We planned a trip to Cartagena four months before our trip including our air fare and car rental. We reserved an automatic crossover (Chevy Tracker or similar) since we had to drive about two hours from Cartagena to get to where we were going to stay. I called two weeks prior to confirm and I was advised that there was a system glitch and the car that I had reserved was never in their inventory, only stick shift was available and the price of my reservation would not be honored. I explained to them how far in advance we had reserved the car but the best they could do was either give me a stick shift for a higher price or refer me to another car rental agency for an automatic car for an even higher price. I also asked how come I was able to reserve this car when it was non-existent in their inventory and they continued to say it was a system glitch. In the end, we got private transportation but this caused some major unnecessary anxiety before a week-long trip with a toddler ..Reviewed 12 Jul. 2021

Pros:First they require a $1000 dollar deposit for your rentalnwhichbisnt stipulated anywhere on the site or after making reservation. 2nd...the car initially had AC and after about an hour after driving off, the air turned off and never turned back on. I was already in route to Barranchila and couldn't turn back. This truly ruined our drive as we had to endure the heat for our extended ride. I returned the car 1 day early and explained to the budget rep the situation and he refused to refund the money for the extra day that I chose to not keep the car. Shady business practices and they forced me to buy the local insurance although I explained to them that my AMEX Platinum covered the insurance. I would never go back to Budget Cartagena. Never ever.Cons:Get rid of this budget rental office. They run it like a extortionist renegade franchise. Truly making my experience with budget one to never want to rent a car again from. Pros:NothingCons:They gave us the most beat up worst car they had. It broke down on us and we had to call Budget to get car towed. No replacement car given nor they refund us the two days not used. As per their agent, the car broke down at noon so it’s considered a rental day if past 12pm. Never rent from them!!!Reviewed 14 Aug. 2019

Cons:When at the car pickup counter in the early morning (7 was the pickup time), the guy wouldn’t show up until 8 AM. Returning was easy tho. 2 week’s after my credit card was charged with an additional 150 bucks and I still don’t know what for because they don’t reply to my emails. Renting a Budget compact car in Cartagena, ColombiPros:Fairly simple, friendly check-in process. No line (when we checked in). Car was clean, filled with fuel, got out of the airport parking lot with no problems. Rental return was also simple process. No hidden surprises or costs.Cons:Car's engine needed a tune-up. Took 15-20 minutes to warm up. The engine responded to the accelerator only after 1-2 seconds. I could have asked for another car, but would have required walking back to the office from the parking lot and probably redoing paperwork, so I took a chance. Worked out okay. I signed a credit card blank in case of "any fines" obtained while driving the car. The person checking us in might have explained better to foreigners that cameras are set up occasionally on the roads to photograph speeders (even 1 km/hr over the speed limit, apparently), and these are billed up to 4 weeks later.
