Four months prior to our arrival in Kingston, I made a reservation through Hertz for a van for my wife's parents and our family of 4. The reservation was confirmed and everything looked good. Shortly before our flight left for Kingston I called to confirm everything was set, and was told that while they had my confirmed reservation that they would not have a vehicle for us. I told them my flight was about to depart and that I needed a vehicle for 6 people (plus bags). They said the biggest care I could rent was a Rav4, which only has seating for 5 people. I said that if they didn't have a suitable van/SUV that I would appreciate them locating a vehicle from another agency. I then made a reservation through Ace Rentals in Kingston airport before our flight departed after learning Hertz was not going to have the van we'd rented, but when I called Ace to confirm if they would have a van (since my Hertz confirmation was meaningless I wanted to avoid similar situation with Ace) they also said they were not sure if they would have a van when we got there. When we landed in Kingston, I went to the Hertz office and spent 20 minutes with Hertz telling me they'd asked around and that no other rental companies had vans or suitable SUVs that could accommodate our group of 6. They said I would need to rent two cars from them and said they could not offer any discount despite them screwing up my confirmed reservation. I went to Ace Rentals (Island Rentals) next door to see if they might be able to deliver on the van reservation I'd made that afternoon and was surprised they said it would be no problem and that they had a van I could rent. When I got to the rental lot I saw they actually had multiple vans available. Hertz gets an absolute F for not honoring my confirmed van reservation, for lying about asking around to get me a van, and then trying to get me to rent two cars. Have never had such a bad Customer experience. Avoid Kingston airport Hertz car rental at all costs and I am inclined to avoid Hertz in the US and other countries based on this incredibly poor experience.Reviewed 26 Feb. 2023

The first rental I was given was a hot mess. At one point the key stopped working and the car shut off in the middle of dangerous roads. I had to call for assistance which took forever so I had to walk and get necessities to fix the car. As a female, i was surrounded by many people while walking and even trying to fix my car. By the time road side assistance called back, i already started the car and broken a nail. Over the next day, the car was still having problems and not starting which was fustrating. I finally decided to drive ALL THE way back to the airport for a different car. The service was decent but the hassle was not worth it. I spend money for good rentals not unreliable ones. nothing... feels like a scam. your rate quoted was at $37 per day. I ended up paying $89 per day. They gave me a old car (2014) and didn't have another vehicle to change it to.. only an upgrade.. not a very pleasant experienceReviewed 27 May 2022

Pros:Kamarley tried to overcharge me. My two weeks res. Was for $531.24. Upon arriving I gave him the reservation number and he confirm my name and that I had it booked for two weeks and I declined all extras. Pick Up Huge ConfusionPros:The agent who eventually worked with us tried to make the process smooth after the initial confusion.Cons:Flight arrived in Kingston at 5am. Went to booth I airport told the office where we need to get our van does not open till 8am. The agent told our group of 6 we need to find our way to the other Hertz office. She said no ride could be provided to the alternate location. We had to get a cab from the airport with our luggage to another location then wait until 8:30 for an agent to arrive.
