The check-in process was very slow. I pre-registered online and put my card information in the system. The associate told me that I could not use that card because it was a debit card. If I would have known that when I pre-registered I could have Spoken to someone prior to trying to spend time at the busy checkout! There was an additional $600 that was added as a security deposit and I do not carry credit cards that have a $1200 line of credit. I have never had a problem renting a car before and using my debit card. They had to have a manager approve it because I said I don’t have a credit card with that much open balance. In addition, upon bringing the car back, the gentleman told me that we opted to pay for the gas so we could have brought it back empty. My husband was there and we both specifically said that we would fill the tank up. So there was another $50 that they tried tacking on if it weren’t for the fact that the drop off gentleman was so honest. It quite frankly was a terrible experience.

1.5 hours to get the car once in line at budget/Avis counter. Way understaffed, way to old computer system. The fast track was to unfair to the other customers in line. Budget has to invest in the company. Same to be said at MSY counter. Update the corporate computer system to swipe your driver lic and credit card and get your car that easy. Less employees needed too!!

Flight was delayed. Called to inform Avis I will be later than planned. Told the location would be closed and they would cancel my reservation. If I wanted a car, I could reserve the same car for a shorter time but they had to double the price. Terrible customer service and never picked up a car. Using Uber/Lyft was cheaper than the original price in the end.

I had reserved a Chevy Tahoe which is a full size suv and when I got there they told me that the only thing they had was a Hyundai palisade that according to them it is in the same category as the Chevy Tahoe and when I tried to explain to the person that there is no way them two cars where similar at all she said she didn’t have time for that and and that they never had any Chevy Tahoe then I said that the were doing false advertisement and were stealing from people because I was being charged for a Chevy Tahoe or “similar”she said that “it was ok” literally her words. was very rude and just said that if I wasn’t happy with the car I was given just to return it. At that point I just realized nothing was going to be done to help my situation and just decided to politely end the call.

I was charged an extra $59 because I used a debit card. I was told that because I had a debit card and not cc they had to physically speak to my insurance agent...at 6pm on a Saturday. They would not accept my insurance information or declaration page either. Very disappointed, will never use again.

There was no line at the pickup counter, I was helped immediately and the woman was so kind. We walked to our van which was clean and ready to go. No issues throughout the week, and returning the rental was a breeze. I just pulled in, parked, and since there was a line of returning vehicles the man told me to leave the keys on the dash and I would get a text later. That was it! Smooth, quick, easy. No complaints.

Pros:

The registration people were nice, but they had a new computer system and it took about 45 minutes to get our documents.

Cons:

They didn't have the vehicle I had requested and upgraded me to a truck, which was enormous to park and had no place to lock our luggage. The truck smelled like someone had smoked in it.
