Good little airport. Car rental is mediocre at best.
Pros: Rental counters are right at the airport. It takes no time to get to the counter to try to rent a car.
Cons: I had a reservation for a car for Saturday. When I got to the rental counter there must have been 50 families trying to pick up there cars and it took me 15 minutes to actually make my way to the counter. Then it took another hour to actually get my car. I think they were waiting for cars to be returned so that they could rent them out again. Appears to be poorly run. The ladies at the counter said "it is always like this". Seems to me that if you're that busy you could get some extra cars for the rush(busy season).

Cons: The pricing is BS. The bait and switch from a cheaper rental to a needed upgrade was my choice, but they tack on taxes fees such as roadside assistance at 4.99 a day. Really? You would expect a more legitimate pricing structure. But to go from 136$ rental to a 244$ rental. I'll rent somewhere else next time.

Cons: the wait time to pick-up the car; made a reservation months ago and almost had to drive a pick-up truck so i didn't have to wait any longer.. thankfully they got a bunch of cars back before i was done checking out and i had to ask to get one of those for a smaller car

Pros: We liked the car and the speed
Cons: There was traffic everywhere that nobody told us about since it was bike week. We only used the car from the airport and to the airport. We used an under everywhere else. It was a waste of money since we didn't get to use it. If we would of known about bike week, we wouldn't of rented a car.

feeling just a bit scammed on this deal.
Pros: nice clean little car - no problems.
Cons: agent at Thrifty couldn't find any records of my rental - so I gave her my kayak confirmation number, and she determined I was supposed to pick up the car at Thrifty's other location, a mile away from the airport (instead of the airport location) - ended up I had to pay an additional $40 to get a car at the airport location (they called it additional tax) - I blame kayak for this scam, not Thrifty - be sure if you rent a car through kayak, you can pick it up at the airport location, and at the price quoted. personally for me, no more dealings with kayak.

Easy Pick Up/Drop Off and Helpful Staff
Pros: The Myrtle Beach airport desk staff have been so nice to us on both visits. The cars are in great shape. Never an issue. And it's not expensive to prepay Thrifty to fill your gas tank.
Cons: I'm always surprised by the huge taxes and service fees that apply to car rentals. Though Thrifty offers some very good rates, they are undone by these unexpected fees. While car rental agencies can't control taxes, they could be more transparent about what you will ultimately pay when you pick up your car.

Pros: Convenient, friendly staff. Was upgraded to a loaded Ford F-150 for no charge over the Focus I had reserved at $60 total for 3 days. Can't beat that.
Cons: $200 hold charged onto my card at pickup, which was refunded, but still bothered me

Pros: The car was pretty nice and very clean
Cons: Website misrepresented where we would be picking up the car. We thought we were picking it up at the actual airport but that wasn't the case. We were charged an additional fee for picking up at the airport instead. The company also kept trying to upcharge for additional insurances etc. which we didn't need. There were long lines and a long wait for both picking up and dropping the car off.

Cons: Didn't like the fact that we couldn't return the car a day early because the drop off location was closed - thrifty was unwilling to work with us to allow us to use a more convenient location

Worst Rental Experience!!
Cons: We arrived at the airport on time to pick up the rental car. First she told us we were a no show, even though we were 25 minutes early of the elected pick up time, then she said it was booked at a non airport location and could not honor the rates. This was booked on line for airport pick up I explained. She said she didn't know what the problem was but it was what the system showed. So without arguing I asked what she could give us since we were there now. She said the best she could do was 70 dollars higher than what we reserved. She was very non caring, unempathetic and made me feel through the whole process that I was not important and an inconvenience. I finally went to the competitor, Avis, explained the sitiuation and they were glad to give me a nice full size for very close to the original price with Thrifty. I will NEVER use Thrifty car rental again and make sure others don't either if asked.

Filthy and damaged
Cons: The car was filthy and had multiple areas of damage not listed on the paperwork. When I pointed damage out to attendant, she gave me an attitude. I had to wash all the windows inside and out when I got to my destination. This was a horrible experience with Thrifty and will not use again.

Cons: The saleswoman was very manipulative and was not very clear about the quote. We found a much cheaper deal online.

Pros: Reserved a compact basic car, we were upgraded to a fully loaded Ford F-150 because they ran out of car I guess. But it was free of charge and it was a really nice truck almost too nice.......
Cons: I don't like trying to parking a truck in a tiny parking garage just a minor inconvenience I guess.

Pros: The car we finally ended up with was clean.
Cons: We waited in line for more than 40 minutes before we were helped (this was NOT a very long line). We ended up downgrading to a compact car from the small SUV we initially booked because upon arrival at the Myrtle Beach airport, we were told that our booking location was more than 20 miles away which would have required a lengthy and expensive cab fare. The up charges for the "convenience" of this downgrade cost us more than $50 above what we originally believed we were going to pay. The first car we inspected had severely damaged rims that were nearly falling off, plus many scratches and pock marks. No lot staff in sight, so I had to walk from the lot back into the rental building to find someone. They switched us to the car we ended up with, which had several deep scratches in the paint - no way was I going to leave the lot without those scratches being noted on the rental form. So I made another walk back to the building to find someone to look at and note the damage. When we got to our hotel, we discovered that the fob did not work - not a huge deal since we could lock and unlock the doors manually, but an inconvenience. Overall, an exhausting experience.

Pros: My reservation total with taxes was 100.82 but when I picked the car up the rate was 164.00 what is the point of booking early to save money when they charge full rate when the car is picked up?

Pros: The drop off was quick, the car was clean
Cons: The customer service when picking up the car was extremely slow. Only one person working the desk for Thanksgiving weekend. The car was overpriced.

Dirty car, but customer service was polite.
Pros: Liked the size and handling of the car. The customer service clerk at the desk was very efficient in checking me in.
Cons: My husband and I had to clean the car's inside, before my trip...he vacuumed the seats and floors, I wiped a dirty console. He also cleaned the windshield and wiped the crusty wiper blades. There had been a scraping sound, and the wipers streaked the windshield, which was discovered because it started to rain. I rest my case.

Cons: The attendant in the lit was a bit rude and even though there were many empty slots SHRB made me park the car 14 spaces away as SHRB wanted these spots open. Odd personality and not very friendly

Pros: It was an easy pleasurable experience, staff, vehicle and both loactions were nice, clean and had friendly staff.
Cons: Your location in Walmart in Myrtle Beach really needs a sign out front somewhere, if you do have one I didnt see it.

honest price for the quick trip
Pros: the van help 4 golf hard travel cases and 4 small luggage bags and 4 golfers just fine for 4 days.
Cons: Check out took 35 minutes to get through.

Pros: The pick up and drop off was very quick and easy; we didn't even have to go inside to drop it off! The staff were very personable and efficient.
Cons: The car was a bit dated and definitely could use a tune up, but it did the job!

easy to work with Thrifty
Pros: so easy to change our reservation to a one way drop in another town. a quick phone call and it was done. really helped when we were having so much problems with our RV and needed to get to it somehow.
Cons: car was not very comfortable. not thrifty's fault. just not a comfortable car for long travel.

Pros: The rep was not friendly.
Cons: We had to look at the car in the dark to find any damages before we left. We were told it would be our responsibility to pay for any mechanical repairs that occurred during the rental period.

Cons: They did not have any mid size sedans available to me, which I had ordered way in advance. Forced to take a pickup truck which I was not familiar with and had no cover for putting luggage in the back. They also added all kinds of costs to my original quote. I would never choose Thrifty again. Just awful.

Pros: Clean car, easy check out
Cons: charged with some road side assistance fee, that was not told that I had to pay for, then when I disputed with the agent when I went to return they had no accountability for it, since it was a franchise location. Also took 30 minutes to return the car had to go to the rental car counter all the way upstairs because the myrtle beach location hadn't filled out the paper work right. Good thing we got their early or we would have missed our flight.
