Budget continues to automatically charge $15 on top of every rental for vehicles returned after being driven less than 75 miles. This is supposedly to cover gas refueling however it’s easy to miss this, particularly when you refill the car. This particular rental this was an electric car that doesn’t take gas.Reviewed 21 Jan 2025

On pickup the agent informed me that despite my reservation request for a small car, the ONLY car she had available was an electric car. I did not want this. She told me she had no other cars and basically our conversation was over. I persisted and ten minutes later she came up with a Dodge Ram pickup. A real gas guzzler. I stood in a line for an hour to get my rental car at Vero beach.. 3 people behind the counter moving at snails pace. When I got to the front of the line,, the service person told me she needed to go somewhere and I should just wait and someone would bring me a car. She just shrugged when I said that my pickup time was an hour ago. It was ridiculous. Even the people returning their cars had to stand in this same line for an hour. I was rented a 2019 VW Teajan that reaked of tobacco smoke. I know that VB is a small location but staff seemed less organized than any of my previous rental experiences. I expected to drive a Ford Edge or something similar. I thought it was unusual to drive a five-year old car. Was it because I arranged through Kayak?Reviewed 30 Jan 2024
