice about using them again....Reviewed 23 Sep. 2016
