The hotel rooms are very outdated and so is the staff. I was treated poorly by greeter and desk check-in. The room was deplorable. Everything was dated and broken. My view out the window was a fire escape for$200 a night. I felt the rudeness was racially motivated by the entire white haired senior citizens employed at the Drake.

Pros (+) Our stay was wonderful. The Drake is a classic, old school hotel that is an amazing gem in Chicago. It is very well maintained by a staff who take great pride in its appearance.

Pros (+) Wedding in the coast ball room was phenomenal. The staff throughout the Drake were very kind, courteous and very helpful always. Food was excellent.
Cons (-) A/c in our room didn't work very well. Only disappointment.

Pros (+) An architectural gem in downtown Chicago with old look but kept updated with modern amenities. It shows it's age sometimes but that is the charm of it.
Cons (-) Just know that there is no lounge access for Hilton Gold members which is strange for a property with a lounge.

Pros (+) Location was great.
Cons (-) Booked and paid for a King bed -- received a double bed. Hotel offered $40 off dinner at their in-house restaurant. Could not offer any other room accommodations - nothing with a view, not a bigger room, and not what I ordered and paid for -- a room with a King size bed. Slept uncomfortably most of the night. Separately, went to breakfast in the hotel and the windows were very dirty.
